His story is a chilling reminder of the horrors some children endure. The trial revealed shocking details, including allegations of severe physical harm and neglect. As we explore this distressing case, listener discretion is advised.
Stay tuned for part two, where we continue to uncover the prosecution's case and hear from the defence. 🎙️

New Episode Out Now!

In this episode, Dawn welcomes Kevin, co-creator of the YouTube true crime channel Just Thought Lounge, to talk about the tragic case of Tony Parsons.
Tony, a 63-year-old former Navy officer and cancer survivor, went missing during a solo charity bike ride in 2017. The episode describes the harrowing details of Tony's disappearance, the subsequent discovery of his remains in 2021, and the shocking confession by Alexander McKellar, who, along with his brother Robert, was responsible for Tony's death. The discussion highlights the critical role of Caroline Muirhead, who bravely gathered evidence against the brothers despite immense personal risk and police pressure. Dawn and Kevin also discuss the lenient sentences given to the McKellar brothers and the implications of the police's treatment of Caroline.

Listen to the episode to hear the detailed account of Tony Parsons' case and the incredible efforts that led to its resolution.

All Episodes Available Now!

Over six episodes, host Dawn and guest Naomi Channell, from the podcast Real, discuss the controversial, complex and emotionally charged case of Luke Mitchell, a 14-year-old boy accused of murdering his girlfriend, Jodi Jones in 2003. They talk in detail about Jodi’s murder, Luke’s arrest and the sensationalist media coverage that surrounded the case and the broader implication of trial by media.

They dissect the circumstantial evidence presented against Luke during the high-profile murder trial. They also explore inconsistencies in witness testimonies, the controversial decision to try Luke as an adult, and the reliance on eyewitness accounts, details which have kept this case in the public eye for over 20 years and divided opinions around Luke’s guilt.

Naomi also reflects on new persons of interest, DNA evidence, peculiar behaviour of individuals connected to the case, and shocks Dawn with recent developments in the case.

Our latest episode, The Unsolved Murder of Scottish born Elizabeth Mackintosh, is Out Now!

In this episode, I'm joined by the fabulous Kay from the podcast FMWLPod, where we both tell of the unsolved murder of 50 year old Elizabeth Mackintosh.

Elizabeth Mackintosh was born in Scotland in 1940. She grew up in a devout family; her father, James, was a theology professor and later a moderator for the Free Church of Scotland. Elizabeth worked as a nurse and health visitor in Edinburgh, then a social worker in London, before moving to America. In Creve Coeur, Missouri, Elizabeth was a student at The Covenant Theological Seminary, working towards a master’s degree in biblical counselling while also working part-time as a cleaner to finance her studies.

Tragically, Elizabeth was found murdered in the seminary’s men’s toilet on 26 March 1990. The investigation into her death saw multiple suspects but ultimately remained unresolved, even as new leads emerged over the years. Despite advances in forensic technology and renewed efforts by the police, the case remains open, with the prime suspect, a fellow student and Elizabeth’s cleaning supervisor, never charged due to insufficient evidence. Elizabeth’s remaining family continue to seek closure for this heinous crime that took away a beloved sister and daughter. Elizabeth’s life and untimely death left an indelible mark on her community and all who knew her. Her story is one of dedication, faith, and the enduring quest for justice.

Our latest episode, The Tray Main murder, is Out Now!

In 1980 Glasgow, the Main family’s world was shattered when 13-year-old Tracy was found murdered at home. Despite no signs of forced entry, Tracy’s body was discovered with multiple stab wounds and signs of a struggle. The investigation quickly focused on a neighbour of the Main family who had a mental age of eight and was known as “The Creeper”. It would be his disclosure of details that had not been released to the public that led to his arrest. However, everything was not as it seemed, which led to devastating consequences for the Main family who wanted justice for their daughter.

Dawn also spoke to Robbie from Cold Tapes, which is, an innovative, first-of-its-kind audio experience, which is part podcast, part murder mystery game; an audio whodunnit competition where you can play detective and be in with a chance of winning £10,000 and the title of Super Sleuth of the Year.

Our latest, slightly earlier than normal, episode is out now!

In this episode we had the absolute pleasure of working with John from Persons Unknown Podcast, who tells us about the unsolved murder of Ann Heron, whose life was tragically cut short in the summer of 1990. In this episode John tells us about Ann’s early life in Scotland, her move to England, and her marriage to Peter Heron.

We also hear from Ann's son, Ralph Cockburn, who kindly agreed to speak to me for this episode.

On a sweltering August day, after shopping in Darlington in the North East of England, Ann returned to Aeolian House. Ann’s body was later found by her husband. With no murder weapon, a questionable sexual motive, and Peter’s affair complicating the investigation, the case grew cold. Key sightings of a blue car and a mysterious jogger yielded no solid leads. Despite extensive efforts, including 5000 interviews and 2700 vehicles being checked, the identity of Ann’s killer remains a mystery, leaving Ann and Peter’s family searching for answers.

If you have any information that can help both families finally get the answers they so desperately need, and get justice for Ann Heron, if you're in the UK, please call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or call the Durham police via 101.

You can listen to part two now on the Persons Unknown podcast wherever you get your podcasts or by visiting https://personsunknown.buzzsprout.com/
