All right, so the epilogue for the Failsafe/Zur En Arrh story was pretty cool, and it was pure comic book shenanigans at it's best.

In brief, Failsafe/Zur made a clone of Bruce that ages really fast and had some if not most of Bruce's memories. After Failsafe/Zur is defeated, clone Bruce just runs away. He first had this Robin (weird but okay) and then just started aging really fast and basically died under the care of Bruce. Clone Bruce was around for like 2 issues lol

What I like about it is that this was a good way for Bruce to finally get his hand back after having a cybernetic hand for a while (which I didn't love). Crazy to learn that clone Bruce just cut his hand for OG Bruce. Then he just gets to see him (himself?) die of old age.

This was a crazy issue, but in all the good ways that make comic books such a fascinating medium. Loved it.

With all the news of the new creative teams for many DC books, it reminded me how much I really don't like Si Spurrier's The Flash. Especially after such a GREAT run by Jeremy Adams. I was chatting with on how I FORCED myself to read it due to my love of The Flash, but I gave up, and this is the exact issue with the exact panels that made me give up.

I just hate when writers mask their writing with fake complexity. This is a poor man's Grant Morrison. Really didn't like it. Even made me not appreciate Deodato's art, which I usually enjoy.

Big announcement, DC is going "All In" with an Absolute Universe set to launch in October. Basically, they're doing their own Ultimate Universe a la Marvel (who are currently doing their second take of an Ultimate Universe epically btw). Fresh takes on classic heroes, all building towards a larger story, with incredible creative teams. It's going to be hard not to compare it Marvel’s efforts. Here's hoping it's half as good as what Marvel’s done!

Everyone really needs to be reading Once Upon a Time at the End of the World. This a rich and complex story about relationships, commitments, love. About falling in love, growing old, and growing apart. All set during the end of the world. There's 3 arcs to this book, the series is about to end, one issue left, and each arc is so unique that you're surprised how well it all connects to the story of this particular couple.

Who else is reading DawnRunner? With 2 issues in I'm locked into this Evangelion-like book. The art by Evan Cagle is freaking fantastic which is perfect for the dark mood in this dystopian future that Ram V is building. Definitely recommend picking this up if you haven't already!

Now, this is how you do a resurrection! What an epic comeback for Magneto! This book was weird in all the right ways, dealing with mystical themes, great action scenes, and killer art on every page. Plus Storm being her regular badass to bring Magneto back and a cameo from Blue Marvel? What's not to love about this book. Real fun book.

TOMORROW!!! We get to go back to thw 90s and pick up where the incredible X-Men animated series left off!!! I've been really enjoying rewatching the series and seeing how it honestly got better with time. Seasons 3 and 4 are kinda the best tbh. I can't wait to check X-Men '97 out!

Finally catching up on Batman. Been catching up with Batman and Spider-Man actually. Will be reviewing them soon. So far I'm reading Gotham War and actually I'm kinda enjoying it...don't love it. Especially to how it divided the Bat-Family, or well, not sure if divide is the right word as everyone except Batman and Damian were on Catwoman's side. I'm halfway through it, will finish today or tomorrow!

Damn, this one actually hurt. Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama has passed away at the age of 68. Dragon Ball was a huge part of my childhood and adulthood. Hell, even now I've been enjoying catching up with Dragon Ball Super manga. Really wanted to see Akira work on adapting the new stories from the manga into more seasons of the Dragon Ball Super anime.

I love Daredevil in the white suit. What are we calling it? The God suit? The Angel suit? Just DD in white? This suit was a cool reveal towards the end of the incredible Zdarsky/Chechetto run and glad to see it back in action in the current run. This is so good!

Yesterday was my 40th birthday 🥳 and what better gift than to read the latest issue of the adventures of the middle-aged Spider-Man, Ultimate Spider-Man #2.

This book is just too perfect. From seeing him learning the ropes as a grown ass adult, to seeing young May discover daddy is this new mysterious superhero, to getting his ass whooped by the Shocker twice, and seeing JJJ and Ben be friends. This book is PERFECT. Oh, can't forget the art. The art is glorious!

Thanks to a recent conversation with I remembered I never finished Once and Future by Kieron Gillen, Dan Mora, and Tamra Bonvillain. So I've decided to start from the beginning and now finish this epic story.

While I love everything about this book, the writing, characters, overall story, the art (proper review later on), man I gotta say how much I love the coloring. It really is a vibe. Like look at these panels! See the mood it sets! Do you not love this!?

Bryan Hill and Stefano Caselli really captured the energy of this new take on Wakanda and our King in such an exciting way that reminded me of how it felt when I saw Ryan Coogler's Black Panther on screen for the first time.
