"In July, Seoul schools made a smart move: they announced a plan to bring more native English-speaking teachers to public schools.
Learning English is crucial for students and white collar employees in Korea, and many parents assume that learning from English-speaking teachers will offer their child(ren) an advantage. But the tuition fees for private schools (hagwons) are exorbitant, contributing to a cost-of-living crisis in South Korea. Hagwons are also notorious amongst foreigners for their poor treatment of employees.
Moving more students and teachers from hagwons to public schools would be a win for students, parents, and foreign teachers alike."

More English teachers coming to public schools to decrease the demand for hagwons.
