The Hope Squad is in its second year at the GAHS. They are a peer-to-peer evidence-based su***de prevention and intervention program where students are nominated by their peers to participate. Those nominated must be easy to talk to, good listeners, non-judgmental, have a drive to help others, team
players, and be able to maintain confidentiality.

HOPE Squad members learn to recognize warning signs and changes within their peers. They develop skills to successfully communicate with peers without judgement and persuade that student to seek help by talking to their counselor, social worker, or a trusted adult. Our members offer support and empower those who may be contemplating su***de or struggling with depression/anxiety, something we
are seeing an increase of in adolescents.
