Que tristeza mas grande al enterarme de la subita partida del gran amigo, el maestro Quique Talavera. La musica esta de luto en Puerto Rico. Este caballero literalmente escribio el libro de la musica y baile en Puerto Rico: "La Metamorfosis de la Musica en Puerto Rico". Lamento profundamente la pérdida del maestro Quique Talavera. Su legado en la música y su contribución a la historia de los bailes de salón en Puerto Rico son invaluables. Como arreglista, músico, compositor y director de orquesta, dejó una huella imborrable en la escena musical.
Quique Talavera nació en Santurce, Puerto Rico, el 6 de diciembre de 1948. (Yo tambien naci un 6 de Diciembre}. Durante su carrera, participó como director musical de muchos artistas internacionales. Además, acompañó a artistas a festivales musicales y en giras por diferentes países. Llegó a trabajar con Sophie, Carmita Jiménez, Flor de Loto, y José Luis Rodríguez, con quien viajó todo el hemisferio occidental, desde Argentina hasta California.
Quique, el director musical, quien en 1972 organizó su propia orquesta, se distinguió como arreglista y director musical para presentaciones personales y para más de 45 discos de larga duración para diversos artistas, tales como: Ednita Nazario, Iris Chacón, Raúl Vale, Cheo Feliciano, Rafael José, Charytin, Tony Croatto, Blanca Rosa Gil, Yolandita Monge, Chucho Avellanet, Julio Ángel, Gilberto Monroig, Pijuan, Lucecita, Basilio, Flor de Loto, José Luis Rodríguez, Armando Manzanero, Wilkins y Black Guayaba, entre muchos otros.
