I wish these signs were posted all over High Park.

If you are going to feed any wildlife, please do your research first and make sure that you are not doing more harm than good. You should NEVER feed coyotes or foxes. If you love wild animals you need to also understand and respect them.

The July issue features Jowi Taylor, the father of Six String Nation and conceiver of the Voyageur guitar. The guitar is made of 64 pieces of Canadian history. 30% of the items are contributions from First Nations, Inuit and Metis communities including the only piece ever taken from the legendary Golden Spruce - Kiidk'yaas - of Haida Gwaii which became the top of Voyageur - literally the face and voice of the guitar and everything it stands for. For a more fulsome explanation of the Indigenous contributions to the guitar see the Six String Nation FB page.

I was quite rightly called out for failing to acknowledge Pride Month in the Editor's Letter to Residents in the June issue of the magazine. I strive to make our magazine as reflective of our community as possible, but I have failed our 2SLGBTQ+ neighbours. I would like to change that. The July issue is already at the printer and I have completed the interview for the resident who will be featured in the August issue, but I would love to feature a couple from the 2SLGBTQ+ community on the cover of the September issue. Please contact me if you would like to nominate yourself or someone you know [email protected]
Wishing you all a Happy Pride! Patti

Happy Day! Just because we are in lockdown doesn't mean we can't participate in restoring our earth. Bring your own canvas bag, food container, coffee cup if you have to be out today, put on a pair of gloves and do your own neighbourhood or shoreline cleanup, turn out the lights in unoccupied rooms, don't let the water run while doing your teeth. What act of green are you performing today?

Don’t forget to dim the lights on Saturday March 27th from 8:30 - 9:30 PM for

Here are some suggestions for what to do during the hour:

Get Romantic – candlelight dinners are made for romance. If anyone out there is thinking of popping the question, wouldn’t Earth Hour be the perfect opportunity?

Get Spooky – ghost stories are best told by the light of a fire. Light a fire in the fireplace, get out the marshmallows and see who can tell the scariest story.

Get Mindful – a scented candle can help you clear your mind as you journey into a rejuvenating hour of deep meditation.

Get Sleepy – if all else fails, go to bed early and catch up on your sleep. Is it just me, or has this pandemic thrown everyone’s sleep schedule way off course?
