Fighting mom burnout tip: Using power tools to refresh something old helps take out aggression and refreshes your spirit too. As an added bonus: you cant hear the kids arguing over the sound of the power tools so you get extra motivation to keep going u til the job is done! 😄😆

I’m not going to lie… I’m a bit of a burned out mom right now. I am touched out. I am mommed out. I am needed out. I am out of patience with all the fights, arguing, wrestling and crying. Trying to get a moment to myself and not be needed for just a little bit feels next to impossible.

I love my kids and snuggles and I even love being needed at times, but moms need a break too. A guilt-free break at that! I’ve talked to so many moms lately who all seem to be feeling the same way. Burned out, missing strong friendships, needing space to breathe and create. Friends, grab the time away where you can and do not be afraid to voice what you need. It is far better than bottling it up and letting it fester because it WILL explode. When things explode, people get hurt and damage is done. Don’t wait until your actions don’t reflect your true self. Dig deep and give yourself the effort and care you deserve.

I just took what I’m going to start calling a “sanity walk”. I was reading a book and had just poured a glass of wine when the book took a turn about how we need to really push ourselves to do the things we know are good for us instead of turning to bad things like alcohol and junk food when we’re stressed or burned out.

Of course not long into my walk it started to rain because we don’t get to have clear sunny skies here anymore apparently and I just kept walking. Didn’t pick up the pace or head back home yet because walking in the rain is better than burn out. Now I’m claiming sanctuary in the back of my van with a sparkling juice from Aldi while Nick and the kids think I’m still out on a walk. The wine had kind of turned anyway.

If your plans for this year (or in general) are to live better and healthier, whether that is working out, losing weight, reducing stress, improving mental health or all of the above… Whatever your goal, DON’T. GIVE. UP.

2 years ago I was scared, broken and weak. Begging God for answers, I opened my Bible and this was the passage he sent to me and I had finally had some hope although the journey to healing was hardly beginning at that moment.

More to come later, but for now I encourage you to stay the course. Don’t give up on living better and feeling better. It is indeed a marathon, not a sprint.

The work is hard, but change that mindset to letting go of what no longer serves you and your hands will be wide open to receive God’s blessings He is waiting to rain down on you.

It's amazing how quickly the seasons change... here in Kentucky and in life. I've been pretty quiet for the last month. Just before the holidays while we were running around even crazier than normal, my husband and I decided we want to slow down. Like waaaaaaay down. We're slowing down to focus on making memories with our family, as well as our health and happiness. We are so excited for this new leg of our journey together!

I am no longer taking on new clients or trips to plan for now, and at the end of June 2023, my final clients will have traveled. Instead, I'll be working on raising up these kiddos.

I am incredibly grateful for all of the clients I have been able to assist. In the last 2 years, I have planned trips to 11+ countries on 4 continents, serving up wonderful memories for people on family vacation, celebrating birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, oh so many honeymoons and others just wanting to get away to recharge their batteries. I'm so thankful for your trust and business!

It doesn't end here. I am still connected to my agency, now known as PT Travel. These women have been nothing short of amazing and I have learned so much from them. Day of the Dead explained:

Also known as Dia de los Mu***os, the Day of the Dead is a two-day holiday spanning Nov. 1st and 2nd. It is believed during this time that the spirits of those who have passed on before us are reunited with their families for 24 hours. The living will create ofrendas (offerings) to honor their loved ones who have died by decorating altars with candles, flowers, pictures of the departed and their favorite food and drinks. In Mexican culture, you can find families enjoying a meal and spending time at the graves of their loved ones during these days.

November 1st, beginning at midnight, is Dia de los Angelitos for the spirits of the children. November 2nd is Dia de los Difuntos for the spirits of adults.

Why the colorful skulls and skeletons?? The bright colors and decorations covering skulls is meant to take away the fear of death and instead celebrate it as a part of life.

My colleague sums it up perfectly!!

I often get comments like “your job sounds like so much fun” or “you must get to travel for free”. Yes, working in the travel industry does have occasional perks. However, I’m also very upfront regarding the reality of the industry. First of all, Travel Advisors don’t travel for free (although that would be amazing). I have a passion for travel, and I manage my income for it to be a priority for my family. Daily responsibilities of being a Travel Advisor and small business owner often include being available nights and weekends, working 60 hours a week during busy season, being accessible in case of emergency, waiting on hold for hours so my clients don’t have too, trouble shooting during last minute cancellations or emergencies, dealing with airline drama…just to name a few. It’s a stressful job. I do it because I think travel is valuable and important. I love supporting the dream of experiencing this complex world we live in.
