New Workin' It for Thanksgiving!

Emily Staalberg is co-owner of Steel Acres, a family farm in Ojai CA. In this episode we finally get an answer as to why there is never a shortage of beets in your farm share or CSA. Emily also gives us the low down on the ups and downs of life on the farm (yes, one bunny can devour 300 cauliflower plants in a single night!) But no matter the hardships (and rogue bunnies) that the farm faces, Emily is never deterred from her mission tend the land and sustainably produce delicious and nutritious food for the community. This is such a fun and inspiring episode!

Mikael Jorgensen is the keyboardist for Wilco, one of the most celebrated indie rock bands of the last 25 years. In our conversation we find out if a degree from DeVry University is essential to being in the band and try to get to the bottom of just what's up with the water pressure at the Wilco Loft. This is is one of our favorite episodes ever and we're thrilled that it's our SEASON 2 PREMIERE! Lester Cook was a professional tennis player for 6 years. He won 8 professional singles titles and 18 doubles titles, reaching a career high ranking of No. 191 in singles and No. 175 in doubles. He competed in all 4 grand slams as a pro and participated in 3 World Team Tennis seasons. In our talk, we chat about what life was like on the margins of the ATP tour and how Lester came to have such a great perspective on all that he did (and did not) accomplish in tennis. This was such a funny and interesting conversation about one of the lesser known sides of professional sports!

SEASON 1 FINALE!! Such a great episode as we have Sophie Ward Koren on to discuss her time as a model. Sophie had a lot of success walking the runway for designers such as Armani and Diane von Furstenberg and appearing in Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. As successful as she was, she also struggled with an eating disorder and felt forever in the shadow of her supermodel sister. This was a wonderful, candid and ultimately uplifting conversation that is the perfect way to end this fun first season of Workin’ It Pod!
