What is WWRS: The Forge about? What's the function of this page? Why do I do it?
Three things: The first is that I'm a dyed-in-the-wool #metalhead and have been since late 1987 and I'm thoroughly sick of the lack of exposure for our type of music. It's got better since I started, but not enough. That’s why I started The Wyrd Ways Rock Show back in 2008. That ran until 2018, but then because of various situations, I pretty much called it quits. Thing is, I’ve started to get the itch back properly. The Forge is an outlet for all my creativity, of which The Wyrd Ways Rock Show is a part.
The second thing is that despite the likes of Planet Rock, Absolute Classic Rock, Kerrang and Primordial Radio appearing, there's still a lack of radio shows playing new music (of those mentioned, only Primordial Radio has new music as part of their mission statement). The Forge is me making the effort to help redress that glaring omission.
The third thing is that I need more listeners. The more listeners I can get, the more people get to hear these new bands and the new music from the more established bands. The more people get to hear them, the more exposure they'll get, which should lead to more gigs and more new music, rather than recycling of songs from 20 years ago.
