Attention!! HOME RENTAL SCAM!!
If you are looking to rent a home in Fort Worth Arlington, Everman, and surrounding areas do not rent from anyone on social media. People are paying cash money to rent homes and the renters are giving fake lease agreements on homes they do not even own. These individuals are basically breaking in rental houses and changing the locks or getting codes from online home companies like “rent.com, open door, etc” and leasing them pretending to own the house.
If you plan on renting a house in DFW do the following.
1. Get a legitimate leasing agreement.
2. Get a legitimate contact person.
3. If they want you to only pay buy cash it’s probably a scam.
4. If they want you to meet at a QT or racetrack instead of an office or the actual house, it’s probably a scam.
5. If they tell you they will put the keys and the contract in the mailbox it’s probably a scam.
If you are found to be in a home that you rented illegally you will be immediately evicted and arrested in most cases on the spot for trespassing in a habitation. So don’t pay 3k - 5K just to be put out in a few days.
This is a very popular scam in the DFW area.
Rent through legitimate companies.
