Fever Star muses over "different" Caitlin Clark fans clear

Late last month the Indiana Fever tied up star Kelsey Mitchell for at least one more season with a guaranteed supermax pay of $249,244.

Playing with Caitlin Clark, Mitchell had the greatest of her seven-year WNBA career averaging 19.2 points per game while shooting 46.8% from the field and 40.2% from 3-point range.

"I'm happy Kelsey is coming back to Fever," head coach Stephanie White remarked on re-signing Mitchell. " From the minute she was drafted, she has been a vital component of this franchise. From the sidelines from her time in college, I have seen her path and have always respected her work ethic, game style, and interactions with her colleagues. Working with her will thrill me.

For more than one reason, the Fever star will be glad to be back performing alongside Clark next season. Apart from her performance on the court with Clark, Mitchell wants to remain on the right side of Clark's passionate supporters.

"Having it, I adore fans of Caitlin Clark. But the supporters of Caitlin Clark are unique," Mitchell noted on a recent podcast interview. "C-squared, buddy, gang. shoutout to you They go ride or die and are quite enthusiastic people.

Let's just say, C-squared makes me glad since I am on the correct end of it.About Caitlin Clark's admirers, the only thing I would say is that they accompany her everywhere she goes. Still, I find it to be really cool. She has created that sort of platform since they will practically follow her anyplace. That's lit, like damned.

After Cancer Diagnosis, Caitlin Clark Messages Support to Former Iowa Teammate

After Ava Jones revealed a fatal illness, Caitlin Clark offered love to former Iowa Hawkeyes teammate.

Former Iowa Hawkeyes basketball player Ava Jones has had a sad few years.

According a February 8 KCRG.com post, "Jones and her family were injured by a vehicle in Louisville, just days after she committed to play basketball Iowa. Trey Jones's father passed away. Ava had a terrible brain damage. Amy's mother also suffered injuries.

Later on the piece said, "Jones was still put on scholarship, and on the Iowa women's basketball team as a freshman, but medically retired from basketball in 2024."

On February 8, Jones published another heartbreaking post on Instagram featuring a video labeled "I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma after the biopsy results came back. This is the news nobody wants to hear, but especially after working my butt off and recovering after being hit by a car for the past 2 and a half years. My physique is really robust, and I have faith in the Iowa doctors here.

According to the Mayo Clinic, "hodgkin lymphoma is a type of cancer affecting the lymphatic system."

On Iowa's roster for the 2023–24 campaign were Caitlin Clark and Jones. And in a response on Jones' Instagram post, Clark penned, "Praying for you kid ❤️".

Other former Hawkeyes players who expressed their support included Gabbie Marshall, who penned, "❤️❤️ So much love for you Ava!"

Right now, the whole Hawkeyes fan base is rallying around Jones. Though the news is terrible following an unthinkable past several years, hopefully Jones will take comfort in the support her university and community has given her (and will continue to get).

Caitlin Clark reacts to ex-Iowa teammate's cancer diagnosis after deadly automobile tragedy ended career.

After former Hawkeyes player Ava Jones revealed her cancer diagnosis just 30 months after a car accident cut off her basketball career, Iowa icon Caitlin Clark contacted her.

Former Iowa basketball recruiter Ava Jones was medically retired from the Hawkeyes program and subsequently diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Jones revealed her illness on Instagram and has been inundated with supportive comments; former Iowa star and current WNBA player Caitlin Clark has also contacted her. "Praying for you kid," Clark answered Jones' message, adding that current Hawkeyes star Lucy Olsen also sent her support.

Two and a half years after Jones was seriously injured in an automobile accident during her final year of high school, the uncommon cancer diagnosis arrives. Jones sustained a brain injury; her mother also suffered greatly; sadly, her father perished in the crash.

"I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma after the results from the biopsy came back," Jones posted on Instagram. "This is the news no one ever wants to get, but especially after spending the last 2 and a half years working my butt off and recovering from getting hit by a car.

She finished, "My body is very strong and I am confident in the doctors here at lowa." Jones still got her scholarship following the crash and was listed as a freshman on the Hawkeyes roster, where she was teammates with Clark up to her medical retirement from basketball in 2024.

Having spoken with the former basketball player, Iowa head coach Jan Jensen is positive Jones will survive the cancer. "While this news is so hard to believe, there's no question Ava will fight like she has so courageously in every realm," she stated.

"She said in our first chat that she is going to kick it. And she has always found great benefit from this mindset.

Having been ranked as a top 100 recruit (84th overall) from the 2023 class, Jones has had a difficult start to life. During her sophomore and junior years of high school, Jones averaged over 20 points per game; nevertheless, her life changed in July 2022 when she was in Louisville for an AAU basketball tournament with her family only days after pledging to Iowa.

Following a five-day trial held in Jefferson County, Kentucky, Michael Hurley of Indiana was found guilty of three counts of assault for colliding while intoxicated. Though the jury advised a 75-year sentence, Hurley was sentenced to 70 years in December 2024.

Hurley reportedly drove into the Jones family in downtown Louisville intoxicated. With Ava's father, Trey Jones, regrettably dying days later, the impaired motorist mounted a curb and struck the Jones family.

Ava Jones tore the ligaments in both knees, damage her shoulder, and sustained a traumatic brain injury. While Ava's younger brother Creek escaped major harm, her mother, Amy Jones, broke 21 bones and also had a brain injury.

Bengals's Joe Burrow Shouts Out Caitlin Clark, Has Plans to Attend Fever Game 2025

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow promised to visit an Indiana Fever game next season to see WNBA star Caitlin Clark in action and shouted out to her.

"Shout out Caitlin Clark, she's always fun to watch," Burrow told reporters. "She's probably drawing a lot of WNBA attendees from her fan count. Her improvement is going to keep. She's an hour and a half from Cincy, so I'll have to go make the journey.

Burrow's fifth NFL season just ended. Though the Bengals missed the playoffs, he had a career year with 4,918 yards and 43 touchdowns, topping the league in both points scored and quarterback rating.

In the 2023 NCAA women's national championship game 102-85, former Iowa State Hawkeye Clark lost against LSU, Burrow's alma mater. She returned the next season, though, and vanquished LSU in an Elite Eight triumph.

In her rookie, Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 8.4 assists and 1.3 steals a game. Finishing 20-20, the Fever came third in the Eastern Conference.

NFL player Travis Kelce, whose girlfriend, Taylor Swift, was seen at a Kansas City Chiefs game with Clark during a postseason game, also took an eye to her excellent debut season.

Sydney Colson signed with the Indiana Fever, perhaps influenced in part by Kate Martin's compliments of Caitlin Clark.

News of two-time WNBA champion Sydney Colson's free agency contract with the Indiana Fever leaked on February 4.

Colson said in her February 6 team press release response to her choice to join the Fever, "I am very excited about this new opportunity with Indiana." I trust what I know about a number of Fever players and coaches. Being a part of the vision the staff has for this team excites me, and I am ready to get started.

From a February 7 story from TheNextHoops Fever writer Tony East, "The Indiana Fever really wanted Colson," an unusual wrinkle was added into Colson's eventual choice. Caitlin Clark especially hoped Colson could be on the squad.
Given Colson's performance with Clark's buddy Kate Martin during Martin's debut season with the Las Vegas Aces, this quotation begs one to question whether Martin's seal of approval is what drove Clark to desire for Colson to join Indiana.

Reporting from Athletes Unlimited presenter Emily Proud on a February 7 game suggests the reverse is apparently true.

"She replied, "You know what? My career is drawing to a close. I simply wanted to be somewhere that strives for success with great emphasis on culture.'" Proud remarked of Colson's perspective on her free agency choice, based on an X post . "She said that Kelsey Mitchell was actually the first person she hit up because they built a bond here, playing AU for the last three years."

Later, Proud stated, "She claimed she heard some nice things about Caitlin Clark from her Aces teammate Kate Martin as well. That helped to make the choice simple.

Martin obviously painted Clark in a positive light, which would have persuaded Colson to sign on to the Fever.

Fever Reporter Says Sydney Colson's 'Hoped' Team Would Sign Caitlin Clark

According to Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, her team followed her advice to make this WNBA free agency acquisition.

Announced earlier this month, WNBA veteran and two-time champion Sydney Colson accepted an offer from the Indiana Fever in free agency.

Colson was quoted in a February 6 press release stating, "I trust what I know about certain players and coaches from the Fever. Being a part of the vision the staff has for this team excites me, and I am ready to get started.

Colson will obviously be the backup point guard behind Fever standout Caitlin Clark. And according on a February 7 TheNextHoops Fever piece written by Tony East, Clark wanted Colson hired for this position.

"The Indiana Fever really wanted Colson. Specifically, Caitlin Clark hoped Colson would be on the squad," East noted.

"The team thinks Colson will fit in nicely as the backup point guard behind Clark and has a strategy for her on the hardwood. Colson should have greater utilization in Indiana than she did with Las Vegas; finding the proper role was crucial in free agency." he said.

Alongside Colson on the Las Vegas Aces for the 2024 regular season was Clark's best friend Kate Martin. Maybe Martin told Clark about how outstanding of a player and teammate she is on and off the court.

Colson's contagious nature makes it interesting to watch how she fits the Fever's present lineup and what kind of camaraderie and culture that results from it.

Angel Reese is trending following Breanna Stewart's shoved down.

Back in action Friday night, Chicago Sky big Angel Reese and the Rose Basketball Club faced New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart and the Mist Basketball Club in the first season of the new 3-on--3 women's basketball league Unrivalled.

Reese and Rose BC discover themselves seated at 2-4 entering Friday's contest after defeating Laces BC last Saturday. Conversely, Stewart and Mist BC are off two straight victories and also sit 2-4 ahead of Friday's matchup.

Reese and Stewart got a little rowdy in the opening quarter, which had about five minutes left. Reese selected her pocket as the Liberty forward was moving toward the hoop and started sprinting down the court with the ball.

As the former LSU Tigers standout was trying a layup, Stewart was able to catch up to Reese and slammed her from behind, quite forcefully on the deck.

Reactions to the Reese and Stewart incident were varied among WNBA and Unrivaled supporters who left comments on social media.

"Her falling on her arm like that lowkey scared me..." one fan remarked.

"Reese and Stewart about to get into it LOL," said another.

Third said, "lmaoos, I know Stewie hates to see Angel coming."

Said a fourth, "stewie what."

"Stewie is sick of Angel Reese picking her pockets," a fifth said.

A sixth said, "now why she do that?"

For their different Unrivaled teams, Reese and Stewart are both having strong seasons. Reese was scoring 10.1 points and pulling 9.4 rebounds at the time this story was written. Just a few months from a WNBA title, Stewart is scoring 17.1 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.

Friday was not the first visit Reese and Stewart made to Miami, Florida. On January 25, Rose BC won the first match 71-66.

Before Super Bowl LIX, Caitlin Clark Sighting Is Drawing Attention

Right around the bend is Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. And many stars have already arrived for the major game in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Among the prominent personalities expected to be at the Superdome is Travis Kelce's girlfriend, Taylor Swift. The Grammy-winning musician has seen each of the Chief's two postseason games thus far and even brought a surprise guest with her in the Divisional Round.

It turns out that a special guest has arrived in New Orleans as Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was seen Friday at Gatorade's Super Bowl celebration.

Former Iowa Hawkeyes guard Clark may be seen instructing a fan as they put up some shots in many videos uploaded online. One may even see Trevor Lawrence, quarterback for Jacksonville Jaguars, in the backdrop.

Though it is yet unknown whether Clark will show up for the Super Bowl, her appearance in NOLA has definitely attracted some internet notice. WNBA supporters left their opinions on social media.

"Caitlin is seated with Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl absolutely! She is not flying only for a Gatorade event, one admirer said.

A second said, "CC was like Caitlin nice to meet you...girl they know who you are...hence the 'Hey Caitlin'...she was in str8 business mode."

"cc has such good energy," wrote still another.

A fourth noted, "She looks RIPPED."

A fifth said, "caitlin introducing herself like they don't know."

Like Swift in the music business, Clark has risen to become of the most well-known figures in women's athletics. Fever has two-time. WNBA champion Sydney Colson on roster headed by Caitlin Clark

On Thursday, the Indiana Fever signed free agency guard Sydney Colson, adding still another WNBA champion to cover behind All-Star point guard Caitlin Clark.

Colson spent the last three seasons with Las Vegas, the team with the past two league championships. She also played a major role for the 2011 NCAA champion Texas A&M Aggies.
General manager Amber Cox said in a statement: Sydney is a proven veteran in our league and during her career delivered for her clubs in many significant events. "She gives the Fever a championship pedigree, which sharpens our point guard stance. We really believe she can enter any scenario and perform on both sides of the floor."

Since being chosen by the Connecticut Sun in 2011 and later moved to the New York Liberty, Colson has averaged 2.8 points and 1.6 assists. Her career shooting percentage is 40.4%, and during the first of the Aces' two title runs she had a career-best 44.4%.

The six-time playoff veteran, who will probably assist Clark, carries on Indiana's trend this offseason. Indiana had traded for shooting guard Sophie Cunningham, who spent the past six seasons with title-contesting Phoenix, and signed free agent forwards Natasha Howard and DeWanna Bonner, both with championship rings.

From a squad that ended a seven-year playoff drought last season before departing in the first round of the playoffs, they will join a Fever nucleus headed by three returning All-Stars — Clark and forward Alyah Boston, the last two WNBA Rookies of the Year, and shooting guard Kelsey Mitchell.

Colston believes she will fit quite nicely in Indiana.

"This fresh chance with Indiana excites me greatly. From the Fever, I know several players and coaches; I trust what I know about them." Colson remarked. "I'm ready to get to work and thrilled to be a part of the vision the staff has for this team."
