One of my favorite reads of the year. 🐎 Tasked with managing his late grandfather’s horse racing operation amid scandal; Vaughn is doing his best. He’s thrown himself into his work. He’s so caught up in the new role that the suits he used to wear to the boardroom are his attire to the stables. He needs a new trainer for his prized horse if they are going to stay out of the red. Thankfully Billy (ie) comes highly recommended. 🐎 Billie has worked her tail off to get where she is. In a man’s world she’s had to work twice as hard. Fresh off her flight from Ireland she goes to meet her new boss. He seems green, what person wears a suit to the stables?! Vaughn believes Billie to be another set up from his mother & not his next employee. Their meet cute wasn’t. Thankfully both Billie and Vaughn have quick wit and argue back and forth. Have you heard of these novellas from 1001 Dark Nights 1,001 Dark Nights & Blue Box Press? This was my 1st one and it won’t be my last! It’s a novella that is separate from an author’s books to give you a taste of their writing. What a clever idea. I will be checking out the back catalog for sure. A Vampire’s Kiss is set in the same world as Zanetti’s Dark Protector / Rebel world. In this story we meet Athan Maxwell, a vampire who saved his fated mate’s life Ivy and they became bonded, saving both of their lives. Now they only meet up four times a year to exchange blood to keep themselves healthy. Athan knows that his mate is a strong woman, he’s attracted to her independence & wit but his guilt over making her immortal makes him stick to the deal of only meeting up four times a year. However, when he discovers a new threat on her life, his promise of sitting back and leaving her alone goes right out of the window. A Vampire’s Kiss gave quite a bit of backstory on the world that perhaps isn’t necessarily needed in a novella. Thankfully the story was intriguing and fast paced. Did I mention there was some spice to it too? 😉 This books has: ♥️ Fated mates ♥️ “Touch her and die” vibes ♥️ Steam ♥️ Car chases ♥️ Vampires All in under 200 pages! I was gifted this book from Brilliance Audio Brilliance Publishing and am so grateful. I was able to pop my head into this complex and detailed world. Narrator Stella Bloom was fantastic. She had American & Irish accents that transported me. Her inflections and intonations gave each character a unique voice that made for an enjoyable experience. The Hustler Next Door by K.A. Tucker ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ ✨I jumped at the opportunity to read this arc. If you saw my recap of 2022, you saw K.A. Tucker as an author that I love. I ended last year with The Player Next Door, the first in this series. It gave me all the feels. I adored it & the review will come soon too. ✨This book is the same city new main characters. The Hustler Next Door follows Justine, a fiesta firebrand, who speaks her mind and is fiercely loyal. Garrett is a man trying to prove himself as a contractor revitalizing Polson Falls, PA. ✨ In true K.A. Tucker style, this book is a wonderful read. She draws you in, makes you love the community of characters and sets you off to enjoy the sizzling chemistry. My only complaint was that I wanted a little less of a slow burn. I might have been too excited for the story to get going, because when it does 🔥. I really enjoyed the book and highly recommend it. This book has a strong woman main character, romantic love interest and witty banter that made me laugh many times. I enjoyed the diverse side characters and the addition of a cozy wild west historical mystery.
