Congratulations to Isabella Tate who was named finalist of the Advancing Band category this year!

COMPOSER BIO:
Young composer Isabella Tate is currently in the third year of her Bachelor of Music degree at the Queensland Conservatorium. Isabella’s passion for music began at the age of seven when she began learning the violin. Her love for music quickly grew as she picked up the flute and later piano. Throughout her studies, Isabella has started to discover her own personal style of music. She loves writing pieces that have stories or meaning behind them and enjoys composing for chamber ensembles. Isabella has had several of her compositions premiered by fellow musicians in concerts at the Conservatorium. She has also scored a couple of short films for the Swinburne University of Technology and the Griffith Film School. ‘Willow’ is Isabella’s first piece within the wind band genre.

🎉🎉🎉 ANNOUNCEMENT TIME!
Congratulations to Emma Olsen who was named winner of the Developing Band category this year!

COMPOSER BIO:
Emma Olsen composed and performed her first piano piece when she was 10. However, it was playing trombone in her primary school band that ignited her passion for ensembles. Growing up in Tamworth, Emma played in the local orchestra, concert band and big band. At the age of 15 her first orchestral composition was performed at a regional music camp.

It was these good memories of musical collaboration and community that inspired her to return to music at an older age. She is currently studying composition at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music with Gerardo Dirie.
