The officials of Drug Control Authority of Telangana and the Department have raided the medical shops in the city and acted for selling scheduled drugs (psychotropic drugs) without any prescriptions and charging more than the maximum retail price. The authorities have cancelled licenses of at least ten shops and suspended licenses of few shops
According to the officials, the scheduled drugs like Alprazolam Tablets should be given only with prescription but the medical shops in the city were flouting the norms and were giving them across the counter. The authorities cancelled the licenses of Ganesh at Inderbagh near Koti, Biosphere Enterprises at Medical and General Store permanently.
Similarly, the license of Sardar Medical Hall at Nampally was suspended for 3 days, the license of and General Stores was suspended for seven days, RS Medical and General Stores (wholesale and retail) at Langerhouz, Bharat Medical and General Stores at Charminar were suspended for three days, Al-Hamra Medical and General Store Humayunnagar was suspended for 15 days, Sri Ayyappa Medical and General Stores Uppal, Gokul Medical Shop at Gowliguda was suspended for 2 days, Meera Medical Shop Charminar was suspended for seven days and Life Pharma at Mangerbasthi was also suspended

The girl's parents alleged that she died due to the

As many as 15 stores belonging to 15 pharmacists, who were arrested in February over the illegal sale of anti-depressants, were raided by drug control authorities on Wednesday.
The licences of three shops were also cancelled.
H-NEW officials, in collaboration with the Malakpet and Kulsumpura Police, targeted dealers, suppliers and sellers involved in the illegal possession and distribution of narcotic and psychotropic drugs such as Codeine Phosphate Syrup and Alprazolam Tablets, an official said. These drugs were being diverted and illegally sold to 20 other drug sellers within Hyderabad, who, in turn, supplied them to customers.
The official stated, "All 15 offenders were arrested in connection with the case and have been placed in jail under the NDPS Act. While five of them have been released, the rest are still serving their judicial remand."
"The tablets in question are typically prescribed to regular patients at mental hospitals who require medication for hyperactivity and to alleviate their condition," the officer said. However, victims and customers were purchasing these tablets without valid papers, leading to drug abuse and consumption without proper medical supervision.

A high-level meeting on Bonalu arrangements was held at Harita Plaza, under the chairmanship of minister for animal husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav.

Speaking to the media, minister Srinivas Yadav said that Ashada Bonalu will start in a on June 22.

Mahankali Bonalu celebrations will begin on July 9 and a procession will be taken out on July 10.

After the formation of state, chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao declared Bonalu a state festival.

|| Reserve Bank of India has decided to withdraw Rs 2,000 denomination banknotes from circulation and asked all to exchange them by September 30,2023. The Rs 2,000 notes, however, will continue to be legal tender.

In a statement released on Friday, the central bank stated: 'In pursuance of the 'Clean Note Policy' of the Reserve Bank of India, it has been decided to withdraw the ₹2000 denomination banknotes from circulation. The banknotes in ₹2000 denomination will continue to be legal tender. To complete the exercise in a time-bound manner and to provide adequate time to the members of public, all banks shall provide deposit and/or exchange facility for ₹2000 banknotes until September 30, 2023.'

Explaining the move, the RBI said: 'About 89% of the ₹2000 denomination banknotes were issued prior to March 2017 and are at the end of their estimated life-span of 4-5 years. The total value of these banknotes in circulation has declined from ₹6.73 lakh crore at its peak as on March 31, 2018 (37.3% of Notes in Circulation) to ₹3.62 lakh crore constituting only 10.8% of Notes in Circulation on March 31, 2023. It has also been observed that this denomination is not commonly used for transactions. Further, the stock of banknotes in other denominations continues to be adequate to meet the currency requirement of the public.'

RBI said members of the public may deposit Rs 2,000 banknotes into their bank accounts or exchange them into banknotes of other denominations at any bank branch. 'Deposit into bank accounts can be made in the usual manner, that is, without restrictions and subject to extant instructions and other applicable statutory provisions,' it said.

The central bank added, 'In order to ensure operational convenience and to avoid disruption of regular activities of bank branches, exchange of Rs 2000 banknotes into banknotes of other denominations can be made upto a limit of ₹20,000/- at a time at any bank starting from May 23, 2023.' Additionally, the facility for exchange of Rs 2,000 bank notes up to the limit of Rs 20,000 at a time will be provided at the 19 Regional Offices of the RBI having issue departments from May 23.
