Go East Tennessean!

The East Tennessean, the student-run newspaper of ETSU, won the Summit Award for Outstanding Educational Program for its 2023 yearlong celebration of its 100th anniversary year. Launched as The Chalk Line in 1923, the East Tennessean marked the anniversary with a series of events throughout 2023.

Held each spring, The Summit is ETSU’s premier recognition event for outstanding campus programs and distinguished student leaders, which celebrates the superior accomplishments of students outside the classroom.

Pictured are East Tennessean 2024-25 Executive Editor Macy Strader and 2023-24 Executive Editor Connor Lute, both ETSU Department of Media and Communication majors, with Dr. Joe Sherlin, Vice President for Student Life and Enrollment, and ETSU President Brian Noland.

Congratulations, Macy!

The issue highlights the growing link between Johnson City and downtown and some of the challenges that accompany that growth. There is a look at the downtown coffee scene, a feature on the popular Johnson City Doughboys Appalachian League team and much more. The print edition will be available in racks across campus, and you can read the full digital edition at https://www.calameo.com/books/005377509897a4f622ce0 .
