Nigerian Students Association, NANS, Declares Nationwide Protest Against Detention Of Student On Orders Of Power-drunk First Lady, Aisha Buhari
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has declared a nationwide protest against President Muhammadu Buhariâs wife, Aisha and the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, over the arrest of a student.
The student of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State, Aminu Muhammed was arrested, detained and remanded in prison for criticising Aisha Buhari in a Twitter post.
Earlier it was reported that Muhammed, a final-year student in the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, in June 2022 posted on Twitter that Mrs Buhari had suddenly added weight after taking part in plundering the nationâs meagre resources as the masses endured hardship under her husbandâs regime.
The wife of the President is known for frivolous trips to Dubai.
However, Usman Barambu, NANS National President in a statement condemned the continued detention of Muhammed.
Barambu also declared a nationwide protest on Monday, December 5 against the barbaric action of the First Lady and police.

Aisha Buhari Fractured Her Leg, Rushed To Hospital While Trying To Join In Physically Assaulting Nigerian Student Arrested Over Twitter Post
The wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, sustained injury while physically abusing a student of the Federal University, Dutse, Aminu Adamu Muhammed, who was arrested over a Twitter post.
This was confirmed by the publisher of Daily Nigerian, Jaâafar Jaâafar, who noted that Mrs Buhari while attempting to throw a kick on the student, slipped and fractured her leg.

Meanwhile, while giving an update, Jaâafar said, âFrom my findings, it was not SSS but plain-clothed policemen who arrested & tortured a final-year student and another lady named Zainab Kassim (a former social media aide to First Lady). The operation was engineered and executed by Aisha Buhariâs ADC Usman Shugaba.
The tweet, which was posted in Hausa reads: âSu mama anchi kudin talkawa ankoshi.â
The tweet, which was accompanied by a photograph of Mrs Buhari, loosely translates as âMama has eaten poor peopleâs money and is now fullâ.
According to his friends, he made the post because he was frustrated about the prolonged strike by universities across the country.
The strike started in February 2022 and ended in October after eight months.
However, on November 8, 23-year-old Muhammed was picked up by security operatives on campus and was reportedly beaten up following his arrest around noon.
He had said he was beaten and taken to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
It was reported earlier that Muhammed, a final-year student in the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, in June 2022 posted on Twitter that Mrs Buhari had suddenly added weight after taking part in plundering the nationâs meagre resources as the masses endured hardship under her husbandâs regime.
Muhammadâs arrest has caused a lot of concern in the university and also among the parents considering the security situation in the country.
The arrest sparked outrage on social media as many people criticised the First Lady, who is yet to publicly comment on the issue.

Fake FBI Commander, One Other Arraigned For $2.8m Fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, arraigned one Ijeboi Dennis and Obade Monday Christian before Justice Abubakar Baba Shani of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja.
Dennis,(aka Andrew Tran huynh) and Monday, who also claimed to be a Commander with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, as well as a Diplomat Director, were arraigned on a five count- charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining the sum of Two Million, Eight Hundred and Twenty Two Thousand, Eight Hundred and Sixty United States Dollars ($2, 822,860.00) by false pretense.
According to the charge, the defendants conspired to defraud one Holly Ngo, a United States Citizen while posing as American doctors stranded in Afghanistan.
Counsel to the defendants, S.T Sanni attempted to abort the planned arraignment of the defendants today as he informed the court that the defendants only received the charge and proof of evidence on Wednesday, November 16, 2022
But his objection was overruled by the judge, who ruled that the prosecution had complied with Section 35 of the Constitution by producing the defendants in court, and ordered that, arraignment of the defendant should proceed
Count two of the charge against the defendants reads, âThat you, Ijeboi Dennis (aka Andrew Tran Huynh), Obade Monday Christian (aka FBI Commander/Diplomat Director), Ekhoguagbon Osazuwa Patrick (aka Patrick Paul)(still at large) and Omage Emmanuel Omole(now deceased) between January 2021 and September 2021, in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, with the intent to defraud, obtained an aggregate sum of $2,8822,860.00(Two Million, Eight Hundred and Twenty Two Thousand, Eight Hundred and Sixty United States Dollars) from Holy Ngo, a United States Citizens under the false pretense that you are American doctors stranded in Afghanistan, which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act,2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.â

2023: South-East, Middle Belt Forum Endorses Peter Obi
The South-East and Middle Belt Forum has endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi.
This was the groupâs position during a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday. The Chairman of the Forum Olisa Uzowulu noted that the former Anambra State governor ranks higher than all presidential candidates for next yearâs exercise.
âWe are going to go out there and fight a change. That is why you get the South-East, the Middle Belt, the South-South and the South-West to be one body and campaign for Peter Obi. There is no two-way about it,â he said during the conference.
âThe Forum has decided on it. We are going to go out and work for him as a group. There is no choice about that.â
As far as the Forum is concerned, Obiâs support base transcends tribe, religion, and ethnicity as the Chairman said the former governorâs aspiration is people-driven.
âIt is the people that are driving Obi, not even the party. They love him, people want a change. They are tired of the situation,â Uzowulu explained.
âThere is nothing to sell to people anymore â it is not tribe, or religion but the belief that we have to move ahead. People are going to make a choice this time, nobody is going to hoodwink them again.â
He, therefore, called on members of the Forum and its supporters across the regions to pick up their Permanent Voterâs Cards (PVCs) and vote en masse for the Labour Party candidate next year.
Obi is one of the leading contenders for the presidential seat alongside the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)âs Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

We Celebrated Your Removal As APC Chairman, Wike Tells Oshiomhole
Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has told Adams Oshiomhole that members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) celebrated when he was removed as the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oshiomhole was suspended by his ward in Edo State in March 2020 with a High Court in the Federal Capital Territory subsequently ordering Oshiomholeâs suspension as the APC national chairman, a move Wike said elicited joy in the main opposition PDP. Wike spoke at the inauguration of the Rumuepirikom Flyover in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on Wednesday.
He explained that their celebration for Oshiomholeâs removal was because of how strong he was while he led the ruling party and made things difficult for the opposition.
âI know you; you are not someone who will like to flatter anybody. You shoot straight. that is why when you were shooting straight as Chairman of the party, some people were not happy and they had to gang up for you to leave. So, you can see the reality. You may think you want to straighten things, and some people will call you back, âMy friend, you are straightening too much, bend!â
âNigerians donât like anything that is too straight. They will find a way to circumvent it to make sure the person who wants to do the right thing is taken out but Godâs time is the best and I believe that is Godâs time. If God didnât sanction it, it wonât have happened even though we were happy because you were too strong.
Wike, a PDP governor had invited non-PDP members including Oshiomhole for the inauguration of projects in the state.
Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is scheduled to inaugurate the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover on Thursday in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The governor has also scheduled invited President Muhammadu Buhari to inaugurate the Nabo Graham Douglas Campus, Nigerian Law School, in Obio/Akpor on Friday.

Nigerian Senate Demands Extension Of January 31 Deadline For Rejection Of Old Naira Notes
Bank of Nigeria should reconsider the January 31, 2023, deadline it set for the rejection of the old N200, N500 and N1000 naira notes.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) earlier announced its plan to redesign some naira notes.
The CBN had advised Nigerians to take old notes to banks for the new notes. The new notes included N200, N500 and N1000.
The upper chamber made this resolution after a heated debate on a motion moved by Senator Uba Sani on CBNâs policy to redesign the three naira notes.
Majority of Senators across party lines support the redesign of the naira but some of them are concerned about the deadline set by the apex bank for the old notes to be deposited in commercial banks.
Lawmakers also questioned the impact of the redesign of the naira note on the economy and if it would reduce the inflation rate and the dwindling value of the naira.
They asked the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele to provide further clarification on these issues.
They also worried about the effect of this policy on Nigerians in the rural areas and the unbanked.
The Senate consequently mandated its Committee on banking to embark on aggressive oversight to ensure that Nigerians were protected during this exercise.
Emefiele on October 26, 2022 announced that the apex bank would issue redesigned N200, N500, and N1,000 notes, effective December 15, 2022, while the new and existing currencies would remain legal tender and circulate together until January 31, 2023.

Iâll Quit Campaigns If Anybody Can Prove I Accepted Land Gift As Anambra Gov â Obi
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi says he will quit campaigns for the 2023 general elections if anyone can prove that he accepted land gift as governor of Anambra State.
The 61-year-old former governor stated this on Friday at the palace of the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, in Edo State.
The LP presidential flag bearer visited the revered Benin monarch when he and his team stormed Edo for campaigns ahead of next Februaryâs polls.
Receiving the politician in his palace, Oba Ewuare II used the opportunity to clarify a viral document where Obi rejected land allocation from the Anambra State Government while he was a serving governor.
âYour Excellency, somebody show me a letter where land was given to you in your state and you politely returned it that you donât need it; that you are there to serve and so on. Correct?â the first-class monarch asked.
âVery correct,â Obi responded.
âIf anybody sees a piece of land allotted to me, my wife, any of my family members, directly or indirectly when I was governor, I will stop campaigning,â the LP presidential candidate noted.
Obiâs two-term intermittent tenure as governor of Anambra between 2006 and 2014 was marred with legal battles up to the Supreme Court.
Obi was the running mate to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 general elections.
He, however, dumped the party early 2022 and joined the LP where he clinched the partyâs 2023 presidential ticket.
The ex-governor is in the 2023 race for A*o Rock alongside Atiku, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, amongst others.

Bayelsa Flood: Calls For Ministerâs Resignation Inappropriate â Presidency
The Presidency has said the scenes of flooding from Bayelsa State were deeply saddening, saying their thoughts are with victims of, and those affected by the floods.
The Presidency in a statement by presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, on Wednesday, however, said calls from some quarters for the resignation or sack of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, were not appropriate in this climate.
According to him, almost every state in Nigeria has been affected.
Stating that the Federal Government was concerned about what has happened in Bayelsa as it is with respect to the other States, he added that no life lost is bigger or lesser than that of the others.
He said, âthe challenge of bringing succour to the large number of the displaced people in Bayelsa and other states, the restoration of their damaged property and farmlands washed away have clearly overwhelmed disaster management efforts so far but that is not to say no efforts are being made.
âThe huge need for everything from foodstuff to tents, blankets and mosquito nets; antimalarial and other drugs clearly indicate that more resources are needed, not only by the disaster management agencies at the center but also by those at the State and local council levels that are structurally, the first responders.
âThe Minister has been diligently working to target assistance where itâs most needed and plug the gaps in several state governmentsâ disaster responses.
âThe state of Bayelsa has done commendably well but they certainly can do better with increased Federal assistance, which is still being delivered batch by batch.
âAll these efforts are coming ahead of the report of the committee under the auspices of the Nigerian Governors Forum, set up by the President âto fashion out solutions and then escalate their conclusions to the Federal Government, to alleviate the plight of people currently being ravaged by flood around the country.

Cultists Kill Eight as Iceland and Greenland groups fight for supremacy and territorial control battle in Rivers State
Gunmen suspected to be cultists, Saturday night, invaded Abuja housing estate in Ahoada town, Ahoada East Local Government Areas of Rivers State, reportedly killing about eight persons, and left a woman with serious bullet wounds.
Boom TV gathered that the cultists in search of cult members of a rival group, had engaged in a shoot-out. The rivalry was between the invaders suspected to be members of Greenland cult group and their rivals, Iceland cult group.
A source from the area, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed to Boom TV that as at Sunday morning, corpses of the deceased littered the estate.
The source informed Boom TV that residents scampered to safety and many others remained indoors for fear of being caught in the crossfire.
According to the source, âThere was no security presence for over two hours the shooting lasted. Some residents around the area, where the clash took place have deserted the place this Sunday morning.â
Boom TV learned that Iceland and Greenland cult groups had been involved in supremacy and territorial control battle in the past months with over twelve persons reportedly killed in the area.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the crime.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident, maintained that five persons died in the gun duel.
Iringe-Koko also disclosed that two victims had been deposited in a morgue in the area, while three corpses were removed by their family members for burial.

Nigerian Police Arrest, Detain Sheep For âStealingâ In Borno
The Borno State Police Command in Maiduguri has arrested and detained a lone sheep and her two lambs following a complaint that it ate a heap of fried fish displayed for sale.
The incident occurred at Bulabulin Ward in the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council on Saturday.
The sheep and her lambs were said to still be detained as at Sunday morning.
The arrest was made following a complaint lodged at the Bulabulin Divisional Police headquarters by one Yusuf Ibrahim who sells fish along a busy road in the neighbourhood.
According to Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst, Ibrahim complained that the sheep had been 'terrorising' him for years.
He said he had endured the intrusion and criminal behaviour of the animal for five years, but that its action on Saturday caused him huge losses.
Ibrahim further remarked that the sheep had formed the habit of coming around his shop and patiently keeping watch from a distance while he fried fish.
âAnd then as soon as my attention shifts, the sheep makes a dash towards the table and before I knew it, it had eaten as much as it could before being sent away,â he said.
He added that he had tolerated it for five years and had asked the owner to take action by putting the sheep on a leash. He, however, said his appeals were to no avail.
The owner of the sheep, one Luba Mohammed - a housewife, lamented that she does not know how and when the sheep developed a liking for fried fish.
She admitted that the fish seller had indeed complained to her several times over the years about the actions of the sheep.
The woman begged Ibrahim to temper justice with mercy and release the sheep, with a promise that she will either sell, slaughter or put it on a leash.

No Nigerian Should Complain Of Hunger Because We Have Farmlands, Rain From God â Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has told Nigerians to be willing to farm what they would eat or starve to death, stating that no one has the right to complain of hunger in Nigeria.
Buhari stated this on Wednesday in an interview with Tambarin Hausa TV, a Kano State-based media, that despite the floods that had devastated farming communities, Nigeria could still feed itself.
He added that one of the policies he undertook upon assuming office in 2015 was to block the Nigerian borders from food importation and force people back to farm.
Meanwhile, banditry, insurgency, and other criminal activities have driven thousands of farmers from their fields during the last seven years of Buhari government, as insecurity envelops vast swaths of ungoverned space across Nigeria, particularly in the North.
For instance, in November 2020, now fewer than 110 farmers were murdered by Boko Haram terrorists in northern Borno, according to the United Nations.
It was also learnt that many villagers in northern states such as Niger, Kaduna, and Katsina pay taxes to bandits and insurgents in order to work peacefully on their farms.

Police arrest Father for inflicting Razor blade cut on Nine years old son in Bayelsa
Operatives of the Akenfa Division of the Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested a 34-year-old Father, Elekele Messiah,along the Edepie road, a suburb of Yenagoa, the state for inflicting life-threatening injuries with Knife on his Nine years old son, Promise Messiah, for allegedly eating the remaining soup in the house while he was hungry.
We gathered that an angry mob of neighbors in the area had beaten the accused father to a pulp before he was rescued by a concerned Naval officer and handed to the Police for proper investigation and prosecution for his allege act against his son.
Residents of the area also contacted the members of the State chapter of International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) led by Demo Pamosoo Esq.
It was gathered that the accused father, who is an indigene of Okodi Village in Ogbia local Government area of the State had taken custody of the son from the wife in 2019 with a promise to provide better education for him in the state capital.
A neighbor, who pleaded anonymity, told journalists that instead of providing the child with proper education and good living condition, the accused father allegedly maltreated the child,â most nights, left on the street to sleep inside tricycle because the father's girlfriend was visiting. The boy most times was said to be left without food for days but neighbors gave the little they could for the sympathy they had for the boyâ.

Confirming the development, by Demo Pamosoo Esq. disclosed that when FIDA was contacted on the plight and situation of the victim, âWhen neighbors reported the matter to FIDA, on interview with FIDANS, the boy said, the father gave him that cut because he ate the soup in the house due to hunger and on examination of the wound, it had started decaying for lack of proper treatment.â
âImmediately the boy was taken to Tobis Clinic for treatment while the father was arrested at Akenfa Division of the Nigerian Police, thereafter, FIDA contacted the boyâs mother who was said to have been prevented by the flood in her community from coming immediately but she later struggled to come and FIDA Bayelsa handed the boy over to the mother with N10, 000 for drugs to treat the wound and some palliatives due to the flood. FIDA cares about the paramount interest of the childâ.
The spokesman of the Bayelsa Police Command, Asinim Butswat also confirmed the development,â Elekele Messiah,34 years, was arrested for inflicting grievous wound with razor blade on his Nine Years old son. Investigation is ongoing.â

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Ovie Omo-Agege, and other leaders of the party in the state were disappointed Wednesday after waiting all day at the Osubi airport, Warri for the arrival of the party's presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, who failed to show up.

But after waiting for several hours, Tinubu failed to show up.
Boom TV reliably gathered that party members were mobilised from the 25 local government councils.
Lamenting what she called "wasted time and energy," a member of the Omo-Agege governorship campaign council, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the experience as bitter.
She said they abandoned all other engagements to wait all day for the party's presidential candidate who failed to show up.
It was gathered that as a way of saving face, the state APC governorship candidate, Omo-Agege, hurriedly turned the occasion into a mini-rally and made a pronouncement of a joint donation of N200 million on behalf of Tinubu for the state flood victims.
