Susan Briante powerfully writes about this collection: "From this position both present to earthly concerns and in dialogue with the cosmic, Giarratano describes the broader challenges of
mothering through late capitalism, ecological crisis, and the racism of the twenty-first century. 'There is meaning in every minute/ of what is not wasted…' Giarratano writes. 'Obliterate the
names/ of saints with the true names of trees…' The result is required reading for all of us who might 'mother'—biologically, spiritually, or intellectually, across sexes, genders, and species.
Molecular Memory is document of crisis and a call for change.”
– Susan Briante, author of Defacing the Monument

Our Editors, Elizabyth Hiscox and Glenn Shaheen, have worked hard this spring, and we're so proud and excited to bring you Natalie Giarratano's MOLECULAR MEMORY!

“With stunning precision and lush surprise, Natalie Giarratano describes the harrowing experienceof birthing her child through an emergency C-section in the opening poems of MolecularMemory. …

Tom Snarsky writes, “Amorak Huey’s Extinction Level hums with poems that play with heat (of love, of climate change), with epistemology (of climate change, of love), and with the kind of extreme brevity that reminds us how poems don’t need much at all to cut us down…”

We wanted to share a virtual workshop our Tram Editions author Priscilla Wathington is teaching this January!

THE FRONT BURNER: A GENERATIVE POETRY SPACE FOR PARENTS & CAREGIVERS

What if 2025 was the year you decided to take your writing practice off of the back burner? As parents ourselves, your two facilitators, Priscilla and Adrie, know what it is like to scrap together a writing life at bus stops and white zones, from half-slept dreams and in the stumps of a day between meals and appointments. Our goal is to meet you just exactly where you are at, and to invite you into a nourishing space where you can prioritize your practice for a little portion of every day.

During this 4 week experience, you will have access to daily prompts (Mon-Fri) to help you generate new poems, and the option of engaging with fellow caregivers and parents and work-sharing/community building in our private discord server. We will also offer two casual “come-as-you-are” zoom sessions, where we will get to know each other, answer questions and write together.

This class is open to all whose identities or life experiences connect to/overlap with being a “parent” or “caregiver.” We hold these terms as broadly as possible, welcoming those who are parents of adult children, who have parented siblings, who are on reproductive journeys or have experienced losses, and who are or have been paid or unpaid caretakers, in any capacity.

When: January 6-31

Who is this space for? Parents & Caregivers who want to make time to write in community

How: We will email you prompts 5 days a week, host a Discord server where you can share & receive feedback, plus 2 live zoom calls with Adrie & Priscilla

How Much: sliding scale $90/120/150. We also offer 2 free BIPOC/LGBTQIA++ spots

Priscilla Wathington is a Palestinian American poet and editor. Her chapbook, Paper and Stick draws from her past human rights advocacy work. She sits on the board of the RAWI (Radius of Arab American Writers) and holds an MFA from Warren Wilson College.

Adrie Rose lives beside an orchard and is the editor of Nine Syllables Press. Her chapbooks Rupture & I Will Write a Love Poem were published in 2023. She is an MFA candidate at Warren Wilson College MFA.
