What an amazing weekend I have just had. It was truly a privilege to Direct the Abertillery Orpheus Male Choir at a concert in Weymouth in aid of the 200th Anniversary of RNLI. (Lifeboats).
We had with us the incredibly talent soloist Travis George and the whole concert was just so rewarding.
The choir and Travis came together to sing 2 numbers, Anthem from Chess and Bui Doi from Miss Saigon the latter receiving a spontaneous standing ovation from the audience.
I wish to thank the choir , our accompanist Penny Hughes , Travis George and the supporters who came with us making this weekend so memorable.

From one very proud and exceptionally privileged Musical Director!

Torfaen Male Choir would like to extend their thanks to the Panteg Ward of Pontypool Community Council, for organising such a tremendous commemoration, for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. The fishpond park was an ideal setting for the occasion, (despite the evening turning quite chilly). The local community groups, such as St John's Ambulance volunteers, Royal Naval Association, Scouts & Guides, to name but a few, attended along with a large crowd from the community. Several local Councillors were present, including Anthony Hunt, Leader of Torfaen Borough Council, who lit the lamp of peace, representative of the beacons being lit across the world. Mr Mal Davies, Chair of the Friends of Fishpond Park, read the official tribute. Photo courtesy of Alan Phillips.

Torfaen Male Choir would like to thank Iestyn's Fish Bar, https://iestynsfishbar.com/ For providing the food, for our annual community Fish & Chip supper. As always, the food was beautiful, delivered hot and on time. It rounded off a lovely evening at Panteg House, following a varied repertoire from the choir. The social interaction, with a beverage of your choice afterwards, is always an enjoyable experience.

Lestyn's Fish Bar, delicious freshly cooked fish and chips, burgers and pies for collection or delivery in Pontypool.

I have had many CPR classes over the last few years but was never told this…..
Have you ever thought about it ❤️
When you are alone and have a heart attack. What are you gonna do then ?
A rarely good post that can't be shared often enough:
1.
Take a 2 minute break and read this:
Let's say it's 5:25 pm and you're driving home after an unusually hard day's work.
2.
You are really tired and frustrated.
All of a sudden your chest pains. They are starting to radiate in the arm and jaw. It feels like being stabbed in the chest and heart. You're only a few miles away from the nearest hospital or home.
3.
Unfortunately you don't know if you can make it..
4.
Maybe you've taken CPR training, but the person running the course hasn't told you how to help yourself.
5.
How do you survive a heart attack when you're alone when it happens? A person who is feeling weak and whose heart is beating hard has only about 10 seconds before losing consciousness.
6.
But you can help yourself by coughing repeatedly and very strongly! Deep breaths before every cough. Coughing should be repeated every second until you arrive at the hospital or until your heart starts to beat normally.
7.
Deep breathing gives oxygen to your lungs and coughing movements boost the heart and blood circulation. Heart pressure also helps to restore a normal heartbeat. Here's how cardiac arrest victims can make it to the hospital for the right treatment
8.
Cardiologists say if someone gets this message and passes it on to 10 people, we can expect to save at least one life.
9. FOR WOMEN: You should know that women have additional and different symptoms. Rarely have crushing chest pain or pain in the arms. Often have indigestion and tightness across the back at the bra line plus sudden fatigue.
Instead of posting jokes, you're helping save lives by spreading this message.

A tremendous thank you to everyone who contributed to a great evening's entertainment at St Hilda's Church, Griffithstown, last night. The choir organised their annual concert in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and were joined by Griffithstown Junior School choir and baritone soloist, Travis George, performing to a very appreciative, full house. The choir would like to thank St Hilda's Church and specifically Father Phillip, who welcomed everyone to the church and conducted the Act of Remembrance towards the end of the concert. Church volunteers, Richard, Wendy and Ann, were always on hand to assist the choir's ladies committee, who provided the refreshments and ensured the smooth running of the evening. Steve Bard, (who along with Penny Hughes formed the choir's musical team), also played the bugle during a very moving Act of Remembrance, with standards from the Royal Naval Association and British Legion being represented. Torfaen Male Choir are conducting an open practice session on Thursday 16th November, at Panteg House Social Club from 7.30 pm and any men who are interested to see what happens at a choir rehearsal are invited to attend. Following the practice the opportunity to share in a buffet with the opportunity to join in a spot of socialising in the bar. See you Thursday.

Come and support this event in aid of the Royal British Legion.

A fabulous evening's entertainment at Panteg house tonight. Happy to be a part of a fundraiser for Tenovus Cancer Care.
Along with Travis George, (proud to call him one of our own), we performed with, Bois Y Bryn and the Tenovus mixed choir. A privilege to be able to support such a worthwhile cause.

WHAT A STAR. Travis George on Vitalize radio this evening was amazing. He was extremely kind about how our choir welcomed him and helped him develop as a singer and an individual. By the end of the show, I think he has pinched the presenter's slot on the station. Brilliant performance and such a natural presenter.
