Mid-Week Check-In
Happy Day, cousins! Join me for a quick temperature check for your week and some live Q&A!
Leave the advice to the professionals 😂 ABEG. Title 15 USC §1681(b) is the Law of Permissible Purpose aka, they need your authorization to get a copy of your consumer report. (It’s actually super useful to know this if you’re cleaning up the inquiries on your credit!)You know what it doesn’t talk about? The legal or lawful reporting of late payments. Late payments are NOT illegal unless they’re inaccurate.(If it’s a credit card reporting the late payment and they have not issued your monthly statement no less than 20 days before the payment due date, that late payment can not be reported as such. But you’ll need proof.)
Would you sign a prenup? 👀
DON’T BUY SH*T UNTIL YOU CLOSE! Any major fluctuations to your credit before closing on your home can put you at risk to lose it!
WON’T HE DO IT?!
Being a later in life in-person college student is HARD. Hell, I don’t know how y’all did this fresh out of high school! Once I add all of my other obligations (like the kids, my business, social media, etc.), I truly didn’t think I would be able to keep my head above water.
BUT CALL ME MIKE PHELPS CAUSE I’M SWIMMING THROUGH THIS SEMESTER WITH A 4.0! 🏊🏾♀️
To anybody considering going back to school, don’t let your fear of the unknown and the uncomfortable hold you back. The time is gonna pass no matter what you decide. With a solid plan and a dope support system (shoutout to the advising and veteran service staff at East LA Community College!), you’ll do great 🫶🏾
💚
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
Idk what it’s giving, but it doesn’t give I got 5 kids 🙌🏾😌

Y’all have been lowkey following along on my “Girl, Get Out The House” journeys, so here’s a recent fit check.
This weekend my homegirls and I took my Cali mama out to @ogcannabiscafe in West Hollywood 🍃
I went for the first time last month for my birthday and had so much fun! As soon as I told her about it, she told us we running it back 😂😂
We had such a good time! I can’t wait to go back on a warm day and sit outside, the outdoor area was cute but it was raining both times I went 😩
The food was good as hell. That FRESH skillet sugar cookie with the cookies and cream ice cream on top?! 🐐
It gets better.
This year marked 10 years since The Worst Year of My Life. I was bullied out of the Army, my marriage was dissolving, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, I had to move back home with my 2 kids, I received my first of what would be many mental health diagnoses, man the list goes on and on. Every day got harder and harder to get through.
But I got through them. And you will too.
Shoutout to my support system because WHEW!
I may look like a one-man band, but if it wasn’t for the people I have in my life, I wouldn’t be able to do half of the dope sh*t I show you guys.
It can be a little overwhelming at times being everything for everyone, and having a support system in place that I can complain with or cry to or lean on is what keeps my cup full enough to pour from 💚
Happy Financial Literacy Month 🥳
Y’all financial counselor’s favorite financial counselor is talking Gen-Z & debt on @scrippsnews today at 4:30 pm EST (1:30 PM PST) 🤩
Comment SCRIPPS to get the link to watch it live!
Day 2 ready 💚 @dreamvillefest
Anybody else here in Raleigh? 👀
What does financial freedom look like for you today?
Also, FEAR THE DEEP ⚓️ @seattlekraken 🏒
And no my kids not invited.
Sometimes it’s the peace before they get up for school. Sometimes it’s the hour past their bedtime I get to watch Netflix quietly.
…and sometimes it’s a beach in Mexico 😅
For the moms, do you feel like you “break” enough? If you do, how do you do that AND everything else? If not, what do you need to get a break?
@dreamvillefest played in our face 😩😩
As irritating as changing lineups are, it’s a part of festival season.
Y’all could have given us another R&B artist though 😩😩
SAVE THIS FOR LATER!
Buying tradelines is super convenient…and not entirely legal.
Sure, you can buy it all you want. That part isn’t illegal, but in the case of say credit card accounts, it does violate the agreement the owner of the account signed and could lead to the account being closed and/or a lawsuit.
Aaand if you use the tradeline to misrepresent your credit worthiness to lenders, you could be in danger of committing fraud 😬
☕️ And I’m not minding y’all business, but selling them is an act that can be used against you in a RICO case. 🤐
Rebuilding your credit THE RIGHT WAY isn’t the quickest process in the world, but it’s a lot better than looking over your shoulder every 2 seconds.
Just saying.
RIP @macmiller 🕊️
For 2024, my word of the year is intentional. I’m intentionally spending my money in ways that fill my cup. For me, this means concert tickets for my favorite artists, trips to see my favorite sports teams play at home, taking the kids to experience new things, spending time with my friends, and spending time with myself in dope places.
How are you spending your money this year?
Comment LETTER and I’ll DM you the template for you to use! And remember: we get it in writing because…it makes it a legally binding contract, right.
You don’t always have to open a new credit card to get access to more money. If your credit history meets their requirements for a higher credit limit, asking could be the only thing keeping you from it.
This is why credit monitoring is such a useful tool. If I know where my score stands, with a little Google search I can find out the range my score needs to be in to qualify for my increase instead of wasting an inquiry if my score is too low.
