To achieve personal growth and change, one must expand their experiences beyond their “normal”, exposing themselves to new cultures, and lifestyles. In doing so one broadens their mind, combining that which was unfamiliar with the familiar to produce new ways of looking at the world.
Many of us operate under the preconceived notion that criminality is determined based on appearance or demeanor. However, the cause of crime is much more complex than looks, it must be put into the context of one’s experiences and exposure.
“I’ve been in the system since I was about eight, incarcerated for murder since the age of fifteen. I’ve had to learn how to be resourceful in discovering who I am, and maturing and keeping connection with society and not just strictly becoming a product of my environment.”

Theron Hall, one of the men featured on the podcast, is currently serving life without the possibility of parole for a crime he committed as a teenager. Despite this, Theron continues to be a mentor and leader within the community, fighting for sentencing reforms and advocating for human rights.
