A great opportunity to get involved in helping to fund a trailer for a documentary called 'Veins of the Earth' looking at river conservation and the risks river ecosystems face.

"Veins of the Earth will be a feature length documentary, combining science and conservation, with history, folklore and mythology to address critical issues with river systems in the south-west of England."

Forget those nasty rolls of expensive wrapping paper that you can't recycle - this year it's time to come up with some creative and greener alternatives! Here's a few to get you started - I'd love to hear what other 'green' wrapping ideas you have.

I must admit that I'm not the most attentive or clever at coming up with stunning Christmas wrapping ideas. Like a few of my friends, I usually get pretty close to the time we should be putting out the sherry and carrots for Santa and his reindeers before I think - ah, I suppose I ought to wrap thos...

Hi Everyone.....hope you're all having a good, green week! So for my 'Green Habit number 4' I've decided to take little look at what I eat. I know I eat way too much beef, lamb and chicken so from this point forward I'm going to start off with one day a week completely free of meat dishes.

I've managed to rope in a really good friend of mine - Chef 'M' and he's going to knock up a few veggie recipes for me which I'll publish on the Sixty-Six Shades of Green website.

The only criteria I have given to Chef 'M' is 'easy to cook, no meat and wherever possible taking the chance to use up any leftovers in the fridge'.

Here's the first one - a really easy to follow but delicious 'Leftovers Veggie Chilli'.

I'm really pleased that a good friend of mine has agreed to help me out with some simple veggie recipes over the coming weeks. The brief was 'easy to cook, no meat and wherever possible taking the chance to use up any leftovers in the fridge'. True to his word - Chef 'M' has cooked up the first litt...

Interesting article and clearly seems to be a step in the right direction but on the face of it, with petrol and diesel cars banned from 2030 will this be enough?

If you've been to London recently you may well have seen some of the lamp posts that have been converted to EV charging points - I would have thought there would be some companies desperate to win Local Authority contracts for installing these across the country? Maybe I missed the point on this?

Do you have any views on Electric Vehicle charging or do you think the prices and technology have a long way to go before we fully embrace electric vehicles?

Charging points will also be required in new supermarkets and workplaces in England under government plans.

So we were up earlier than usual ready for our walk to the gym (Habit No. 3) but it was just such a beautiful morning we decided just to do a long walk and watch the sun come up instead. How fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful and safe part of the world.

An interesting by-product of trying to create green habits and 'do the right thing' for the planet is that I'm finding it does create a little bit of a feel-good factor. I'm hoping it continues. 😊

Habit No. 3 coming in - 'Following the 30 minute rule', somehow I think this one is going to be more challenging than it sounds.....

There are so many different things that I want to change to become a bit greener. Whilst doing a little bit of research it's easy to find lots of simple ways that we can make a difference but my challenge is to create habit-forming changes. I'm really keen to write a blog on Christmas wrapping, etc....

An interesting article from the BBC that I read this morning and one of the areas that I'm really struggling to get my head around - that of what we eat, how it's produced, delivery miles, production processes - it's all very confusing when making choices about what we can do to eat in a sustainable way.

Having said that, quite clearly I know that I should be eating less meat from both an environmental and health perspective and there are a number of 'Habits' that I need to 'green up' a bit.

Fortunately, I have cajoled a very good friend of mine - let's just call him Chef 'M', to help out.

Chef 'M' will be coming up with some great meat-free recipes over the coming weeks that we'll add to the website and he'll also be taking a look with me at food production, food miles, sustainable products and 'buying local', etc. - so do keep an eye on the website.

Some people are switching to plant-based diets to reduce their carbon footprint.

My initial excitement of having saved tens of thousands of litres of water through habit change No.1 has started to wane from a little bit more research into the damage we're causing the planet - but there's no way I'm giving up yet!!!!

Habit change Number 2 - ridding myself of the evil plastic toothbrush!

So my initial smugness from starting habit number 1 and the thought that I'll be saving tens of thousands of liters of water over the coming years has already waned a little bit. I guess this is what happens - you change something for the better then the global enormity of the waste problem hits hom...

And so it begins - my first confession is a shocker but we all have to start somewhere.

Green Habit number one started. ✅

'Going Green One Habit at a Time.' Right then, I guess it's time to start 'walking the walk' as it were and create the foundations for my green habits. I'm thinking I'll be able to cope with a couple of changes a week which will then add up to some significant impacts once my 'green habits' are esta...

Feeling a little bit powerless in the great climate change crisis?

Surely there are a few simple things that we can all do to help us live a greener life while contributing to the health of the planet.

Sixty-Six Shades of Green is the start of my journey.......fancy joining me?

So where do I start? The TV channels and my social media feeds have been totally swamped in recent weeks with news about COP26, the terrible things that we're doing to our planet and the impending doom if we don't immediately start to change the way we live. The facts speak for themselves and it's c...
