Pahayag ni President Bongbong Marcos kaugnay ng magnitude 6.9 quake sa Cebu:

Mga kababayan, kagabi ay niyanig ng magnitude 6.9 na lindol ang Cebu, na may epicenter sa karagatan, humigit-kumulang 19 kilometro hilaga-silangan ng Bogo City.

Buong puso akong nakikiramay sa mga pamilyang nawalan ng mahal sa buhay, at kasama sa aking mga dasal ang kaligtasan ng mga nasugatan at lahat ng naapektuhan ng lindol.

Nasa mga apektadong lugar na po ang ating mga Kalihim upang magbigay ng tulong at suriin ang pinsala mula sa lindol at mga aftershock. Tinitiyak ng DPWH ang kaligtasan ng mga kalsada at tulay, ang DOE ay kumikilos upang maibalik ang suplay ng kuryente, ang DOH ay nagpadala ng karagdagang tauhan sa mga ospital, at ang DSWD ay naghahatid ng pagkain at iba pang tulong.

Katuwang ang BFP sa search and rescue, habang ang PNP ay nakatutok sa pagpapanatili ng kaayusan at pagtulong sa mga operasyon ng pagliligtas. Pinamumunuan ng OCD at NDRRMC ang koordinasyon ng lahat ng ahensya upang matiyak ang mabilis at maayos na pagtugon.

Hinihikayat ko ang lahat na manatiling alerto at makinig sa abiso ng inyong lokal na pamahalaan. Sama-sama nating itatawid ang ating mga kababayan at muling itatayo ang mga komunidad na naapektuhan.

Pahayag ng DILG para sa mga Pamilyang Nawalan ng Mahal sa Buhay sa Lindol sa Cebu

Ipinapaabot ng DILG Philippines ang aming pakikidalamhati sa mga pamilya ng mga nasawi sa naganap na lindol sa Cebu kagabi. Panalangin rin namin ang mabilis na panunumbalik ng lakas at kalusugan ng mga sugatan.

Kasunod ng direktiba ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos, inatasan na namin ang Bureau of Fire Protection na tumulong sa mga isinasagawang search and rescue operations. Ang Philippine National Police naman ay tumutulong din sa rescue efforts at sinisiguro ang kaayuusan at kapayapaan sa mga komunidad.

Nananawagan kami sa lahat ng mga lokal na pamahalaan at iba't ibang sektor ng lipunan na magkaisa para alalayan at suportahan ang mga apektadong pamilya. Sa gitna ng trahedyang ito, magbayanihan tayo upang tulungan sa pagbangon ang Cebu at iba pang karatig na lugar.

Muli, taos-puso ang aming pakikiramay at panalangin para sa kaligtasan at kagalingan ng lahat. Kasama ninyo ang DILG at ang buong pamahalaan sa panahon ng matinding pagsubok na ito.

Department of Social Welfare and Development - DSWD Secretary REX Gatchalian said on September 24, 2025 (Wednesday) the agency is not seeking to expand its workforce in terms of number of employees, but is pushing for more plantilla positions to ensure continuity in implementing its programs and services.

“I think if we were to plead the committee, it is not the number of employees that we are going to ask for but it is the type of employees we are going to ask for. This runs across the different programs,” Secretary Gatchalian told the Senate Finance Sub-committee chaired by Senator Pia Cayetano during the budget hearing on the proposed 2026 DSWD budget on Wednesday.

The DSWD chief’s statement was in response to the inquiry of Senator Loren Legarda on the lack of DSWD implementers in programs such as the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), which often involved contract of service (COS) personnel.

Secretary Gatchalian said the challenge was not simply the absence of workers but the type of personnel available.

“There’s always this misunderstanding of employees. Marami po kami. We have 39,000 employees out of 43,000, but it’s the type of employees that we need,” the Secretary Gatchalian said.

The DSWD chief explained that while the programs of the DSWD come with administrative costs, these often only allow the hiring of contractual workers.

“But the admin cost is only good for contract of service. It’s not the type of employee that we need. We need regular, warm body employees — plantilla positions — so that can ensure continuity, especially for SLP that is heavy in social preparation and monitoring,” Secretary Gatchalian explained.

The DSWD chief pointed out that COS personnel, despite being competent, tend to leave when better opportunities arise, resulting in loss of institutional knowledge.

“So, kung ako ay hihiling ng isang bagay tungkol sa SLP, tama ho kayo, kulang ng tao, pero sana regular or plantilla positions, not contract of service, kasi they can just go anytime when a better opportunity comes up,” Secretary Gatchalian pointed out.

Under the 2026 National Expenditure Program (NEP), the budget of the DSWD and its attached and supervised agencies is over Php223.2 billion.

The Office of the President announces the appointment of former Philippine National Police Chief, General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. (Ret.), as Special Adviser and Investigator of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI). He will assume his duties after concluding his personal and administrative arrangements.

The President thanks Mayor Benjamin Magalong for his service and contributions during his tenure. His efforts in safeguarding the integrity and credibility of the Commission have been vital to the government's campaign against corruption in infrastructure projects.
