🎥 Soon to be released documentary, Devils On Horses 🐴

Erewhon Productions are in the final leg of post production and editing. This documentary is an ode to the young soldiers from the Canterbury Mounted Rifles Regiment who fought in WWI and the thousands of faithful horses that never made it home.

Terry King has interviewed over 15 historians from Turkey, Australia, and New Zealand, collating personal stories to create a thought provoking and emotional story between the soldier and his horse.

Devils on Horses is planning the premiere in Australia and Palmerston North at the end of the year.

Well done Terry! 🙌 We can't wait to see it.

Ngā mihi nui to Annie Collins for facilitating an informative and inspiring editing workshop! Also to Chris Sinclair who shared his knowledge on Day two 💡

The workshop focused on how relationships between editors, directors and producers shift and change during the entire film process. Annie gave practical tools relevant to each stage of the workflow to navigate the creative energy and the stresses that can occur.

👇Here’s what some participants had to say 🗣

“It was wonderful to have Annie come to Christchurch. I've had to spend alot more to travel and attend similar workshops. It goes without saying I've appreciated being able to access quality intel from Annie and the rest of those attending here in Christchurch“
Richard Lord – Film Editor

"This was one of the best. Annie taught us the importance of establishing relationships with your editor at the earliest point and demystified the post pipeline process with brilliant anecdotes, often of what NOT to do. She reminded us to dig deep and let our kaupapa guide the creative process. Annie - it was so much fun swimming around in your head for two days!
Emma Schranz - Writer/Director

🙏 Big thanks to Marilyn Hudson from Southern Screen Pictures for hosting and 🎥Queenstown Camera Company who supported this event.

📢 Shout out to Film Otago Southland for providing travel grants for two participants – it’s been great to collaborate! 🚗

THE MAN OUTSIDE- is a documentary film being made in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckand

💨Here's what you'd be boosting THE MAN OUTSIDE:
After a number of disturbing incidents, a young woman realises that her ex-boyfriend is stalking her. As the encounters escalate, she asks the police for help. But when they are unable to, due to the lack of stalking laws in New Zealand, she and her flatmates become the protagonists of a rea-life thriller. The Film exposes the dangerous gaps in New Zealand’s justice system, asking: Will women ever truly be safe in Aotearoa?

Supporting this project is believing in the transformative power of film to drive positive societal change.

HOMECOMING is a short film being made right here in Ōtautahi Christchurch 🎥

Emerging transgender Writer/Director Grae Meek and Anna Canton for Annakey Productions are seeking support for their Boosted Campaign to get the last bit of funding over the line.

Here's what you'd be boosting 👉 This groundbreaking new psychological thriller about the anxieties of coming out to those you love - and perhaps, fear - the most, is currently in pre-production and will film in Christchurch next month.

“This film is an authentic transgender experience, and is the kind of story I’ve always felt so strongly about telling. This is a very personal film for me. I've been in this kind of situation, felt these intense feelings, walked that mile, so to tell this kind of heartfelt and emotive story from a transgender perspective with a cutting, visceral edge to it is, I think, really powerful and unique.” - Grae Meek, Writer/Director

This is an opportunity to support a local film project from a community whose voice is so often marginalised on the big screen. Every little bit counts! Any donations large or small will help tell this thrilling, cinematic transgender story.

Still reeling from the connections and insights we gained in Auckland for the annual Big Screen Symposium! HUGE thanks to Script to Screen for making it happen! ✍ 📺

🗣 It was an inspiring couple of days with incredible speakers such as Lulu Wang, Cliff Curtis, Robyn Malcolm, James Napier Robertson, and Pax Assadi to name just a few!

🎤On Day two, a panel spoke about ‘coopetition’ - the ways we work together for the benefit of our own regions as well as ‘NZ Inc.’ Facilitated by Jaclyn Philpott (AFCI), the panel included some of the Regional Film Office New Zealand including Petrina D’Rozario (Screen CanterburyNZ), Mark Westerby (Screen Wellington), Kahli Scott (Film Queenstown Lakes) and Jade Kent (Film Bay of Plenty).

And the key takeaway? COLLBORATION 🤝 Aotearoa makes world-class screen content and we consistently punch above our weight in innovation, technical ability, and stunning locations. Sharing knowledge and resources works to make New Zealand more attractive as a film destination, which ultimately benefits us all.
