After Sri Lanka's devastating crisis, thousands of protesters took to the streets in several cities in Bangladesh after the Sheikh Hasina government hiked fuel prices by nearly 52%, the highest since the neighbouring country gained independence.
The government increased the price hike on Friday, August 5, after which the diesel rate went up by 34 Taka per litre, octane by 46 Taka per litre and petrol by 44 Taka per litre. Several Bangladeshi media outlets said that this 51.7% increase in fuel price.
The Bangladesh government has blamed the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war for the hike in fuel prices. Russia's invasion of Ukraine has seen global energy prices soar, even as oil has fallen back in recent weeks as recession fears mount.
The South Asian country's $416 billion economy has been one of the fastest-growing in the world for years. However, soaring energy and food prices have inflated its import bill, prompting the government to seek loans from global lending agencies, including the International Monetary Fund.

On receipt of an information of "manufacturing fake marksheets" of HSLC/HS examination, a team of Barpeta Police Station conducted search in several locations on 31/07/2022 and apprehended 07 persons and during search of their houses 09 nos. of HSLC/HS fake marksheets and pass certificates, 1 computer with monitor and 02 nos of printers were seized from their possessions.The fake certificates were used by students to get admission in Janapriya College, Goroimari under Barpeta PS.
This refers to Barpeta PS Case No. 772/22 U/S 468/471/417/419/384/120(b).

Cyber criminals created a fake app resembling official app of State Bank of India and duped a Lecturer of BB Kishan College, Jalah by sending him a fake SMS.
As he clicked the link, an amount of ₹22,500/- was debited from his account.
He decided to lodge an FIR and Officer-In-Charge, Simla Police Station swung into action.
The culprits were tracked in Jamtara District of Jharkhand. Our team immediately tied up with Jharkhand Police and three culprits were caught along with mobile phones and incriminating documents by Jamtara Police.
Our team led by OC, Simla PS with three SI(Proby) and Constables brought the criminals, who are suspected to be involved in many Cyber Crimes in Assam.
Our drive against Cyber Crime shall continue :: Assam Police.

Unearthed the ancient tomb full of gold of the mysterious princess: The golden lion weighs 1 ton
The excavation of a 1-ton golden lion in an ancient mausoleum in Xinjiang, China made archaeologists present at the scene marvel and stunned, according to Sohu.

A total of 8 gold talismans engraved with tigers, 4 golden tiger-shaped belts, a lion-shaped talisman and more than 200 other gold ornaments such as gold beads and golden flowers were discovered in the mausoleum tomb.
In particular, the golden lion card weighs more than 1 ton, the golden lion is carved so lifelike that everyone is shocked.
According to the scant information from the research results of archaeologists, the owner of this tomb turned out to be a beautiful woman about 30.
Archaeologists have found a hole drilled in the skull of the owner of the tomb. This may have been the cause of her death.

A total of 18 Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers presently serving in the Government of Assam were promoted to IAS on Monday, August 1.
The President of India, Droupadi Murmu approved the promotion of the members of the state civil service of Assam.
An order from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Assam dated August 1 read, “In exercise of the powers conferred by Rule 8(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954 read with Regulation 9(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955 and Rule 3 of the Indian Administrative Service (Probation) Rules, 1954, the President is pleased to appoint the following members of the State Civil Service of Assam to the Indian Administrative Service against the vacancies determined by Government of India under Regulation 5(1) of the said Regulations in consultation with the State Government for the Select List of 2020, on probation until further orders and to allocate them to the Assam-Meghalaya Cadre, under Rule 5(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954.”
