❗️❗️In the last week we have taken in 80 new dogs and our in-shelter population continues to rise. We are once again asking for the help of our animal loving community. This time in a BIG way – big help is need with big (and medium) dogs❗️❗️
🚨We are currently caring for 344 dogs in the shelter and are exceeding our maximum capacity for care with 55 dogs living in overflow housing. This is not sustainable so we desperately need your help to place at least 55 medium and large dogs into adoptive or foster homes ASAP.
If you are able to foster or adopt, please stop by 2020 Forest Street. We have over 200 dogs ready to leave with you today. If you have other dogs at home, no problem! Many of our dogs have experience in doggie playgroups and would love a playmate. View all of the dogs available for adoption or foster care online at coj.net/adopt.
Here are all the ways you can help:
🐾ADOPT – We have 200 dogs available for adoption and ready to go home with you today. Adoptions are free for medium and large dogs.
🐾FOSTER – If you are able to take a medium or large dog into your home, please come to ACPS. Even if you can only foster for a few days, it helps!
🐾RECLAIM – If you have lost your pet or it you have surrendered your pet to ACPS in the last 90 days and they are still here, please come to the shelter to reclaim if you are now in a position to take them back. Sterilized reclaim fees are waived.
🐾REUNITE – If you have found a lost pet, please look for its home. More than 65% of dogs entering our shelter are lost pets. Dogs found and kept in their neighborhood are 85% more likely to get home and most are reunited within 24 hours of being found. After entering the shelter only about 20% are reunited with their owners. Please utilize the shelter only as a last option.
