Orphan of the American Dream We're a couple that realized young that the American dream wasn't for us. We are the orphans of the American dream.

after years of living to work and enjoying the occasional trip or weekend away from work and trying to pinch penny's to make house payments we realized this is not what we wanted our like to look like. We made a plan, to travel to US in a van, a dream that we've both had since we where kids. After a lot of struggling and grinding we made it happen got our van built it out and hit the road! a year

in and its still a love affair, we built a life and house for ourselves, it still has ups and downs but this is the life we chose not one thrust upon us.

I got so lucky with this shot!
We went right at sunset but the clouds were thick and it didn’t look like it would clear so after spending a half hr checking it out we headed back and just as we 15 minute in to the 30 minute walk to the van the sun peaked out!
I literally ran as fast as I could and had to leap over multiple foreign tourists with they’re selfie stick to grab the shot, totally worth it😄

Even though this was probably the most touristy place we stopped on our trip we really enjoyed it!

We had a super disappointing visit to the Grand Canyon
First of all it’s way to deep and the views are hard to even comprehend I mean who has 10 hrs to sit on a bench and just look at single spectator view?
And to top it off there was barely anyone there so we had to endure the sounds of nature basically the whole time

In all honesty this was so beautiful photos can’t even come close to showing how amazing this place was it really makes to feel small

My only complaint is I couldn’t fly the drone😫

We made a trip out to Death Valley early this week while it’s winter and a beautiful 80 out
It did not disappoint, we could have easily spent a week exploring this massive park

If you didn’t know Death Valley is almost 300ft below sea level and I don’t know if it’s that or the incredible scale of this place (photos don’t do it justice) but it’s an unsettling place to say the least

The Lambingtons don’t mind the cold or snow whatsoever but the chickens are content to look at it from the coop door and stay inside

1 We can feed them every scrap from the kitchen and they in turn give us all the eggs we can eat
2 They do a great job of eating all the pest bugs and especially the slugs that like to eat the garden
3 they’re just cool! I mean they’re definitely like the raptors from Jurassic park but a little nicer.
They just follow you around doing chicken stuff

Now that we’ve had our first snow its 100% fire season and gotta be honest I kinda love it!
The glass front projects a ton of light into the yurt and makes everything feel warm and inviting when it’s cold out
We are so much more prepared than last winter but with the first snow fall I’m definitely feeling the pressure of a few projects that I wanted to have done before winter, hopefully November won’t be to brutal and I can get everything wrapped up before the real cold gets here!

It’s starting to feel like fall 🍂

We’ve done so much work here this summer and I’m really proud of how far our homestead has come since getting the yurt up last December!
Lots of long weekend days and evenings but it’ll pay off this winter when we’re nice and snug enjoying a hot fire and everything we where able to grow!

My two favorite people… We were both unsure how we would all do in the van on this trip. 3 weeks is a lot of time to spend together in 80 square feet! But it turned out to be a high water mark for our little family. Fae and I both agreed, although our traveling style has changed somewhat with Ronin, it’s 100 times better to to have him along. We both want to do more traveling this year 😎
