Normal service resumes tomorrow and I can’t wait to get back to it. 👊🏻

I am kickstarting my year with an exciting meeting with Phil from Sales Geek and Clare from Connected CX tomorrow and then I am with the Elite in a Week team on Tuesday. 3 Power Owls, Busy Women Networking meeting and putting together some exciting content for IDTA International Dance Teachers Association is going to make for a busy week plus some changes in my marketing strategy.

So whose lovely face is this on my feed? 🤔

Let me introduce word extraordinaire Rebecca from RLC Words

My fabulous partner in crime for 'The Power of 3 workshop: Using Blogs, Socials and Email to attract, engage and convert' in January.

So what can I tell you about Rebecca other than I have seen first hand the magic she creates with words. She shows business owners how to use the power of words to connect with potential and existing clients reinforcing that know, like and trust factor.

She has been writing for over 20 years and her expertise shows in her work. She started on a newspaper writing features, and the text to go alongside advertising businesses – then she moved to North Yorkshire Police in the middle of multi-million pound technology upgrades, and wrote training documents, internal communications and corporate reports and funding requests.

Rebecca has been running her own copywriting business since 2018 in Milton Keynes, and supports business owners with writing the words that make them different: web copy, blog posts and case studies in their own voice, from their own unique perspectives, that reach more of their favourite type of customer.

I can't wait for this collaboration.

Well this month has certainly been a whirlwind of fabulous events and fabulous people.

I have attended The Business Show with Michelle from Ooh baby baby, had my spotlight at TFI Networking and talked about how marketing is necessary but doesn’t have to be evil, and attended Tinderbox Autumn Drinks hosted by Ian Taylor where The Business Growth Forum for Northamptonshire was launched.

I worked with the Elite in a Week team to help rebrand our client Mark Hook in ONE week! He now has a dynamic new brand, new website and copy along with a foundation social media strategy and a library of brand photography that he can utilise.

And to top it off there was co-working sessions with fabulous friends, mapping out the products and services for Virtual Owl Marketing for 2025, Busy Women Networking meetings and I finally got to try Aldi’s dupe of Whispering Angel.

I am off for a lie down 😅😂 Only joking…bring on December and let’s finish the year with a bang 💥

Keep it simple!

Do you feel like your organic marketing strategy is spiralling out of control?

Are you trying to be everything to everyone and everywhere?

Stop 🖐️

You don’t need to be everywhere, just in the right places. Focus on showing up where your ideal client is already engaged.

This is how to keep it simple👇

⚡Define your customer avatar – give them a name, think about their values, interests, lifestyle and habits.
⚡Find out where they hang out and be there. You will always have a primary platform. Focus on that! Don’t feel the need to be on Facebook if your customer avatar is not there. Extend this to your wider marketing strategy.
⚡Be consistent
⚡Start small. If 3 posts a week is all you can manage at the moment it is better than
none. Building up your social media is like building blocks. You need to start with the foundations and the house will follow when you are ready and you have implemented a posting strategy that works for you.

Hello! It's been a while, and I'm just back from a lovely Autumn break - so let's have an intro post...

However it is we know each other, you probably associate words and writing with me - because that's what I've been doing at work for several decades now.

I've had my own copywriting business in Milton Keynes since 2017. It's come a long way and evolved since I started out - and I've now got three main strands to it:

🖋 Copywriting: I mainly write web content and blogs for small and medium businesses, but I also write grant applications for schools and charities - and take a few special commissions for larger organisations too

🤓 Teaching: sharing tips and insights with members of my Writing Club for doing their own business writing

🌟 Collaborating: working in a team with four other brilliant marketing experts in their own fields (The Edge Brands, Small Business Web Support, Virtual Owl Marketing, and BRAND Photography by Suzanne Kentish) to transform business brands, and make them Elite in a Week

Yes, this is something that has been said to me.

It was back in my corporate days and I was a Sales and Marketing Executive for an IT company. I was trying to get some information from one of the software developers so that I could market the product. It was proving difficult as the developer believed the product was so good it would sell itself. He had a negative perception of what sales and marketing was and believed I was about to make false promises to get the sales. This was before he got to know me and realise that I only market authentically using honest, proven methods to connect with potential clients.

I have never been one for hacks or half truths. Good honest marketing will always win. It will grow you an engaged and authentic audience, a good reputation and retained client base.

Social media marketing is one of your most powerful tools. You can have the best product or service in the world but if you are not shouting about it no one will know it exists.

So yes marketing is necessary but it doesn't have to be evil. 😈
