After 9 years the “Love and Trust” era has come to an end. Wow, what a ride! Marcus Smart was selected with the 6th overall pick in the 2014 draft and began the Celtics' rebuild. Since Smart has been in Boston, the Celtics have made the playoffs. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. Smart has been through it all with the Celtics. The wild roller coaster ride in the 2018 playoffs, the disappointment in 2019, the bubble in 2020, and coming two games away from delivering Banner 18 in 2022.

Without a doubt, Smart was the heart and soul of the team and took pride in being a Celtic. He truly bled green. You can go on for days about his on-the-court moments and intangibles but what truly made Smart special was his love for the city of Boston and the work he did through his foundation. The impact he made will not be forgotten.

I never imagined a Celtic team without Marcus Smart. A guy who truly had Celtic pride and embraced the culture of the organization and the passion of the fans. Saying thank you just doesn’t seem like enough.

Best of luck to Marcus in Memphis. Thank you for the unforgettable moments and great memories you brought both on and off the floor.
