They had a bunch of these ossuaries at the Vatican. And a ton of other really cool stuff too.
Not every campaign needs world ending consequences. But I sure feel awesome when I get to save the world!
OGL got you thinking about supporting 3rd party creators? We are excited to announce that YourRoll is now selling maps and homebrew from indie creators!
YourRoll is the best VTT on mobile! Keep your campaign rolling even when you can't get together. Link in bio.
Would you drink from the viper's pitcher? It could kill you. Is the poison immunity worth it?
What secrets and treasures will you uncover on this black sand beach?
Would you go?
Another fantastic idea from .storey
What do you think would happen if you didn't offer him a sacrifice?
Another great story by .storey
This story by .storey is so wholesome. I think it would make a good founding myth for a costal city.
Festivals are a great way to make a world feel more real. What festivals do your fantasy cities have?
I'm tempted to kiss the hand's ring. But I'm afraid I might get cursed.
Why would a dog want to burn down buildings? Pure chaos? Or a bigger plot by some master?
What do you think is in the fog? An arcane force of nature or just someone casting spells?
Why do you think it's called the siren thief inn? Did they steal a siren or is the siren the thief?
Would you take the deal?
What do you think they are keeping locked in?
And then the party decided they would just chop it down for "firewood"
Is 18 gold pieces a fair price?
This Kiln was built by early settlers in Southern Utah. They would burn limestone to extract the lime which has all sorts of uses. It made me imagine a different kind of resource extraction.
D&D Inspo 13: The Sunken Witch.
I was listening to "Lore" on my way up and I was on the witch episode so that together with the lake inspired this idea
When I saw this I knew she had to be a character in my homebrew campaign. In fact this is the first picture I took for my collection of D&D inspiration from my travels. Thanks for reminding me about this.
This art was so haunting to me. These characters would make such a unique group of NPCs. I imagine a run in with one of these would be a challenging combat or an equally challenging role play encounter. They are confused by their state of being but perhaps could be a potent ally if the players goals align with theirs.
We are rolling out an update to YourRoll! In this update we improve accessibility with support for larger text sizes and added support to build your character while offline. What features would you like to see?

So you got carried away. Now you know the succession of kings, the beliefs of several competing religions, and the major imports and exports of various towns and cities for your world.
Now What? How do you weave all your hard work into your campaign. Here are a few tips.
D&D Inspo 10: Tooth Fairy. Have you ever stopped to think of how terrifying the tooth fairy really is? Never give the fey your bones, especially not for money.
Do you have a "go to" character? For me, it's Jasper. I love playing him, and his ambition to build a time machine always gives him a good reason to join any adventure.
Steampunk Sorcerer. I just got access to Dall-E 2, the best new AI artist! I've been asking it to make character concept art. Comment below characters I should I ask it to do next!
D&D Inspo 9: Salt Gorgon
The storm outside is getting worse. You make your way down the stairs etched from solid salt. Lifelike Statues of folks begging for their life? Not likely. And what makes things worse: water is flowing down the stairs, and the stairs begin to dissolve!
D&D Inspo 8: Slingshot Steed
I took one look at this and thought I need to make a Halfling Artificer that rides one of these and launches vials of alchemical death at their enemies.
Naming cities and towns can be hard. Here are a few tips to get the creative juices flowing.
D&D Inspo 7: Vampire Plant
Perhaps a tome stolen from a hag’s hut is not the best place to look for apothecary advice. The scrawling script claims drinking the liquid in this plant will cure all disease, remove all exhaustion, and can even revive the dead. A DC 17 arcana check reveals that all that is true. But when you drink the liquid you must also make a DC 14 Constitution save. If you fail you slowly transition into a vampire over 1d4 days.
D&D Inspo 6: Skeleton Moose
The giant creature towers over the players, it's bony hooves striking the rocky soil. It's terrifying, but what they should really be afraid of is it's shadow.
D&D Inspo 5: Ghost Prison
What happens when a ghost breaks ethereal laws? With the naked eye this prison is abandoned. But parting the vail into the ethereal plane reveals that hundreds of ghostly prisoners are held in these walls. This prison is guarded by other phantoms hired by some lawful deity in exchange for releasing their soul from an awful purgatory. The prisoner's crimes range from possession of children, to violating an exorcism. What ghostly figures do you think you would meet here?
D&D Inspo 4: Pixie Gate
When I looked at this tiny arch on a river bed it made me think of a gateway for some tiny creature. Maybe a pixie commutes to the material plane to gather ingredients for a medicine to cure a loved one. What do you think would happen if you smashed the arch?
D&D Inspo 3: Near the edge of town there is a fairly large thatched roof building. It appears to be abandoned. However, the party hears a rumour (perhaps from a passerby on the street) that on the night of the summer solstice this abandoned tavern houses a magificant feast. A previous resident of the town once got lost and found himself in the fae wild. There he fell in love with a fae enchantress. He spends most of his time with the fae but returns for one night when the planes are near to celebrate and reminisce with old friends.
D&D Inspo 2: The Death March
The rhythmic sound of your feet crunching in the rocky soil makes you feel like you are in some sort of trance. Your feet ache, your pack is heavy, but you know you must keep up your fast pace. The sound of bone striking against stone rings through the air like wind chimes. You must reach the capital to warn the king that the skeleton army is coming.
D&D Inspo 1: The Blue Phoenix
While traveling through an enchanted wood, the party begins to smell smoke. Scanning the horizon they can see that there is a fire near the top of a small hill. They can see a stream babbling out of the heart of the flame.
If they follow the stream up into the flame they will see a large phoenix. It's wings are burning a deep red, it's feathers tattered. It appears to be very old. It is perched at the edge of a pond dipping its head to drink. Then in a burst of flame it collapses and it's ashes sink into the pond.
There is a moment of stillness and then the pond begins to boil. A new phoenix bursts out of the water, its wings ablaze with blue flame. It is soon lost into the pillar of smoke.
The pond continues to bubble and has become a natural hot spring. Spending an hour here to rest restores a level of exhaustion and grants 5 temporary HP points.
