DO NOT DESPISE WHERE YOU ARE NOW & YOUR CURRENT SKILL SET👇🏻

Exactly a week ago, 9th June I got a reminder from Google photos, about a picture I took of an order I got for an event in 2019, back when I was actively running my Food business Treys Kitchen.

That particular order was so stressful, I didn’t sleep through out the night because I didn’t want to disappoint. Food vendors, you people have special strength o😭

Before that Food business, I had tried my hands on Fashion wears, Jewelleries, Wigs & Wighats, Shoes, Perfumes, Bags. At a point, I was even doing Market errands.

Trust me, I have tried lots of businesses, and I didn’t even know what online marketing was. All I knew was the traditional marketing and all I was learning as Marketing Executive for various companies.

Yes, I was running these business, with a job, and with school at the same time. Only God knows how I did it😂, those that know me from way back can attest to this, Treasure was chief of doingsss😂

My favorite, best and most profitable businesses were the Perfume & Food business. And when I saw that I had cracked the code, I doubled my effort and made good money from them without social media.

Thank God for google photos to help me with proof😂

Now, I am running a Knowledge based business . Infact when I was doing all those businesses, I had no idea I would one day be a Consultant/Coach.

All I know is that I fell in love with Marketing from my very first job as a marketing executive, and even though I was studying law in school, my eyes & heart were really open towards business. My mother was tired of advising me😂

🎯I can say for a fact, that every skill I had to learn to sell my products, all the experiences (both bad and good) I had as a business owner, has put me in a better position to help business owners.

Because now, when I talk about the struggles of business owners, or recommend strategies & solutions, I know exactly what I’m saying. It’s not guess work.

When I sit with a business owner through a strategy session, by asking the right questions and properly observing, I can pick what the root causes are, and Know how to help.

YOU ARE GOING TO GET BURNT OUT & FRUSTRATED RUNNING YOUR BUSINESS WITHOUT SUPPORT🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve had my fair share of burn outs and feeling frustrated running as an agency, and consulting for other business owners.

And one thing I’ve realized is that, sometimes, burn out isn’t only when you feel overwhelmed with a lot to do, or you’re not resting and all..

Sometimes, you’re burnt out because there’s really no one to vent to about your struggles, about how you’re feeling, about your plans, there’s no one you trust to test ideas with.

It feels like there’s so much in your head to do, but you don’t really know how to go about it, there’s no one to talk to about it, before you know is you’re feeling frustrated and overwhelmed, even when if you haven’t done much.

Recently, I’ve had most of my bootcamp students either come visit me, or reach out to me just to talk, learn new strategies and what not. And one of them in particular reached out to me just to vent, she said a lot about how she’s tired of the business, she’s feeling overwhelmed and all.

🎯After I was done reading, I realized that what she needed was my support, not one hot strategy, or even my advice. She just needed someone to listen to her, and push her to the right direction without talking too much.

So I decided to be that support, and for the past few days, she has bounced back like nothing ever happened‼️

But I was just thinking to myself yesterday, a lot of business owners may go through the same thing, and actually end of giving up, or going offline for a long time with no explanation. You’ll just see that they’ve stopped posting and business has stopped.

I know you know a lot of business owners like that. Well, my advice to you today, no matter what anyone tells you sis, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITHOUT SUPPORT.

Have someone or people you can call sometimes and just cry, have someone you know will be there for you when you need nothing but support, or push. Because sometimes all you just need in the midst of your overwhelm, is a listening ear and a hand to pat you on your back.

I shared this with my WhatsApp geng, I say let me bring it to Insta family members, come and judge this matter. Boya it’s my head that is turning, Abi some of these young tech guys are just something else🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

So I needed a copy writer to join my team, because there’s so much to do and the team is expanding yeah. This guy sent a message on the first day, I didn’t see it because honestly the applications were a lot.

In his bid to “stand out”, oga went “crazy”, because I don’t understand😂

Me I said I should come and ask you guys o, is that how to stand out? You pipo that are copy writers, come and explain to me, is that how you pipo do it?

Did this grab your ATTENTION?? Read caption till the end‼️👇🏻

Part of why you may be struggling with visibility right now, could be because a lot of people are not seeing your posts, even when you have a lot of followers.

Why? Instagram is primarily showing posts based on ranking! So you may have followers, but if your content has no history of keeping your followers engaged and interested, it’s less likely that a lot of them will see your posts.

Not to talk of new people organically. So what do you do??

Start GRABBING ATTENTION With your content. Before you make that post, no matter how valuable it may be, ask yourself, Is this going to grab attention?? Is this going to keep them glued??

Because if you don’t grab our attention, we may not care to watch till the end, or read everything. We have other content begging and dragging our attention.

How are you standing out?? How are you attracting the audience you need to sell your market Richard?? Don’t play‼️‼️

If you keep doing I’m shy I’m shy, then just be comfortable with the result you get. Nah who get our attention we Dey answer.

This same principle applies even when you’re running ADS on any social media platform. If you like spend $100 per day on Ad spend, if you don’t have our attention, you have wasted your money🫠

So this week, in all your marketing activities for your business, AIM TO GRAB ATTENTION, & RETAIN IT! If it’s not going to grab our attention, don’t do it!!!!‼️

One of the things that has helped me grow in business is community.
I have enjoyed so much support and strength and growth from communities I belong to that is why the Naijabrandchick you see today exists.
But what I did not do early enough is to start my own community.
Atleast I enjoyed one so why not start one and pay it forward. So in the second batch of my DSI I started one. It required a lot of my time and my effort but I was happy to do it.
Today I have seen so many DSI members grow so much not just because of the 2 months program but the community that they enjoy for a lifetime with me.
As 1st of May comes closer, I am super excited to welcome another set of people into my community.
How you know you have done well as a coach is when your students don’t have to run to you for every small issue.

Don’t be the reason why your marketing efforts are getting wasted Folake! Whether it’s before an order is made, be intentional about properly listening to your customer, showing them you understand what they need, and carry them along. Or it’s after an order, and the customer has a complain, stop getting defensive, just listen! Maybe if you listen better, you can still retain that customer regardless of their concerns with your services. Here are a few things you can start to PRACTICE to improve your listening skills: 🎯 Do less talking, and more hearing to understand. Emphasis on HEARING TO UNDERSTAND 🎯 Take note of particular points raised and give answers tailored to that. Nothing annoys a customer more than avoiding their issues and talking off point🤦🏻‍♀️, don’t do it Chioma! 🎯 After listening, repeat what the customer has said to be sure you heard well, and to show them that you’re paying attention. 🎯 Ask follow up questions based on what has been said. 🎯 If you’re a service/knowledge based business owner during a consultation, take more time asking questions that reveals their problems, don’t cut in with that you think too fast. Take time to diagnose, and only raise solutions tailored to those specific problems raised, and show exactly how to help. Avoid talking too much about yourself & expertise unless asked.
