The United States of America ranks 89th (of 179 ranked countries) on the Egalitarian Democracy Index (the level of equal access to resources, power, and freedoms across various groups within a society, in addition to the level of electoral democracy). Seems like we could do better.

As I wrote in the context of another poorly-reasoned SCOTUS case in 2010 (https://www.clocktowerlaw.com/3079.html): "As the only unelected branch of government, the judicial branch derives its legitimacy and authority from and in proportion to its ability to do its job well: to explain the law. The Supreme Court MUST explain its decisions or it is not the supreme court anymore."

Today, The US Supreme Court is no longer supreme; it is corrupt. Corrupt like states with gerrymandered districts, corrupt like those "elected" from those districts, corrupt like a convicted felon.

It is a dark day in America, a day that will live in infamy. Democracy in the USA had a pretty good run, but I'm pretty sure that it's over. R.I.P. U.S.A.
