SACRIFICE | The concept of making sacrifices is something that Evgeniy Kim is very familiar with since his family emigrated from Uzbekistan to the United States. As a husband and father to two young girls, he continues to make sacrifices daily to balance the demands between becoming a professional athlete, and being present with his family and loved ones while staying on task in his day job. Thankfully, these sacrifices have brought about some success when he recently made the main draw for the pro's singles category, in the recent Arizona PPA tournament, beating players who were seeded higher than him.

Sacrifice plays a pivotal role in the journey of a trailblazer, and entails relinquishing immediate comforts, conveniences, and requires them to make difficult choices and trade-offs in pursuit of their greater goals. As uncomfortable and challenging as his journey might be, Evgeniy understands the unwavering commitment, focus and discipline that is required to accomplish his goals without losing sight of the important things in life. As such, he believes in making the most out of opportunities, not taking things for granted and having faith to trust the process.

Sacrifice often requires us to give up certain things to make way for greater things to come.

GROWTH | For over two decades, Rachel's measurement of success was relative to how successful the people around her were. This led her down a path of unhealthy competition and constantly thinking she was not good enough. As such, she struggled to build genuine relationships with her peers and struggled to rejoice with others when they did well, especially in examinations. Over time, she realised that everyone just has a different path to walk that allows us to contribute to the world in our own unique way. Therefore, one's progress is only truly measured and witnessed when compared to their past self.

Growth became a fundamental building block of her identity as she strives to become a better individual each day. Ultimately, trailblazing is about embracing one's journey, embracing personal growth, and making a lasting impact by daring to explore new horizons, challenge your status quo, and inspire others to do so. Doing so enables us to embrace our individuality and leverage our unique talents and perspectives to make meaningful contributions to our field.

BELIEVE | Trailblazer, Elaine Yong, understood the power of self-belief when she made history as the first Singaporean woman to bowl a perfect game in 1995 despite having never come close to doing so before. However, she trusted the process, maintained her focus, rose to the occasion and eventually walked home with a prize money of $50,000. With this same mindset and belief, she views every obstacle as a stepping stone towards greater heights and continues to inspire others with her ambition and discipline.

"Learning never stops" is what keeps her going. Trailblazing requires one to keep believing in breakthroughs in areas they seek to improve. This belief is always backed by actions and a willingness to put ourselves out there even when the challenges seem insurmountable. Belief is the spark that ignites a trailblazer's journey, driving them to envision a better future, overcome challenges, and inspire others to join them on their path to greatness.

GENEROSITY | Trailblazer, Darren Ho, has had to navigate uncharted territories and overcome unprecedented obstacles on his road towards making history as the first Singaporean to win Gold in the 35+ Open Men's Singles 5.0 event at the recent PPA Tour in Phoenix, Arizona. He shares that being generous with one's time, resources, and knowledge enables trailblazers to cultivate relationships and support systems that open doors of opportunities for everyone to accomplish more.

Generosity reflects a mindset of abundance rather than scarcity, which allows us to approach challenges with optimism and creativity as we innovate solutions.
