It’s moments like these that remind us: mistakes are simply opportunities to learn and grow. What truly matters is staying positive, keeping our sense of humor, and striving for progress—not perfection.

We love working with Ronny Riemer and are so inspired by his skill, dedication, humor and horsemanship when things aren't always perfect. 💚 It’s proof that even the best are always learning, and we’re here for every step of the ride.

Practicing challenging elements like skinnies and corners in the arena before heading out on cross-country is a vital step in building confidence and precision for both horse and rider.

In the arena, the controlled environment allows riders to focus on fundamentals like balance, line and rhythm. Horses learn to approach obstacles calmly and correctly, ensuring they understand what is being asked of them.
By mastering this in the arena first, horses and riders are better prepared to tackle cross-country, boosting their confidence and ensuring a safer, more successful ride.

Ready to improve your riding? These 3 exercises will help build your horse’s strength, balance and responsiveness—perfect for confident, independent riders and horses.

1️⃣ Serpentines – A fantastic way to improve suppleness and balance. Guide your horse in smooth serpentine patterns, focusing on straightness across the center and consistent bending through each turn. This exercise helps keep your horse supple and connected.

2️⃣ Cantering Through Bounce Poles – Improve coordination and rhythm. Set up poles 9 - 10 feet apart and canter your horse through them. This exercise builds strength and helps maintain rhythm at the canter, allowing your horse to stay focused and balanced on stride placement.

3️⃣ Transitions – Perfect for building responsiveness and communication. Practice walk, trot and canter transitions with clear, smooth cues. Frequent changes will help keep your horse engaged and improve overall responsiveness.

These exercises are ideal for riders who are independently riding and have a solid foundation.

Try them out and let us know how they work for you! Which one will you start with? Tag us in your progress—we’d love to see it! 🐴✨

How do you adjust your stirrups?

Adjusting your stirrups while keeping your feet in the irons can be a safer option while mounted. Here’s why:

✅ Maintains Balance: Keeping your feet in the stirrups helps you stay centered and stable.

Ashley Donadt from Donadt Dressage shares her expert advice to help you and your horse achieve smoother, more balanced turns:

✅ Ride Straight Into the Corner: Keep your horse balanced and straight as you approach—don’t anticipate the turn too soon.
✅ Halt in the Corner: Bring your horse to a complete halt in the corner. This teaches them to wait and respond to your aids.
✅ Get as Far Into the Corner as You Can: Focus on riding deep into the corner before asking for the turn. This helps your horse stay balanced and engaged.

Keep in mind: Your horse will naturally want to turn early—that’s where problems usually start. Stay proactive and guide them all the way into the corner!
