The Word for Today: The Seventh Day and the Last Daysโ€”A Call to Action

Attention, church members, true missionaries, and believers of the third angel's message! The world stands on the brink of a significant turning point. In the name of freedom, the law of God faces annulment, orchestrated by the influence of evil. Religious liberty, once cherished, will soon fade away. The pivotal dispute that will rock the globe revolves around the Sabbath question.

Amidst this critical time, I implore you all to reflect upon the message conveyed in Isaiah's fifty-eighth chapter. Within its verses lies the benevolent work that God expects from His people at this precise momentโ€”a work that He Himself appointed. There is no ambiguity regarding its relevance and the timing of its profound fulfilment. Scripture explicitly declares, "They that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in" (Isaiah 58:12). God's holy sign, the seventh-day Sabbath, symbolising His creative power, has been supplanted by the influence of the deceiver. Hence, it falls upon His faithful followers to repair the breach in His law. As we near the end, this task becomes increasingly urgent. Those who truly love God will exhibit their devotion by steadfastly obeying His commandments. They shall be the restorers of righteous paths. In the words of the Lord, "If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on My holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, . . . then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth" (Isaiah 58:13, 14). Thus, authentic medical missionary work intertwines inseparably with the faithful observance of God's commandments, specifically emphasising the Sabbath as the significant memorial of His creative work. Its observance plays a vital role in the restoration of the moral image of God within humanity. This is the sacred ministry that God's people are entrusted with at this crucial junctureโ€”a ministry that, when fulfilled diligently, will bestow abundant blessings upon His Church.

Prepare yourselves, for a great crisis awaits the people of God. America, in the near future, will attempt to enforce the observance of the first day of the week as a sacred day upon all. In their pursuit, they will not hesitate to coerce individuals, overriding the voice of their own conscience, to comply with the nation's declaration regarding the Sabbath.

Seventh-day Adventists will find themselves at the forefront of the battle to safeguard the seventh-day Sabbath. The authorities in the United States, as well as in other countries, will rise arrogantly to power and enact laws that infringe upon religious freedom.

The Protestants of the United States, driven by pride and power, will reach out across the chasm to embrace spiritualism. They will extend their hands to clasp those of the Roman power. Under the influence of this unholy trinity, the country will follow in the footsteps of Rome, trampling upon the sacred rights of conscience.

The world is on the brink of witnessing extraordinary events. The culmination of all things draws near. The time of trouble looms, threatening the people of God. It is during this dire period that a decree will be issued, forbidding Sabbath keepers from engaging in buying and selling, imposing severe penalties and even death for non-compliance with the observance of the first day of the week.

The forthcoming decree against God's people will bear a striking resemblance to the one issued by Ahasuerus against the Jews in the time of Esther. Its purpose was to exterminate those who held onto the knowledge of the true God. Yet, just as in that historical account, Satan's sinister plans will be thwarted by a higher power that reigns among humanity.

In the present day, the Protestant world perceives the small company of Sabbath keepers as a modern-day Mordecai within the gates. Their unwavering commitment to God's law and their conduct of reverence stand as a constant rebuke to those who have forsaken the fear of the Lord and trampled upon His Sabbath. The presence of these faithful believers becomes an unwelcome intrusion that must be dealt with by any means necessary.

The same cunning mind that plotted against the faithful throughout history still seeks to eradicate those who fear God and uphold His commandments. Satan will stir up indignation against this humble minority who, in conscience, refuse to embrace popular customs and traditions. Men of influence and reputation will align themselves with the lawless and the wicked, conspiring against the people of God. Lacking scriptural support to challenge the advocates of the Bible Sabbath, they will resort to oppressive legislation to fill the void. It is on this battlefield that the ultimate conflict between truth and falsehood will unfold. Yet, we are not left in doubt regarding the outcome. Just as in the days of Mordecai, the Lord will vindicate His truth and His faithful people.

So, my fellow believers, let these words serve as a clarion call to action. As the world plunges deeper into darkness and hostility towards God's commandments intensifies, we are called to stand firm, unyielding in our allegiance to the truth. The Sabbath, God's holy day, stands as a beacon of light, a symbol of His creative power and His redemptive grace. Let us boldly honour and preserve this sacred gift, for it holds the key to restoring the moral fabric of society.

In the face of impending challenges, we must not falter. Let us unite as one, upholding the principles of religious freedom and standing as ambassadors of truth. Through genuine medical missionary work, grounded in the observance of God's commandments, we can bring healing to a broken world and bear witness to the transformative power of God's love.

Remember, dear friends, the battle we face is not one of flesh and blood, but a spiritual warfare against the forces of darkness. With God on our side, we can courageously confront the encroaching powers of tyranny and deception. May our lives be a testimony of unwavering faith, love, and obedience to God's eternal truth.

As we navigate these last days, let us find solace and strength in the promise that God will guide and protect His faithful remnant. And when the final chapter of this great controversy is written, we shall behold the triumph of truth, the restoration of righteousness, and the ultimate vindication of God's people.

May our hearts be filled with unwavering resolve, for we are called for such a time as this. Let us stand firm in Christ, and to fulfil our divine purpose. Happy Sabbath.

๐ŸŒบ How The Investigative Judgment Affirms Teachings on the State of the Dead

The concept of the Investigative Judgment supports the idea that "the dead know not anything" because it provides a clear explanation of what happens to a person after they die.

According to the Bible, when a person dies, their thoughts perish, and they return to dust (Psalm 146:4; Ecclesiastes 3:19-20).

The Bible also teaches that the dead will be raised to life at the Second Coming of Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

The Investigative Judgment teaches that after a person dies, their fate is determined by the judgment of God. This judgment is based on the life that the person lived, as recorded in the books of heaven.

"Speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty" (James 2:12).

Those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and have lived a life in accordance with His teachings and His commandments will be found worthy of eternal life.

Ellen White wrote, "Through Jesus the fallen sons of Adam become 'sons of God.' 'Both He that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one, for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren' (Hebrews 2:11).

The Christian's life should be one of faith, of victory, and joy in God. 'Whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith' (1 John 5:4)" (The Desire of Ages, p. 312).

The investigative judgment is a work that is done before the second coming of Christ. This judgment is necessary because before Christ comes, every person's character and life must be examined to see if they are fit for heaven. And the judgment is not just about the sins that a person has committed, but it's about the character that they have developed throughout their life.

"The work of investigative judgment and the blotting out of sins is to be accomplished before the second advent of the Lord. Since the dead are to be judged out of the things written in the books, it is impossible that the sins of men should be blotted out until after the judgment at which their cases are to be investigated." (The Great Controversy, p. 485)

On the other hand, those who have rejected Christ and have lived a life of rebellion against God will be condemned to eternal death.

The Investigative Judgment thus provides an explanation for what happens to a person after they die, and it supports the idea that "the dead know not anything" because it teaches that the fate of the dead is not determined immediately after death but rather when the investigative judgment takes place. Until that time, the dead will remain in their graves, unconscious and unaware of what is happening in the world.

The concept of the Investigative Judgment helps to provide a clear and coherent understanding of the afterlife, based on the teachings of the Bible. It offers hope and assurance to those who have accepted Christ and have lived a life in accordance with His teachings, and it serves as a warning to those who have rejected Christ and have lived a life of rebellion against God.

The investigative judgment can be a difficult topic to understand and grapple with, but it's ultimately a message of hope.

We can have confidence in the judgment because we know that the standard by which we will be judged is God's perfect law. And we can have faith that Jesus is there as our mediator, advocating for us before the Father.

19/04/2023

Each has his part to act; to each is granted a measure of light, adapted to the necessities of his time, and sufficient to enable him to perform the work which God has given him to do. But no man, however honored of Heaven, has ever attained to a full understanding of the great plan of redemption, or even to a perfect appreciation of the divine purpose in the work for his own time. Men do not fully understand what God would accomplish by the work which He gives them to do; they do not comprehend, in all its bearings, the message which they utter in His name. {GC 343.2}

Biblical passages such as John 15:5, "I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing," and Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight," support the idea that people are instruments in the hands of God, guided by the Holy Spirit to carry out His purposes.

Ellen G. White, a prominent Seventh-day Adventist writer and prophet, echoes this sentiment in her book The Desire of Ages, stating that "the gospel is to be presented, not as a lifeless theory, but as a living force to change the life" (p. 826). This suggests that people must rely on the Holy Spirit to bring the gospel to life and bring about transformative change in their lives.

As we reflect on this quote and its biblical and literary support, we might ask ourselves: How can we better rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us in our work for God, even when we don't fully understand the message we're conveying or the purpose behind our work? We might also ask: How can we be more receptive to the Holy Spirit's guidance in our daily lives, both in our spiritual and secular pursuits?

No truth is more clearly taught in the Bible than that God by His Holy Spirit especially directs His servants on earth in the great movements for the carrying forward of the work of salvation. Men are instruments in the hand of God, employed by Him to accomplish His purposes of grace and mercy. {GC 343.2}

This quote affirms that the Bible teaches that God directs His servants on earth through the Holy Spirit, especially in the movements for carrying forward the work of salvation. Each person has a role to play in God's plan, and is given a measure of light to carry out the work assigned to them. However, no person, no matter how honored, has a complete understanding of God's plan of redemption or the divine purpose in their work. People may not fully understand the message that they convey in God's name or what God intends to accomplish through their work.

The work of God in the earth presents, from age to age, a striking similarity in every great reformation or religious movement. The principles of God's dealing with men are ever the same. The important movements of the present have their parallel in those of the past, and the experience of the church in former ages has lessons of great value for our own time. {GC 343.1}

This quote highlights the idea that God's work in the world, particularly in religious movements and reforms, has a consistent pattern throughout history. The principles that God uses to interact with humanity have remained the same over time, and the lessons and experiences of the church from the past can provide valuable guidance for the present. Essentially, history repeats itself and we can learn from the past.

This idea is supported by biblical passages such as Ecclesiastes 1:9, which states "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." Additionally, Hebrews 13:8 states "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." These verses suggest that God's principles and actions remain constant throughout time and that the patterns we see in history are likely to repeat themselves.

How might understanding the lessons and experiences of the church from the past be helpful in navigating challenges of our time?

"If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, and shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation." Luke 19:42-44

Jesus is lamenting over the city of Jerusalem and the people's inability to recognize the things that would bring them peace. He says that the time for them to have understood these things has passed, and that they will soon be besieged by enemies who will destroy the city and leave nothing standing. This destruction will come because the people did not recognize the time when God was present among them.

This passage describes Jesus' sorrowful lament over the city of Jerusalem, which he saw from the crest of Olivet during the season of Passover. Although the city and its temple were beautiful and grand, Jesus wept over its impending destruction because the people did not recognize the time of God's visitation and were blind to the things that would bring them peace. His tears were not for himself, but for the thousands of doomed people who did not accept his message of salvation. Jesus foresaw his own impending suffering and death, but in this moment his sorrow was for the people of Jerusalem.

How might this passage inspire us to reflect on our own ability to recognize the times when God is present among us, and to seek out the things that would bring us true peace?

"Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?" "My thoughts are not your thou...
15/04/2023

"Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?" "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." "I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done." Job 11:7; Isaiah 55:8, 9; 46:9, 10. {GC 343.3}

This passage expresses the idea that God is beyond human comprehension and understanding. The verses from Job and Isaiah emphasize that God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours, and that it is impossible for us to fully comprehend Him or His plans. The verse from Isaiah also asserts that God is unique and all-knowing, declaring the end from the beginning and knowing things that have not yet happened.

Biblical passages such as 1 Corinthians 2:11, "For who knows a person's thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God," and Psalm 145:3, "Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom," support the idea that God is beyond human understanding.

Ellen G. White reinforces this idea in her book Steps to Christ, stating that "we may have a knowledge of God, of Christ, of the Holy Spirit, and of the truth as it is in Jesus, but beyond this we cannot go. . . . The highest education, the greatest experience, the deepest learning, can never explain the mystery of God" (p. 104).

As we consider this passage and its supporting texts, we might ask ourselves: How can we reconcile our desire to know and understand God with the recognition that He is beyond our comprehension? How can we cultivate humility and trust in the face of our limitations as humans?

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans 8:1

"While the Christian's life will be characterized by humility, it should not be marked with sadness and self-depreciation. It is the privilege of everyone so to live that God will approve and bless him. It is not the will of our heavenly Father that we should be ever under condemnation and darkness... We may go to Jesus and be cleansed, and stand before the law without shame and remorse." {GC 477}

The title of this study is: "The Villain of the Drama of Revelation" from our Revelation Seminar studies.

In this study we are going to discuss the shocking facts of our bitterest enemy. Click here to download the PDF and follow along with the video.

The book of Revelation unveils the enemyโ€™s strategy to ensnare and ruin the world. Since the beginning, His plan has been to steal the seat of Christ and usurp the honor and glory due to the Creator.

As we briefly review the book of Revelation we can gleam the following: Thereโ€™s a terrifying conflict in the spiritual world taking place and we are the loot.

Jesus, as the Son of God, and Co-Creator with the Father, has been leading the forces of good against evil, by revealing the love of the Father to us. His tactics are based on the fruits of the spirit which consist of love, courage, wisdom, kindness, patience, integrity, gentleness, serenity, sympathy, compassion, tact and geniality. This is why Jesus is worthy of our worship and praise, because He is our Redeemer and our Creator.

Conversely, the enemy leading the forces of evil, uses relentless and devastating tactics when assaulting Jesus and His people.

According to the book of Revelation the devil is militant, venomous, and heartless. His hateful and unscrupulous, self-centered assaults are designed to obliterate the knowledge of God from our minds, and lead those who forfeit the protection of God into worshipping him, the creature, rather than the Creator.

The sobering fact is we are designed to worship. This is why idolatry is so rampant in the world, because in the beginning, the Creator designed us for His glory. Without the knowledge of God weโ€™ll end up worshipping ourselves, a thing, or a false ideology, giving homage to Satan.

As we need food to sustain our physical strength, so do we need Christ, the Bread from heaven, to sustain spiritual life and impart strength to work the works of God. As the body is continually receiving the nourishment that sustains life and vigor, so the soul must be constantly communing with Christ, submitting to Him and depending wholly upon Him. MB 19.1

As the weary traveler seeks the spring in the desert and, finding it, quenches his burning thirst, so will the Christian thirst for and obtain the pure water of life, of which Christ is the fountain. MB 19.2

As we discern the perfection of our Saviour's character we shall desire to become wholly transformed and renewed in the image of His purity. The more we know of God, the higher will be our ideal of character and the more earnest our longing to reflect His likeness. A divine element combines with the human when the soul reaches out after God and the longing heart can say, โ€œMy soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him.โ€ Psalm 62:5. The Lord God of Israel is hungry for fruit. He calls upon His workers to branch out more than they are doing. He desires them to make the world their field of labor rather than to work only for our churches. The apostle Paul went from place to place, preaching the truth to those in the darkness of error. He labored for a year and six months at Corinth, and proved the divine character of his mission by raising up a flourishing church, composed of Jews and Gentiles. Christ never confined His labors to one place. The towns and cities of Palestine resounded with the truths that fell from His lips. 7T 268.1

01/11/2021

โ€œAnd if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.โ€ โ€œIf we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.โ€ The conditions of obtaining mercy from God are simple and reasonable. The Lord does not require us to do some grievous thing in order to gain forgiveness. We need not make long and wearisome pilgrimages, or perform painful penances, to commend our souls to the God of heaven or to expiate our transgression. He that โ€œconfesseth and forsakethโ€ his sin โ€œshall have mercy.โ€ Proverbs 28:13. AA 552.1

In the courts above, Christ is pleading for His churchโ€”pleading for those for whom He has paid the redemption price of His blood. Centuries, ages, can never lessen the efficacy of His atoning sacrifice. Neither life nor death, height nor depth, can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus; not because we hold Him so firmly, but because He holds us so fast. If our salvation depended on our own efforts, we could not be saved; but it depends on the One who is behind all the promises. Our grasp on Him may seem feeble, but His love is that of an elder brother; so long as we maintain our union with Him, no one can pluck us out of His hand. AA 552.2

As the years went by and the number of believers grew, John labored with increasing fidelity and earnestness for his brethren. The times were full of peril for the church. Satanic delusions existed everywhere. By misrepresentation and falsehood the emissaries of Satan sought to arouse opposition against the doctrines of Christ, and in consequence dissensions and heresies were imperiling the church. Some who professed Christ claimed that His love released them from obedience to the law of God. On the other hand, many taught that it was necessary to observe the Jewish customs and ceremonies; that a mere observance of the law, without faith in the blood of Christ, was sufficient for salvation. Some held that Christ was a good man, but denied His divinity. Some who pretended to be true to the cause of God were deceivers, and in practice they denied Christ and His gospel. Living themselves in transgression, they were bringing heresies into the church. Thus many were being led into the mazes of skepticism and delusion. AA 553.1

30/10/2021

Satan takes advantage of every unconsecrated element for the accomplishment of his purposes. Among those who profess to be the supporters of God's cause there are those who unite with His enemies and thus lay His cause open to the attacks of His bitterest foes. Even some who desire the work of God to prosper will yet weaken the hands of His servants by hearing, reporting, and half believing the slanders, boasts, and menaces of His adversaries. Satan works with marvelous success through his agents, and all who yield to their influence are subject to a bewitching power that destroys the wisdom of the wise and the understanding of the prudent. But, like Nehemiah, God's people are neither to fear nor to despise their enemies. Putting their trust in God, they are to go steadily forward, doing His work with unselfishness, and committing to His providence the cause for which they stand. PK 645.1
