CCAI’s 2024 Foster Youth Internship (FYI) Program® applications are now OPEN through November 13, 2023! Apply via the link in bio.

The FYI Program began in 2003 as an effort to raise awareness to federal policymakers about the needs and unique perspectives of individuals who have experienced the U.S. foster care system. This is an immersive seven-week, educational, and civic experience in Washington, D.C. with a comprehensive onboarding to ensure participants are well-prepared for effective advocacy and leadership development in the nation’s capital. CCAI works with congressional offices to secure a congressional internship for each participant. In addition, CCAI organizes an orientation, advocacy trainings, networking, and various other professional development opportunities. These combined experiences allow the participants to create a federal policy report that is presented to U.S. Congress, Administration, Department of Health and Human Services, and released to policymakers and advocates across the country.

Details on eligibility, application information and instructions, and more can be found at www.ccainstitute.org.

🙋🏻‍♀️I like to stay behind-the-scenes, but here I am! I’m Haley, the host and creator of Adoptees On - the podcast where adoptees discuss the adoption experience.

🎧If you’re a long-time listener, would you share in the comments WHY new folks should listen to Adoptees On?

🌳My reasons for being here:
1. Make the podcast that I wanted and needed to hear
2. Elevate and amplify adoptee voices
3. Support adult adoptees to know they aren’t alone
4. Connect adult adoptees into a welcoming community
5. Encourage adult adoptees to find the supports they are looking for (support groups, therapists, adoptee friends)

🍃I am here to serve adoptees. Period.

🎤My show is free because of Patreon supporters, and if you value it and hope it continues, please donate to keep it going! Link in bio for the extra goodies you get when you support the show.

🚫If you’re not adopted, you can listen, you can watch, you can learn, but these are NOT things I do:
1. I do not give advice to adoptive parents
2. I do not explain myself to adoptive parents
3. I do not answer emails from adoptive parents
4. I do not answer dms from adoptive parents

Check out what this Korean adoptee has to say about her adoption experience. https://www.ted.com/talks/sara_jones_my_story_of_love_and_loss_as_a_transracial_adoptee -763652

A mysterious tattoo on her forearm was all that linked Sara Jones, adopted as a child by white parents, to her South Korean origins. Searching for her birth family taught her that transracial adoption stories often frame new lives abroad as strokes of luck that call for endless gratitude, obscuring....

A survey for kinship caregivers:

Since the beginning of the public health crisis with COVID-19, our Grandfamilies Outcome Workgroup (GrOW) members and our partners have been learning about the impact of this pandemic for kinship families. We are sending this letter to your organization, in collaboration with our national partners, Generations United and Collaborative Solutions, and the many kinship families across the country to share our heartfelt appreciation and concern for you during this difficult time.

We believe that it is urgent to construct a comprehensive data story of the needs and resiliency experienced by kinship caregivers and multi-generational families across the U.S. We would like to please ask for your help in reaching out to the families in your community networks to collect this information via an online survey:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PQK2HSH

We plan to keep the survey open until June 15, 2020. We would like to promptly share this information back to you and the broader community to inform how we can better support your work as a relative caregiver to children. Please reach out to [email protected] if you would like any additional information or if you are interested in participating in more opportunities to share your story.

Take this survey powered by surveymonkey.com. Create your own surveys for free.
