Season 3 is here!

Join Will Sadler, Anya Media as he talks to Rupert Jones-Lee about mental health in the film and TV industry.

As The Film and TV Charity launches the Looking Glass survey 2024, Rupert discusses the concerning findings from the 2022 report in which only 11% of those surveyed considered the screen sector a mentally health place to work.

We talk about the reasons behind these mental health struggles, the measures currently being implemented to address them, and the further actions needed to create a healthier work environment.

🎙️ Season 2: Episode 5 has landed!

https://buff.ly/4aezISh

💬 In this episode, we'll be talking to Phil Dore and Amanda Williamson about the regulation or, rather, the lack of it in mental health care in the UK

🌟 Amanda Williamson is a senior accredited counsellor and coach working in private practice.

🌟 Phil Dore is a mental health nurse who has spent most of his career in the NHS.

📜 They co-authored the Unsafe Spaces report in 2016, advocating for the regulation of counselling and psychotherapy

🔗 (Link to the report in the show notes)

🇬🇧 We explore the concept of protected titles and professions, shedding light on the current landscape of talking therapy in the UK. I don't want to give too big a spoiler alert, but I think you might be slightly horrified by which titles and professions are and are not regulated.

🧠 Tune in as we look into the ongoing relevance of their report and the critical need for better and consistent (and legislative) regulation of therapy in mental health care.

In today’s episode of Lively Minds, writer, director and activist Vici Wreford-Sinnott guides us through how the Social Model of Disability can transform the way we understand our mental health problems.

This is a great companion episode to our earlier conversation with Prof Tom Shakespeare that introduced us to how concepts of mental health and disability interconnect.

After hearing her brilliant interview on Disability Arts Online and Mind the Gap’s Disability And… podcast, we invited Vici to discuss how she connects her own mental health difficulties to the social model of disability. We discuss the important role disabled identity plays in self advocacy as well as campaigning for inclusion and equity for all disabled people.

In today's episode of Lively Minds: The Mental Health Podcast, Amanda Marples - author of The Healing Workbook, published by Summersdale Publishers - returns to talk to us about the connections between trauma and neurodivergence - particularly autism and ADHD.

Neurodivergent identity has become a hugely positive way for people (including those with mental health problems) to reframe the challenges they experience as variations in human cognition rather than disorders or deficits.

Amanda talks to us about her work understanding how neurodivergent people might react differently to trauma, and how traumatic experiences can shape neurodivergent development.

It's important to clarify that not all neurodivergent people have experienced trauma, and neither does trauma inevitably lead to neurodivergence. Rather, Amanda takes us through some fascinating research about correlations between the two.
