It's Fun Fridays peeps!

Are you looking for something fun to watch on Netflix?

I recommend the show called Cobra Kai - it's for those who of us who are nostalgic about the 80's and 90's - especially about the music from those times!

You'll hear some hard rock and see Metallica t-shirts being worn. And you might even have a few laughs.

Enjoy!

Decades after the tournament that changed their lives, the rivalry between Johnny and Daniel reignites in this sequel to the "Karate Kid" films.

We know it was the Valentine's Day this weekend, but did you know it was also the start of the Lunar Year? More specifically the Chinese New Year. The year of the Ox.

🐮The animal, ox is among the biggest and strongest of the 12 zodiac animals in the Chinese horoscope.

If you're into horoscopes (like me! haha) then you can read more about what it means to be born in the year of the Ox.

https://buff.ly/3olDv8K

And if you're not born in the year of the Ox, then what does it mean to live in the year of the Ox.... you know given to what we've all experienced last year!

Some people believe that this year is going to be "a turning point from last year"

Let's hope that's the case.

Stay safe everyone! 🙏

In this episode I’ll share how you can use 'get something' to express a surprise!

So how do you use this phrase and what does it actually mean?

To use ‘get over’ to express a surprise means expressing the feeling of being astounded, shocked and appalled.

As in this emoji 😱 - that's a good example

Like, ‘oh, my god, I can’t believe it’ – that type of shock.

Enjoy this episode!

In today's episode I talk about the phrase 'can't get over something' when you want to express a surprise. I share a few examples. Enjoy :)

Have you ever struggled to:

- pronounce words properly in English
- understand other English-speakers and fast-talking native speakers
- understand songs and movies in English?

Well, there's a reason for this...

Our "non-English" ears are not accustomed to all 44 sounds of the English language!

I explain more inside Pro Speak.

*Blas from the past* 😮

Many moons ago I created this episode that explains the difference between English accents and pronunciation.

I recorded this about 4 years ago....when I lived in Chile... when it was FINE to travel! 😱

Oh my goodness! What's happening with the world today....

However, I still think this episode is relevant today, especially for those who are obsessed with sounding like 'native-speakers'.

Imagine what would Arnold Schwarzenegger sound like if he spoke with a heavy southern accent? 🤣 (What's a heavy southern accent? Think George W Bush...)

(Note: Don't get me wrong, I love to listen to the southern accent - think Matthew McConaughey, Justin Timberlake.... don't know who they are? Google them!)

You’ll get a chance to Repeat After Me as well, so you learn faster.

Hi guys! I’ll be opening the doors to the Pro Speak program in October.

It’s a three-week program to help you speak better English.

You will learn some new phrases and build a vocabulary of new words. The whole idea is to improve your pronunciation so you can be understood by other English speakers. And, you’ll be able to understand other English speakers, more specifically the native speakers when they speak fast (the fast-talking native speakers).

The best thing out of this is that the lessons are delivered via email. No need to login to a platform and watch a video. You don’t have to remember any passwords or logins. You just rely on your inbox. We communicate via email from the comfort of your home, and my feedback is sometimes in a Video format and sometimes in Audio format.

Don’t forget to visit buff.ly/3iAUjFM to register your interest when I open the door to this new and exciting program on 21st October!

Have you heard of the British show called 'Killing Eve'?

It's my new addiction during Covid-19 times.

In the series, one of the main characters called Villanelle, is an assassin who's obsessed with killing another character in the series Eve, manages to do perfect accents in Russian, Italian, French and even Scottish...

Villanelle's character is played by a British actress called Jodie Comer. Jodie does a really great impersonation of a Russian accent.

On top of that, she does other accents, too:

Throughout three seasons, she’s taken on American, Scottish, Italian, and French accents, along with having to speak those last two languages.

If you have the opportunity to watch the series, I highly recommend it.

It's funny, a bit serious, not for kids or faint-hearted. Lots of action and there's also the traveling around Europe. 😍

https://buff.ly/3ndRFbN

Villanelle on 'Killing Eve' can pull off any persona, with many different accents. Turns out that Jodie Comer can do that thanks to her dad.

In this recent EMS episode I introduce you to Dad jokes. 😄

What are 'Dad jokes'?

Dad jokes are simple and short jokes - one line or two lines of text - some jokes are easy to understand by non-English speakers but some need a bit more explanation!

I thought this would be a good opportunity hear some English humour.

DISCLAIMER: some of my friends might disagree that Dad jokes ARE in fact humorous, oftentimes they are not funny! But the sheer fact that they are not funny is what makes them funny, if that makes sense!

My intention with this episode was to break the monotonous daily routine because of what's going on in the world today.

I hope you’ll find them funny! :)

Hi guys! I’ll be opening the doors to the Pro Speak program very soon.

It’s a three-week program to help you speak better English. The objective of the program is not only to learn new phrases but to learn about the technicalities of English pronunciation.

You will learn some new phrases and build a vocabulary of new words. The whole idea is to improve your pronunciation so you can be understood by other English speakers. And, you’ll be able to understand other English speakers, more specifically the native speakers when they speak fast (the fast-talking native speakers).

Just walked this hike called Glacial Trail in Adelaide for the first time since settling in Adelaide. The place is full of ancient history that I didn't know about!
When I say 'ancient' I mean 250 million years old. Ice Age ancient.
For example this Sugarloaf hill was under an Ice Cap that's melted away over thousands of years.
A beautiful experience indeed and feel so blessed to have seen it. 🧜‍♀️🙏
