Progress continues on New York City's 1st off shore wind farm..

Norwegian company Equinor has secured over $3 billion in project financing for Empire Wind 1, New York City’s first offshore wind farm, set to power 500,000 homes starting in 2027.

Construction is already underway, with the project located 15-30 miles southeast of Long Island, spanning 80,000 acres with a capacity of 810 MW.

Total investments, including redevelopment of the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal (SBMT) and expected tax credits, are estimated at $5 billion. The project will also create jobs during construction.

Empire Wind is being developed in two phases. Phase 2 will add over 1,200 MW capacity, with the lease originally awarded to Equinor in 2017.

(Bethlehem NY) On Monday, a 30-foot sailboat sank in the Hudson River near the Henry Hudson Boat Launch, per the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).
