Dear Kak Larissa and Thames,

Selamat siang and Sawadee Krap!

First off, I wish to commend your works in promoting the Final Fantasy VII fandom in Southeast Asia. Thames, for your Cloud Strife cosplay and Kak Larissa, for your Tifa cosplay.

Now, kindly permit me to offer an audacious idea in stepping up my Cloud Strife cosplay: to role-play the icon during the stream of Final Fantasy VII: Remake. That is, stream the game in Cloud cosplay, while delivering in-game commentary in his character.

From April until May this year, I did that approach using Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis. At the time, I delivered in-game commentary as Cloud. This gives the audience the feeling they are chatting with Cloud himself. I have seen influencers who streamed in cosplay. However, I could be among the very few (if not the only one) in Southeast Asia to stream in cosplay while delivering in-character commentary.

I envision to replicate this approach in future streams of FFVII: Remake, since my focus is on PC streaming. I wish to give FFVII fans of Southeast Asia a first-hand experience of Cloud through this immersive approach in streaming. Kindly click the video below to see a sample of my streams.

Happy Birthday to the lone character I cosplayed as!

It all began with one, clear statement: sure, try it. But I will do so as Cloud Strife.

One year later, I had many adventures as him, especially the launch of Rebirth - how could I forget Mr. Hamaguchi-san and Ate Roxanne! You affirmed that I took my cosplay a step higher! Thank you. Domo-arigatou gozaimasu!

Then, another step higher: playing the piano as him. I went that deep into cosplaying as him!

Indeed, I took my Cloud cosplay one step higher!

Most of us FFVII fans saw Cloud play the piano in Rebirth for a mini game. Why not take it up a notch? Real life at that!

As I went through cosplaying as Cloud Strife, I felt spiritual dryness, as St. John of the Cross described it: The Dark Knight of The Soul. Surely, Cloud has had his fair share of that Dark Night, when he realized whatever he does, it won't change a thing.

The glory of carrying the Buster Sword is a testament to his cross of profound smallness.

If Aerith could hear his heart beating, she would know Cloud desolation, words that can't find...

For my first cosplay, I knew from the depths of my heart who to cosplay as: Cloud Strife. He looks like a "cool" character to cosplay, but I chose him for a different his reason : his brokenness and his humanity.

Tifa helped him piece his memories together, shattering a broken narrative of who he is. That made me identify with his being.

This brings me to my philosophy of cosplaying: It is in perfecting the portrayal of the character do I embrace his imperfections. Then, my own.

A devout Catholic myself, I had a strong revulsion to cosplay, given its connection to materialism and hedonism... until I had visions that spurred me to try my first cosplay - an offering to God. Done right and with a deep connection to the character, it would be godly.

Also, cosplay led me to a spiritual conversion experience ... as it led me to trust God more. How? By the view that in perfecting the cosplay do I connect with the character's imperfections. By extension, that of humanity.

Cosplayers, content creators and influencers, we have a role model: Blessed Carlo Acutis, soon to be canonized.

Happy Easter, everyone!

Easter is a time for new beginnings, just as the Son of the Creator rose anew. I want to give my cosplay page a rebrand... Godwyn Cosplay & Gaming!

Why? Sobrang ikinakahiya ko po noon ang pagko-cosplay ko kasi matanda na ako (26 noong nagsimula ako) at may gusto akong marating sa pagiging propesyunal ako.

Malaking responsibilidad ang pagko-cosplay, lalo na kapag napamahal ka na sa karakter na ibinibida mo. Dapat kilala mo nang lubos ang karakter mo, hangga't kaya mong pasukin ang isip at ugali niya. Kaya mong dapat akuin ang pagkatao ng karakter na dala-dala mo.

Nag-rebrand po ako, dahil magmula ngayon, hindi ko na ikinahihiya ang pagko-cosplay ko. Abangan sa part 2. Salamat po.

Been slowly indulging on FF7 Rebirth still. While some people I know can blast through the game over a weekend, I like to take my experience in bite size and make the game last as long as I can. Been enjoying every bit of this game so far, and I have no plans on leaving Costa del Sol just yet. Hehehe.
