Sindiswa Dlathu (born January 4, 1974, is a South African actress and musician. She is well known for portraying Thandaza[2] Mokoena on Muvhango, a role she played from the show's inception in 1997 until her departure in 2017.

Dlathu left Muvhango to play a leading role in the telenovela The River, where she plays the role of Lindiwe Dlamini - Dikana, a fierce woman, who would do anything to protect her wealth and maintain her lavish lifestyle.

Career

Dlathu was cast as the lead role's understudy in the stage version of Sarafina!. In the screen version, she worked alongside Whoopi Goldberg and was commissioned as an assistant choreographer to Michael Peters. In 1988, with the second cast led by Seipati Sothoane whom Sindi understudied. When the play went on tour, she stayed behind and did Township fever in 1989–1990 touring the US with the play for a year.[citation needed]

Dlathu then returned to school after four years of being with Mbongeni Ngema's committed artists. She completed her matric in 1996, and then went back to performing arts, stage plays in 1997 she was in the FNB Vita Award-winning Game, where she performed with Mary Twala, Abigail Kubeka, and the late Nomhle Nkonyeni.

She won the award for favourite actress at the 2020 DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards.

Dlathu, as Lindiwe Dlamini-Dikana from The River, appeared in a crossover episode of The Queen as the friend of the lead female character, Harriet Khoza - Sebata.[6]

In 2021, she won SAFTA award in Best Actress category for her role of Lindiwe in The River.[7]

Patrick Molefe Shai (9 December 1956[1] – 22 January 2022) was a South African actor and director.[2] He was best known for the roles in the television series and shows Soul City, Generations, Zone 14, Ashes to Ashes, and Zero Tolerance. He was one of the founding members of Free Film Makers of South Africa.

Personal life

During a protest in Dobsonville due to electricity cuts, he was wounded by 11 rubber bullets and rushed to Tshepo Themba Hospital.[4][5] He was shot in the neck, back, leg, and arms. After the incident, he opened a complaint against police with the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) for the brutal activity of the police.

Shai was married to Mmasechaba Shai, and together they had two children.[3] He committed su***de in Dobsonville on 22 January 2022.[10][11]

Career

He started career as a dancer at Safari Ranch with Mzumba African Drama and Ballet.[12] In 1994, he joined with the cast of drama serial Soul City, for which he won the Avanti Trophy for Best Actor at the NTVA Avanti Awards in 2000. In 1995, he wrote and acted in the film Hearts & Minds by playing the role "Mathews Kage". He later won the Silver Dolphin Award for Best Screenplay at the Festróia - Tróia International Film Festival.[13] In 1996, he also played the role of "Christmas" in the 1996 BBC mini-series Rhodes.[3]

For his role as "Enoch Molope" in the 2004 television serial Zero Tolerance, he was nominated for the SAFTA Golden Horn Award for Best Actor in TV Drama category at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA). In 2005, he joined with the SABC2 mini-series Noah's Arc and nominated for the SAFTA Golden Horn for Best Actor at 2010 SAFTA. In 2008, he acted in the SABC2 sitcom Moferefere Lenyalon and played the lead role of "Kgosi Matlakala". After that, in 2010, he played the role "Bra Sporo" in the SABC2 drama series Hola Mpinji and as "Tiger Sibiya" for the third season of the SABC1 drama series Zone 14.[3] At the 2014 SAFTA, he was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Award for his role in the serial Skeem Saam. In 2017, Shai joined with the cast of popular SABC2 soap opera 7de Laan and played the role "Jacob Moloi". For his role, he was again nominated for the SAFTA Golden Horn Award for Best Supporting Actor at the SAFTA 2018.

Lydia Mokgokoloshi (born 27 September 1939) is a South African actress, best known for her role as Koko Mantsha and the mother of Charity Ramabu and grandmother of Katlego (Kat) and Joseph(Jojo) in the SABC 1 soap, Skeem Saam. Her most notable role was as Mma Nkwesheng in the 1980s drama, Bophelo ke Semphekgo

Early life and education

She was born in a small village outside Polokwane called BOTLOKWA. She was a teacher before she got acting roles.

Career

She is well known for acting as Mma Nkwesheng, an evil, cruel mother-in-law on the popular Pedi TV drama, Bophelo ke semphekgo. She has also acted in a number of TV dramas like Ngwanaka Okae, Muvhango, and currently in Skeem Saam.

Molefi Monaisa (born in Potchefstroom, North West) is a South African actor known for his role as Daniel Phute in the SABC3 comedy series One Way, from 2006-2007.

He is also popular for his role as Wallet on Skeem Saam. Molefi was a cast member of the SABC2 sitcom Konsternasie Oppie Stasie, where he played the role of Amos Tshabalala, the General Manager of Station Siyaya.

His acting breakthrough came in the year 2006 when he played the role of Daniel Phute on One Way.

In 2011, he began playing the role of Wallet in Skeem Saam. His character Wallet is a retired actor and poet who has travelled all over the world including cities like New York and London.

He said that one of his friends, Africa Tsoai, who plays John Maputla in Skeem Saam, told him about the role on the show.

“Africa told me that Skeem Saam was looking for someone to play the role of Wallet. I went to auditions and a month later, they called me and told me that I got the part,” says Molefi.

Matshepo Kukie Maleme (born 23 August 1980), is a South African actress and model.[1] She is best known for the role "Busi" in the film A Million Colours (2011), and television soapies such as, Muvhango, Inkaba and House of Zwide

Career

In 2004, she made her debut television appearance with the SABC1 drama series, Bubomi Sana and played the role "Zandiswa". Then in May 2007, she joined with the M-Net soap opera Egoli: Place of Gold with the role of "Thuli". In 2010, she made her film debut with the film Night Drive.[1] In 2011, she acted in the film A Million Colours directed by Peter Bishai. The film received critics acclaim and screened in many film festivals. In 2013, she won the Best Supporting Actress Award in Feature Film category at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA). Then at the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards, she was nominated for the Best Pan African Actress.

After that success, she joined with the SABC 2 soap opera Muvhango with the role "Mapule" from 2012 to 2013. Then in the Mzansi Magic telenovela Inkaba, she played the role of "Thuli Malinga". In 2016, she acted in the serial Gold diggers with the role "Cat", which was her first villainous character on television.[1][5] In 2017, she played the role "Zandile Maphosa" on the soapie Skeem Saam. In 2018, she acted in the mini series Emoyeni by playing the role "Thoko". In another miniseries called After Nine, she played the role of "Bokang" aired on SABC 1.

Apart from that, she made minor sporadic appearances on the soapies such as, Isithembiso, Isibaya, Scandal, Side dish, Imposter and Housekeepers.[1] In 2021, she joined with the e.tv television serial House of Zwide with the role "Rea Molapo". In the serial Scandal, she played the role "Sheila"

(Born January 25, 2003 in a small township of Mpaka, Eswatini) is an Eswatini young aspiring actor and movie director.He starred in the short movie Amakroti for life (Gabhadiya), which was produced by him and got him an International trophy for the Young International Achiever Award at the Mumbai International Excellence Award back in 2022. He started acting back in 2020 making his first debut movie appearance "The Reunion" alongside with the movie director and Author Nerville Johnson. He also featured in a horror movie "Zezengani" back in 2021and he also starred in his own play "The Police " enhancing his talent more as an actor.Back in 2022 he produced the hit gangsterous movie Amakroti for life Gabhadiya which got him more following as an actor and attracting controversy to many. He started a Foundation named The Luyanda Mali foundation which helps young artistic talent to see their potential in their dreams.

Masoja Josiah Msiza (born October 5, 1964) is a South African actor, poet and musician. He is best known for portraying "Nkunzi Mhlongo" in the award-winning telenovela Uzalo.

Early life

Msiza was born in Kwa-Thema, a township in the South African province of Gauteng. His love for acting started when he was 9 years old and he enjoyed participating in art and drama classes. At the age of 14 he participated in a drama competition in his school which he won.[6] After finishing school he found work as a miner and he eventually ended up being fired along with other miners who were involved in a strike.[7] Following his dismissal, he decided to pursue his dream to become an actor and his debut gig was featured in a play called "Mfowethu" which was directed by Gibson Kente.[8]

Career

Msiza began his career as a poet and later a stage and television actor, musician and storyteller. He has appeared in a number of notable films such as Kalushi: The Story of Solomon Mahlangu and A Million Colours.[9] However, his most prominent role is his portrayal of the ruthless crime lord Nkunzebomvu "Nkunzi" Mhlongo on the most viewed television show in South Africa Uzalo.[10][11][12] He has also appeared in several TV series such as Scandal!, Shreads and Dreams, Rhythm City, Intersexions, Sokhulu & Partners, and Making Cents with the Sitholes.[13]

In 2016, he got his first starring role in television in a telenovela called "Ring of Lies".[14]

In 2004, he wrote poems for the South African National Football Team during the AFCON tournament held in Tunisia. He also wrote and performed promo poems for the largest radio station in South Africa Ukhozi FM.[15]

On June 22, 2019, Masoja Msiza alongside Dudu Khoza presented the first annual Cothoza Music Awards hosted by the multi-award-winning A ca****la group Ladysmith Black Mambazo.[16]
