“Why I am proudly casting a vote for Kamala Harris”

That said, this post is NOT:

- an attempt to influence anyone's vote. At this point, most of us have likely made our decisions. Rather, this is simply my personal reflection.

- to “other” anyone or to add to any type of division. We are all in this together, regardless of our political perspectives.

***

"Radical Business” and Radical Gaines reflect my drive to explore core truths. In examining everything from workplace conflicts to political views, from spiritual beliefs to ethical frameworks in social enterprise, I've consistently sought to understand the fundamental principles that shape my beliefs and define the principles of my work.

When addressing complex issues, especially in politics, we often lose sight of core truths amid partisan noise. I try to maintain this same commitment to fundamental truths when approaching politics.

One such truth I've discovered: effective leadership, whether in business or politics, requires balancing traditionally masculine and feminine energies. This isn't about sexuality - it's about combining complementary strengths of competition with collaboration, decisive action with inclusive care.

One of the core ideas from Radical Business is the pending shift away from traditional economic models built on a scarcity mindset characterized by dominance, competition, and win-lose scenarios. This traditional approach is being challenged by an abundance mindset that emphasizes care for all stakeholders. While business has traditionally favored masculine approaches, our greatest challenges require a balance of both firmness and empathy.

This all leads to my excitement to cast my vote for Kamala. She embodies this balance - showing strength in prosecution and foreign policy while maintaining a commitment to unity and collective care. I am so tired of the casual hate and division we feel when we disagree with one another. To quote Abraham Lincoln, the inspiration for my youngest son’s name, “We are not enemies, but friends.” Rather than "Make America Great Again," I envision making America great for everyone, for the first time. Harris represents this potential for balanced leadership that could help heal and unite our nation.

God Bless America!

Did you know that 90% of those that menstruate experience PMS!?

This means the experience of at least 1 symptom that negatively impacts their life… When you do the math, we're looking at 26% of the global population is experiencing symptoms for 1-2 weeks/month that alters their lives!🤯

Does this shock you as much as it did us!? Or you know it all too well?

Why are we taught that Periods are bad? Or an inconvenience? When in fact, menstruation is an essential part of human existence… And when we take time to learn about it, maybe (just maybe) we can shift our mindset from one where a menstrual cycle is a nuisance, to one where we realize it is a super power!

Life is not how it looks in the movies! College isn’t going to look Project X or Blue Mountain State every weekend. Working isn't going to be an episode of Succession or Mad Men. However, we still let the media dictate our beliefs around so many things before we experience them ourselves.

Periods are portrayed in a negative light in pop culture constantly. The common trope of a girl getting caught off guard by their first period, having to hide in a bathroom or wrap a sweater around their waist. Perpetuates a belief that periods are something to be ashamed about and to keep hidden. As we begin to notice how we as a society have allowed the media to change our expectations of different aspects of life...we must not only try to portray these things positively, but also actively seek education to try and compensate for the false information that is spread.

Menstruation and Periods are a normal part of life. Actually, let's start that sentence over... Life would not exist without menstrual cycles. So, why is there so much stigma around the topic?

This week we welcome Kate Morton from Funk It Wellness to talk about menstruation and throughout our conversation, there were several eye opening, paradigm shifting moments that came from talking about periods and women's menstrual health in a safe space. Many women are continuing to learn about their health many, many years after they have had their first period. But also, other conversations around work, business, productivity, living one's best life, and even removing the negative effects of patriarchal systems are all connected to having thoughtful and open communication about periods.

Have you ever felt like you had dug yourself into a hole 🕳that was just too deep to ever climb out of? Or that you had made a mistake that would be impossible to fix?

When struggling with addiction these feelings can be very common. Some people watch themselves tear down their bodies, relationships, or social standing, in an attempt to satiate their addiction.

It is important to actively challenge the self deprecating thoughts and feelings that may occur💙

Have any of you ever felt similar emotions? That you were powerless, had messed things up, or something similar? Share about your journey to loving yourself down in the comments.

The Holiday Season... a time for family, social gatherings, cold nights and warm fires. For many people, these moments are also filled with alcoholic drinks in hand, and the notion is that if you're not drinking along, you're also not having as much fun. For those who struggle with alcohol and other substance use, this is a time that can be a significant struggle where you may wish you could avoid gatherings all together. We are grateful to be able to share an honest conversation about sobriety as we enter this season.

Ellen Elizabeth joins us to share her journey with alcohol and substance abuse, her hardest moments and how it directly impacted herself, her family and her career. Her road to recovery is an inspiration to all!

Especially if you or someone you know struggles with alcohol and substance, this episode is a great resource to share along as Ellen's story leaves us with a sense of hope, encouragement and even resources to guide others on the recovery journey.

In this week's episode, we discussed different practices to help deal with generational trauma and emotional abuse from a parent.

While the healing process will be different for everyone, one of the most universal skill sets that can help come from general emotional intelligence. Having the vocabulary and understanding, to apply to your actions and emotions, will allow someone the ability to deal with almost any situation. Making sure to instill this skill set within children allows them to navigate life a little easier, and maybe avoid some of the emotional hardships that come with a lack of understanding.

No one is born with hate, ill will, or any evil in their heart. However, as an individual moves through life there are an infinite amount of things that can happen to or be done to them that can change the way they interact with others or view the world.

We must not only take the time to realize this if someone wrongs us, but also analyze how different things have affected the way we interact with others...and try to end the cycle of pain.

"Hurt people, hurt people." This powerful and profound phrase holds so much truth. When you are a victim of any form of trauma, and you have the healing and ability needed to step back and look at the person who caused you pain, you can often find that the hurtful behavior patterns that someone exhibits stem from pain that another person had caused them earlier in their lives.

We asked Tejal to join us today to specifically talk about Narcissistic behaviors and how these negative behavior patterns could be broken. Tejal Patel is the host of the Time-In Talks Podcast, and author of The Mom’s Choice Gold Award winning book🏅Meditation for Kids: 40 Activities to Manage Emotions, Ease Anxiety and Stay Focused and motivational speaker.

Her doable approach to family meditation and mindfully handling meltdowns (yours and your kids) sets her apart from the traditional self-help crowd and makes her a go-to expert for modern parents who want to 💅NamaSLAY stress, snap less and raise mindful kids too.

It’s always hard to take a look back on how you may have been negatively impacted by people close to you, join us so you don’t have to do it alone💙.

In a world where people are quick to assign labels, make assumptions, and perpetuate stereotypes...Introverted people are just another group of people made to feel as though they are “other”. During our discussion with Sara Lewis in this week's episode, we hoped to help break down some of these “myths”surrounding introversion.

How do you feel about these statements? Do you feel that you have let yourself believe some of these things? We encourage you to share and discuss with others in the comment section below.

This week in The Third Place, we covered the fascinating topic of Introverts and Extroverts, and how to understand their differences! Do you gain energy from being around a lot of people and processing out loud? OR, do you absolutely crave complete aloneness and silence to replenish your being? Or both?!?

Our guest this week, Sara Lewis, loves to empower introverted small business owners to use their personality to their advantage. As the founder of Introverts Emerge, she created a brand dedicated to the growth of introverted entrepreneurs. Through coaching and training, Sara helps entrepreneurs put themselves out there, gain confidence, and grow their business successfully.

Join us for a very interesting episode, and take that time to self-reflect.
