Repost from doc Hi Kumusta. He is a Nurse Practitioner based in Los Angeles, CA.
I came down in this country (USA) some 16 years ago.....I wasn't fat that time...By a typical Filipino body frame and height standard and standing at 5'7.....I considered myself statuesque, tall, and lanky (in stilletos!)
Over the years then, I struggled with my weight. I was gaining pounds after pounds. You know why? Because food here in the US have great accessibility. What the rich can eat, the poor can. Food is everywhere and cheap. You can buy a burger in cents (pence).
I was so consumed with work (juggling 2-3 jobs simultaneously like any other immigrant) that I became sedentary and lazy. I became a couch potato all day watching the crazed American Idol seasons during its peak as well with primetime TV.
I didn't walk, run, or jog because I learned how to drive a car. That made it worse! My apartment before was only less than a half mile to the grocery store, and yet I was so lazy to walk and buy my foodstuffs.
In short, I reached about 205-210 pounds...,my highest weight ever after 8 years of living in this country.
My BP starts to shoot up, got headaches, my OSA got worse, was on a statin and aspirin, and became pre-diabetic. I can't forget my nursing colleagues in a prior hospital recorded me snoring so loud in the nurses station. That was really embarrassing.
As I got older, I became health conscious after hearing a few of my contemporaries had heart attacks and some even died. I got scared to death! I'm not ready yet to Rest in Peace!
So, I decided I need to find a way to shred the extra amount of cholesterol in my body. I realized I need to "live" and "love" myself.
Year 2013 was memorable for my transition to healthy lifestyles. I enrolled in a diet program--I was on healthy protein bars and shakes. I attempted to becoming a vegetarian, as well I obtained a gym membership!
Yes, from then on, I was gradually shedding off however there were ups and downs. My diet regimen of bars and proteins became resistant and didn't work anymore.
Fast forward today, I discovered Valentus coffee--- a uniquely made coffee from herbal extracts that suppresses our appetite center. It worked and I couldn't be so happier that my OSA resolved, I sleep more, feeling light and energetic, bowels are great--no more constipation, self-esteem and confidence is back, and most importantly exercise is now an option! And yes I feel hot and beautiful! It's self-preservation!
Thank you Valentus!
