The inaugural Suki 7s was a huge success over the weekend, opening the 2024 Trinidad and Tobago Rugby Union's Sevens Series. It was a winners take all tournament but there was no shortage of prizes for various accomplishments.

Winners:

U20 Women - San Juan Rugby Football Club / MVP - Kalena Burke
U20 Men - Exiles / MVP - Adriano Baptiste
Senior Women - Defence Force / MVP - Leah Kintiba
Senior Men - Caribs / MVP - Anderson Joseph

E500 Sports and Arts Society held its Annual Sports Day in collaboration with the Edinburgh 500 Community Council. The theme was '500 is Love' and it was in fact a love scene on Saturday.

There's something about shooting Pagwah that is always magical. And it's not so much the bright colours that make for beautiful photos, but more so the bright smiles and genuine joy you see on the faces of the people celebrating that make the photos truly magical. This was at Youngster's Ground in Chaguanas.

I've always wanted to attend the Obatala Festival, but every year I remember after the fact. This year, having met Ita Oosa and his wonderful wife last year, I put a little bit more effort into remembering. Then I had to work. But then as faith would have it, I met up with .Aje1 at the event I was covering and she told me the procession starts at 4 (I actually thought it was the following day) and so I made my way down to Woodbrook. What energy and vibes... I am so happy I was able to attend the procession and get some shots!!!! I will most definitely be making an effort to do it again next year.

So this was a whole adventure because I was literally racing these riders and had like seconds to set up. Glare did not help. But wasn't a terrible outing my first Trinidad & Tobago Cycling Federation road series. Will see if men like TTgameplan can hook a sister up with front row seats next race.

Liam Trepte was the overall winner.

It was nothing but pure pace on the avenue last night as Cycling on the Avenue made its return. Hosted by Michael Phillips of Mikes Bikes Trinidad, the event saw local, Regional and international competitors battle for the coveted title in front a packed Ariapita Avenue crowd. Local riders such as Njisane Jus-amazing Phillip, Alexi Ramirez , Emile Abraham , Liam Trepte
and Akil Campbell . Participating clubs included Miami Blazers, Team Pharmaco/JLD, Legion of Los Angeles , Raiders TT Cycling and Heatwave Cycling among others. of Legion on Los Angeles was the eventual Division 1 Winner.

Had the opportunity to chat with CWI Coaching Development Manager, Chris Brabazon this week... cool guy. Chris was facilitating a coaches development session for the AIM All Girls Cricket. AIM AGC continues to help push women's cricket forward by not only developing young women in the sport, but by ensuring their coaches have the tools to have the best impact.

A few shots from the inaugural West Indies Rising Stars 30-Over Championship held at Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in St Augustine on Saturday. Trinidad and Tobago Under-19 women’s team defeated the Windward Islands by 37 runs to claim the title.

"We can bring it home, only if we remember team."

It's been quite the journey for the senior women. They secured a CAC spot after a hard fought Super Sevens in Mexico last year and come Sunday, they put everything on the line. There were many challenges, lots of tears, and it took a total team effort (including those players who got us to San Salvador) to get here. And we'll be going for the win.

Whatever the outcome... we're already proud and they have our support 💯

It is a continuation of the TTWCA's commitment to developing women's cricket in the Region and a welcome platform for young players who now have increasing opportunities in the women's game around the world. Women's cricket has officially returned and one tournament is already done and dusted. Congrats to Players Sports Club which won the T20 Championship title and Hibiscus which claimed the Premiership T20 title.
