Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC via Steam both physically and digitally on October 24 for $59.99, Konami announced.

Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will also be available as standalone digital titles for $19.99 each. Regional versions will also be available as digital downloads at no extra cost.

Total sales for Dead Island 2 surpassed one million units worldwide in the first three days of release, publisher Deep Silver and developer Dambuster Studios announced.

Deep Silver also shared the following Dead Island 2 gameplay statistics:

• 11 million total hours played
• 28 million total number of player deaths (over twice the population of Los Angeles)
• 45 million zombies sliced in half
• 756 million zombie limbs hacked off
• 1.1 billion total number of zombies slayed

Five years ago, God of War released for the PlayStation 4. This reinvention of the long-running series took Kratos to Midgard and introduced us to his son Atreus, also affectionately known as "BOY!" We featured this game on the cover of issue 298.

Geoff Keighley will host Gamescom 2023: Opening Night Live on August 22, organizers Koelnmesse and the game association announced.

The annual event will feature new game announcements, trailers, and gameplay footage.

Gamescom 2023 will run from August 23 to 27 at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany.

The potential of Microsoft turning Call of Duty into an Xbox-exclusive franchise has been one of the major sticking points for regulators that has held up its proposed $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, and to allay those concerns, the company has taken numerous steps in recent weeks. It has expressed on numerous occasions that it plans to keep Call of Duty multiplatform, also having signed binding agreements with Nintendo and Nvidia that will see the franchise releasing for their respective platforms for at least the next ten years, with a similar (as of yet untaken) offer also being on the table for Sony.

Now, Microsoft has taken another major step in an effort to convince the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) that the deal should be greenlit. As reported by VGC, in its report published to the CMA, Microsoft says that should the Activision Blizzard acquisition be greenlit, it will allow Sony to put Call of Duty games on PlayStation Plus day and date for the same amount of time that they remain on Game Pass.

“Any CoD Game in a Microsoft multigame subscription is eligible for inclusion in Sony’s multi-game subscription service, at the same time and for the same duration,” Microsoft writes.

Sony, however, has said in response that the offer might not necessarily be to its advantage, saying that it could “commercially destroy” its subscription model. Sony alleges Microsoft would have the power to significantly raise prices of Call of Duty games, which would then force Sony’s hand to raise the prices of its subscription service, or not put Call of Duty on the service at all.

Sony Interactive Entertainment will host a State of Play on February 23 at 1:00 p.m. PT / 4:00 p.m. ET, the company announced. You will be able to watch it on YouTube and Twitch.

The broadcast will feature “new looks at some anticipated games from our third-party partners,” as well as a first glimpse at five PlayStation VR2 titles launching later in 2023. It will end with over 15 minutes of new gameplay details and updates on Su***de Squad: Kill the Justice League.

PlayStation Blog Japan clarifies, “Over the course of 45 minutes, we will showcase new reveals and the latest information and gameplay for 16 new titles across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation VR2.”
