If you shoot long enough you’ll hear “speed vs accuracy” or “speed is fine, accuracy is final” and it’s bu****it. The relationship between the two is not adversarial, they are BFFs! They both matter simultaneously. A fast miss isn’t much good and hits only count if they are fast enough to matter. The video below helps show you why. . .hopefully.

Great Review!!!

So here are my thoughts on the SRO. My thoughts are based on my now 4+months with it. Full disclosure: Trijicon sent me the SRO.

6K rounds
Dropped on gravel, hard dirt, grass, and black top from holster height.

Racked off of brick, wood, and plastic tables.

Glass is good and durable.

2.5 dot is clear and crisp.

Top loading battery is secure and easy to change.

No ghost dots from direct sunlight in my testing.

10 classes or so taught with it.

Zero failures. No battery changes.

I did not want to like the SRO. I thought the big window was unnecessary with proper technique. And to a degree it is but the amount of info you get from it is, well, very very nice. It also seems to help new dot shooters calm down a bit about finding the dot.

Does the glass get a bit dirty because it is close to the breech? Yes, but it doesn’t matter if you stay target focused. It certainly isn’t anything that is going to affect accuracy.

In regards to drop test, which I highly respect as a data point, it doesn’t really reflect MY practical purposes. So it would not deter me from carrying it from an armed citizen standpoint. If it does with you, rock on and look elsewhere. However if the feature appeals to you and you weighed the pros and cons, then you too can rock on.

Finally, would I buy with my own money an SRO over an RMR or Holosun? Probably not. But my testing was done 3 classes ago, and I can’t find the motivation to go through the process of remounting and zeroing an RMR to my carry/teaching gun so.....
