What makes us anxious may repeatedly cripple us, but after a while, it's time to fight back. The second issue of our publication empowers you to do so by giving you the space to face your apprehensions. Talk about your anxieties in the language that is comfortable for you, be it philosophical, economic, sociological or any other, we welcome diversity.
Essay submissions that play on the theme of anxiety can range from 1000 to 5000 words. There are no strict guidelines on form or style, however it may be imperative for writers to consider the audience—the eclectic Ateneo community—in handling jargon.
Essays may come in the form of op-eds, short think pieces, reviews, criticisms, personal narratives et cetera. Topics can be as variegated as possible.
Write about what makes you anxious. Talk about how the rise of the right wing uneases you. Share your apprehensions regarding the neutrality of people in our time of moral crises. Speak up about the nagging anxiety that you are never and will never be enough.
Essays need to be submitted in either .doc or .docx format.
Photoessays, illustrations, and other forms of visual art are also highly welcome. Draw a caricature of the Philippine government. Be inspired by Scarlet Johansson on SNL. We want you to capture anxiety in a shot.
Submission must be in .jpg or .png format.
All works must be submitted by the 17th of April, 2017 to [email protected]
