It’s no secret that I put this book off for a while because I was afraid it would be a waste of time. I have a very unpopular opinion on Beach Read* and only ~liked~ PWMOV.

*it’s not that I hated Beach Read, it just did nothing for me. I didn’t love it or even like it all that much. But I also think it was read during a burn out so I am possibly unfairly rating it. (Even though it’s ok to not like something everyone else likes!)

I am SO happy to report that I was wrong. This book was everything I need for Emily Henry to redeem herself to me. I loved loved loved it! The characters are so relatable. I always love a good book that has soft characters that come off hard headed and cold. We get the inside look at their true selves and sweet hearts. Charlie and Nora’s story started hilariously and ended in my favorite way!

I feel like if you love EH you’ve already read this. But if you’re like me and undecided, I encourage you to give this one a chance. The title of this book actually tracks with what the book is about for once 😆. Now I’m excited for Happy Place to come out in April!

Benji Andorrrrrr 😮‍💨🤌🏼❤️‍🔥

This quite possibly may be my new favorite book. I can’t even tell you have perfect it was. When I wasn’t reading this book I was thinking about this book. I couldn’t finish it fast enough. I don’t give star ratings on here anymore but I can assure you, this one got 5 glorious, shiny, bright stars from me on Goodreads.

This book had the perfect amount of sugar and spice. It was funny and sad and just oh so loveable! I love the love in this book and the uniqueness of the ghosts + all that went along with that. Every single character we met along the way was so likeable. All of the loose ends being tied up we’re just 🤌🏼 And can we talking about that Benji twist? Oh my heart! ❤️‍🩹

Is it normal to want to reread a book as soon as you finish it? 😍

I haven’t done a reading check in lately so here’s one for you! I just finished The Dead Romantics by and *sigh* I’m so sad I’m done with it. It’s definitely in the top 5 favorite books for me! (Review coming soon!) Now I’m reading Rules for Dating a Bookshop Owner by and it’s already SO entertaining! What are you reading?!

This book was so gripping. Between the dual timelines of past and present to multiple characters + trying to figure out how they connect- this book was creepy in the best way.

You have ghosts/spirits, “witches”, people from the past and people from the present. You have missing people and mysteries to solve. You have an eerie setting and secret hiding spots. You just basically have a seriously thrilling thriller.

There’s not a lot of books that I will stay up to finish, but this book was one of them. It’s the perfect winter thriller if you like paranormal and mysteries. I highly recommend for those thriller lovers!

I Can Fix That | Juliana Smith

Here’s a little background story with this book. I had read Juliana’s book Baggage Claim that I received from NetGalley. Shortly after falling in love with that book, I joined a Bookclub to discuss it. Well, we all loved *that* book so much that we basically all had it read waaaay before we were supposed to chat about it. That being said, we decided to read Juliana’s other (debut) novel I Can Fix That to not only support the author, but to also discuss that book in Bookclub! How amazing is that?!

Anyway.

I loved this book so much. To know this is a debut novel is so surprising to me because of all the emotion, depth, chemistry and character development that was in it. These characters are so loveable despite the grumpiness and built up walls. Grant is such a teddy bear and has a soft core even though he puts on a total stone cold front. June is such a giver, people pleaser, and just an overall empathetic sweetie. I love that she didn’t give up on Grant before and after she found out his trauma. She is a strong woman who knows her worth but also knows her heart. If you need a quick, adorable rom-com this year. Pick this one up, you won’t regret it!

It Starts With Us | Colleen Hoover

This book is a the second to It Ends With Us, a heartbreakingly beautiful book about first loves, loss, and domestic abuse. It Starts With Us is a book about 2 of the main characters, Atlas and Lily, after finally reconnecting. The time is finally right for them to be together despite all the hardships they have to endure throughout the journey.

I’m shocked to be seeing reviews for less than 5 stars for this book. This book made me so happy and also emotional so many times. Atlas and Lily are life! I didn’t realize how much I missed them until they were back in my hands. Colleen Hoover just has a way with words that makes you *feel* all the feels. When it was Atlas’ chapters, I felt that I was with him, same with Lily’s chapters.

*For all of those that rated It Ends With Us poorly based on the last couple of chapters because you didn’t like Lily’s decisions when it came to Ryle and a certain someone due to safety reasons…please read this book. It redeems that decision 100 times over.*

This book is a book of pure love in so many ways. I’m so happy Atlas and Lily got their happy ending (book) that they so deserved. 💙

Title: The Co-op
Author: Tarah DeWitt
Release date: October 25, 2022
My rating: 5⭐️

Is it weird to say that I love Tarah’s brain? Probably, but I’m going to say it anyway. It’s been a while since I had fun with a book/ storyline but this one did it! The Co-Op is the most epic enemies to lovers. The banter, the flirting, the tricks and games…oh my gosh, just perfect!

LaRynn is a strong character and I’m absolutely obsessed with her. She has the wits and quick comebacks, the drive and determination, and an exsquiste taste in music. Deacon is a hardworking, loyal, man of many trades guy who knows how to love a lady. LaRynn needs her inheritance money from her grandma but that sneaky lady who most-definitely-knew-what-she-was-doing made it so she couldn’t access her money unless she was married. LaRynn is also co-owners of the property Grams left her with her one-summer-at-nineteen-fling partner, Deacon. Deacon has the construction skills, and if they get married on paper then LaRynn will have the funds to fix up their joint property, sell it for profit and go their separate ways. But something magical and unheard of happened…they actually became closer during a home renovation, which is for sure unlike the house projects over here 😂

Try as they might to continue to hate each other, their summer fling feelings for one another become rekindled and no third act breakup has me forever cheering them on!

The Spell For Lost Things
By: Jenna Evans Welch
Genre: Y/A

This story as a whole is absolutely wonderful. The way the author ties up every lose end from start to finish is just incredible. I was so immersed in this book from the very beginning. This is without a doubt my favorite Jenna Evans Welch novel. It had me tearing up multiple times and I ended this book with a heart so full.

Not only does the author have magical themes but it was also felt so real, like I wasn’t reading a fantasy book. The found family, hard topics, finding who you are, family history…it was all so beautifully written. There’s a little something for everyone to relate to. I cannot express how much I loved this book!

The Kiss Curse
By Erin Sterling
Book 2 of The Ex Hex
My rating 4.5 ⭐️

A witchy book about feisty Gwyn Jones, grumpy Wells Penhallow and a talking black cat, Sir Purrcival…what more could you need?

This book was a perfect mix of magic and romance. Wells Penhallow is the new shop owner directly across the street from Something Wicked, Gwyn Jones’ shop. They are already annoyed with one another on a personal level but now they are rivals in the business world. When a love spell causes them to actually be nice to each other…things between them just take off. Between Gwyn and her sass and Wells and his bad boy attitude, their pining and banter was so entertaining. Their relationship turns from enemies to lovers and Wells is there every step of the way when Gwyn realizes she’s lost her magic. They, and Gwyn’s mentees- the Baby Witches, all work together to figure out what has happened. Then the Baby Witches figure it out and it’s the last possible reason they were expecting… 🔮

I loved Gwyn as a side character in The Ex Hex so I was stoked that Erin Sterling wrote this book! This one was just about a 5 star read as well but it just didn’t have as much of a “mystery” aspect as The Ex Hex I don’t think. The romance was there…hot and heavy. But, there was not as much spooky vibes to this one as there was in the first one. I still thoroughly enjoyed it though and it will be added to my yearly fall reading list!

Admittedly I didn’t think I was going to love this one. The storyline is just kind of “oh another one of these” but ohhh my.was.I.wrong. So swoon-worthy. I just loved this book so, so much! City girl meets country boy mayor, they each have their own very different lives but their hearts want to find a way to be a part of each other’s world. This book gets to the deep soul feeling of love. Alexis and Daniel just have to look past all the things standing in their way. Alexis learned that sometimes you have to forget all the things you’re expected to do for family lineage + the Montgomery family name and just follow your heart to find your happiness.

Absolutely loved this book from the first page. I was drawn into the stories of these characters so quickly and with so much feeling. TJR is a gifted writer and truly made me feel like I was there alongside them. My favorite book of hers to date and it’s my 6th one.

𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤
This book partially takes place in the 1950’s and follows June + Mick Riva’s deep and bumpy love story. It also takes place during the 80’s following the 4 Riva children, Nina, Jay, Hud, and Kit. It’s an unlinear timeline and the current events are leading up to the annual Riva party where everyone who knows the address is invited. Nina is the host and the one least excited for the end of summer bash. She’s dealing with a messy divorce and the last thing she wants is a crazy party breaking loose. But for her siblings, she will do anything. Due to a tragedy, Nina has raised her siblings while she was just a kid herself, basically. Each sibling has their own internal battles and secrets despite being such a close knit family.

𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬
This book sat on my shelf entirely too long and that’s the biggest shame. I loved this book! I loved the characters and following their stories. The way the author writes (all of her books) is incredible. I immediately wanted to reread it. I love having characters cross over from her other novels so this makes me so excited for CARRIE SOTO IS BACK! I feel like words just can’t portray how deep this book made me feel. It’s not your average Hollywood, California, surfer, celebrity book and I am here for it!
