MEET THE PLAYERS OF PDR!

✨Wilton - he/him - Proving Grounds✨

I’m Wilton - He/Him. I’m an Officer in the U.S. Army and in my free time I enjoy reading, cooking, running, and playing games with friends. I first got into D&D during a deployment with some fellow soldiers to help pass the time. As an avid fantasy and sci-fi fan, I was immediately hooked on the world-building aspects of the game. Upon returning home, I immediately started up a campaign as a GM with some friends and have been running it for 4 years now. I play a paladin in the Proving Grounds campaign and partake in 4 other homebrew campaigns with various groups of friends. For me, TTRPGs are one of my favorite ways to unwind and decompress while scratching the “creative outlet” itch.

Hi! I’m Natahlia or Robin! I’m Dinè (Navajo) from Coyote Canyon, NM. I’ve always loved fantasy and lived in books pretty much until college took over my life. I started playing TTRPG with a few of my colleagues and found it to be fun! I currently play Astra in Safra and Kema in MetroDark. I feel like I’m starting to channel my characters in real life and I love it! I love dressing up and being extra like Astra. Astra is a Tiefling Warlock that always needs a bubble bath. Kema is a muscle mommy Orc Fighter.

I am Marcanthony bro/dude/brodude. Creator of the Arrakis Conquest and the Metrodark and one of the founders of Pair-a- Dice Rolls. I am a huge fan of high fantasy games and movies, and my love for DnD stems from video games! I first got into TTRPGs during the covid pandemic and am still playing in that campaign. You can see that campaign in progress on our channel. It is the Proving Grounds!

I masquerade as a muggle by day in the form of an accountant and remote worker. So having the opportunity to hang out with the PDR crew is a great outlet for me to let out my more imaginative side and be social.

MEET THE PLAYERS OF PDR!!

✨Tatiana - she/her/ella - Safra, MetroDark ✨

I’m Tatiana, and my pronouns are she/her/ella. I’ve been a Boricua living in the diaspora for the past 17 years and am one of the co-founders of Pair-a-Dice Rolls. Additionally, I have a Twitch channel, currently on hiatus, under the handle . In The Chronicles of Safra, I play the character Philomena, known as Phil, and in MetroDark, I portray Petra, aka Pet.

While I’ve always been captivated by fantasy and sci-fi, my venture into TTRPGs began in my 30s. My initial exposure was through watching Acquisitions Incorporated by the Penny Arcade team. The banter, creativity, and the lighthearted approach to storytelling drew me in. During the pandemic, I, along with others at Pair-a-Dice Rolls, formed a crew and began doing campaigns together. My first character was Serafina, a halfling rogue, whom I remain obsessed with. Playing TTRPGs has proven therapeutic for me, especially during a challenging period in 2017 marked by persistent panic attacks affecting my mental health. Watching live gameplays provided a much-needed distraction and helped calm my nerves. Even now, TTRPGs continue to be a source of nourishment for my soul, allowing me to forge lasting friendships and reconnect with my neglected creative side. My approach to character creation isn’t super complex –I get inspiration from pop culture (Serafina was inspired by Betty from Rat Queens). I’m notorious for playing tiny ridiculous characters that randomly dance with animals unprompted regardless of the context. It’s a thing.

MEET THE PLAYERS OF PDR!

✨Natalie - she/her - Safra, Proving Grounds, MetroDark✨

I’m Natalie, pronouns she/her, and while I’ve been playing video games my whole life, this is my first journey into TTRPGs and D&D. Currently I play Elewynn, a half-elf druid in Safra (she’s my first), Tris, a drowish bard in The Proving Grounds, and The Bartender in our new DC20 campaign. I had been trying to get into campaigns for a while, but once I joined PDR during the pandemic, I’m so grateful for these people who are now a part of my life. I had no idea how much I needed this creative outlet until now because it’s allowed me build friendships and write—two things that have proved difficult in adulthood as a single mom. Now we are starting the DC20 campaign which opens possibilities for being a DM in the future!

MEET THE PLAYERS OF PDR!

I’m an author and the creator and GM of The Chronicles of Safra and one of the founders of Pair-a-Dice Rolls. I first got into roleplaying games in high school with a group of kids who called themselves “The Brood”. We played a modified TTRPG in school, during class, using only a notebook and different colored pens - we’d write our actions and dialogue and our conversations and interactions would be completely on paper - no dice, no minis, no talking (though we would roleplay in person often). It wasn’t until the pandemic when I started getting more involved with D&D proper. That eventually developed into what is now known as Pair-a-Dice Rolls. I’m an author, so writing a homebrew campaign was very appealing to me, which led to The Chronicles of Safra and a novel (in progress) depicting Aithine’s backstory.
For me, re-engaging in the world of RPGs and D&D setting was a highly impactful moment. My day job is highly logical with little opportunity for creativity, so not only was this a creative outlet, it allowed me to reconnect with my brother and strengthen our relationship. On top of that, I’ve made strong friendships that honestly helped us all get through the worst of the pandemic. For me, TTRPGs offer an escape, but also an opportunity to be creative, silly, engage in self-expression, and build stories that I’m happy to share with the world through our liveplay podcast.

MEET THE PLAYERS OF PDR!

I originally started playing TTRPGs about 10 years ago with my housemates while I was living in a q***r punk house. We completed our first campaign and everyone moved on, but I’ve been chasing that high ever since. Over the years, I’ve been part of several campaigns, some lasting longer than others, but all of them inevitably fell apart. It wasn’t until I was voluntold to GM a one-shot for some work friends (thanks, Tati) that the ball started to get rolling again. I hated it and had a terrible time 😂 but everyone else seemed to have fun and it sparked what would eventually become Pair-a-Dice Rolls! So I guess it was all worth it in the end.

One of my favorite parts of RPGs (besides the friends!) is engaging in the characters. A good character can be therapeutic. My very first character was trans YEARS before I was ever able to accept that within myself. I like being able to explore different sides of myself or even break completely away from myself. I also love making character art, it really helps to solidify this other person I have created and gets me excited to play! And the doodles of course, they have been a constant from the very beginning. I still love peeking at my original doodles from a decade ago! Plus bringing in my love for cosplay as well—it’s just all the best.

But overall, I just really love how engaging TTRPGs are—from the group story telling, to the character building, the tight knit community of friends we’ve built, to the fact that it’s one of the few places left where adults are encouraged to be creative and use their imagination, not to mention that our goal is as a team, we are not competing against each other. I just think it’s a really special place that doesn’t really exist elsewhere anymore. If you have ever been curious about RPGs, I highly encourage you to give it a shot (just make sure to budget in your new dice addiction)!
