Do you look forward to heaven?

Or are you living out your life here on earth as the end in itself?

Only if we truly treasure God will we look forward to heaven with the same joy that Paul did.To live really was Christ for him and that’s why it was a gain to die and be in the Lord’s presence for eternity.

Will you seek to live as one who will be remembered for the way you loved and represented Christ in all that you did?

The legacy we are called to leave behind is not one that promotes our own selves, but that we reflected Jesus in all that we did .

A line from a song says, “I don’t care whether they remember me, as long as they remember the Jesus I reflected.”

Wouldn't it be amazing to be known and remembered as people whose greatest passion was Jesus? And imagine how you would need to live your life in order to be known as such a person.

The qualities that Elizabeth or Mary Magdalene or Martha or any of the other women that followed Jesus were all different .But the thing that they all had in common was that they were willing. And that willingness came from their love and faith in the Lord.

What about you?

Are you willing and available to respond to His call today?

Or are you so focused on yourself, your job, your family and your needs that you don’t even recognize or consider that God may be calling you to do something other than just your daily 9-to-5?

It is no longer we ourselves who live, but Christ and the Holy Spirit who lives in and through us. When we remain in Christ, we produce fruit, fruit that will last.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

As you allow the Holy spirit to work in your life, what transformative change do you see happening?

How do you see your desires being reoriented to align to the will of God?

We are all sinners.

When we accept God’s offer of salvation and come to Him in true repentance of our sin, all our sins are forgiven - every single one of them.

Not because of anything that we did to deserve it. It wasn’t any of our good acts or deeds. It wasn’t that He saw some potential for good in us.

It was purely because of His great love and grace. The perfectly holy, just, Almighty God who cannot stand sin is willing to forgive undeserving, unworthy, tarnished sinners such as us. We have done nothing to deserve it, yet He is willing to redeem us.

Can there be a greater demonstration of love?

What do we need to do now in light of this great gift that we have been given?

Today, examine yourself.

You claim to be redeemed by God, but are you still living exactly the way you were earlier?

Has this gift of God made no change to the way you live your life now?

Is your heart so hardened that you have time and again been rejecting the call of the Lord to leave it all behind and come to Him?

Have you experienced God’s love and forgiveness, but over time, backslid into your old ways?

Though you have been saved, is there some specific area in your life where you keep faltering in again and again?

How can we refuse so great a love? How can we walk away from so great a grace?

This is a call to you today to come and make that grace and that redemption yours.

Are you willing to accept and come to the Lord and be His again?

Why is it necessary to have a connection with God daily?
How important is it to our journey as Christians?
How do we ensure that we are growing every day in our intimacy with God?
Psalm 119: 105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” The word of God is meant to be the light that guides us on our paths every day.
Here are a few things that can help us spend time with God.
*Use a study Bible or a devotional which has some points of application mentioned in it.
*Ask questions about what is being talked about in the passage. When you don’t understand something, don’t move past it quickly, but think about it. Look up material on that specific verse.
*Actively engage with the portion of Scripture. Imagine yourself in the place of the different people in the passage, think about how you would respond in that scenario.
*Make notes. Write everything down – whatever you’ve understood, whether it’s a little or a lot, what you didn’t understand, all of it.
*Don’t just read at a superficial level. Read and re-read the text several times. Read not just for the narrative but to understand on a deeper level what is being said.
*Have a study or accountability partner who will encourage you to study regularly and diligently. They can be someone who can help clear your doubts if you have any.
*Most importantly, seek the Spirit’s help. We can understand what is in God’s word and what it means for us, only when the Spirit opens our eyes to the truth.

God's love can never fail us because God and His ways are perfect.

Deuteronomy 32:4 says He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

How have you experienced God's love lately?

There is no denying that we need money. To just survive every day, we need money. Notice how from needing money, we slowly moved into things we want, satisfying our own desires? We all just want more;we want something better.
Does our happiness and satisfaction come from wealth and social status? Are we trusting in the security of what we’ve saved up for the future? Or does our security come from the Lord? You may say I can’t just splurge however I want and say God will take care of me in the future. That’s absolutely true. But is that really our intention and motive as we save up or invest? Matthew 6: 33 says “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” When we seek the Lord with all out hearts and put Him first in our lives and focus on the things that He calls us for, we can blindly leave everything else to Him. He will make sure that our needs are taken care of. It certainly requires a massive change in mindset on our parts. Having lived our whole lives with the belief that we need to earn and save to make ourselves secure and that happiness comes from living a life of luxury and convenience, learning to put it all in the hands of God and allowing Him to take complete control is not easy. But it is certainly doable, if we are willing to surrender ourselves to the Lord and are willing to do as He tells us.

Today, we have so much access to what is happening around us. As events happen around us, we get live updates, breaking news within moments and all of us have opinions about all these things and we have the means to share them, in the form of social media, whether it’s publicly on Facebook or Twitter or privately among groups or one on one on Whatsapp.Take even our personal interactions and our relationships. When someone makes a mistake, what’s our first reaction?Isn’t it to find fault and point the finger of blame? As Christians, many times, we take it upon ourselves to be the moral authority at home, church, work and at all occurrences worldwide.
But is this really the way that God wants us to respond to people, when they do something wrong? Is this the kind of response that is modelled in the Bible for us?
In Matthew 18:23-35, Jesus reminds us of our own sin and what God did for us, first. We are called to forgive because the Lord forgave our infinitely bigger sin.
In John 8, the teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery to Jesus, and they came thinking that they could use this to trap Jesus
Jesus reminds us here to take a good look at our own lives and see if we’re worthy of being the accusers and enforcing justice and punishment.
If we know that someone is caught in sin, we wait for the Lord’s direction to help them address it. God has His own place, time and methods and people to address such issues. When we consider confronting someone's sin, let's first understand our motive for the confrontation. Often the things that motivate us are self-righteousness or contempt or being judgmental and critical, and none of these are the appropriate motives, and we actually need to seek forgiveness from the Lord for these because they're all sin.The only fitting reason we could have to confront someone of their sin is genuine love and pray that God will open their eyes to their sin, in whatever way He chooses. And that if it’s His will, that He grants the opportunities for us to gently correct them.

The world today tells us not to be so hard on ourselves. To enjoy ourselves, to have fun and live a carefree life, and that that’s the key to happiness. To not take things too seriously and let them bring us down. Everything is “Chalta Hai” - “It doesn’t really matter”.This whole attitude is based on the notion that the choices we make don’t have long-term consequences. This attitude results in apathy, complacency, laziness, looking for convenience. And if we’re honest about it, I think we will realize that we display these attitudes in some degree in our lives, more specifically in our Christian walk. Romans 8: 5-8 – “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.”
The devil will convince us that it’s an inconvenience to try to live in the way that God calls us to live. He’ll convince us that our dreams and our plans for ourselves are better.
But that couldn’t be further from the truth. God has to come first in our lives. Nothing else will do. Today, can we just spend a few minutes examining our lives to see if we’ve been demonstrating these attitudes of complacency or apathy in our relationship with the Lord? And let’s pray and surrender ourselves to the Lord, seeking His help to live as He really meant for Christians to live.

Social media, books, movies all talk so much about putting ourselves and our needs first and loving ourselves. Now you may be starting to wonder if it’s wrong to love ourselves and be content in who we are? Isn't that better than trying to live up to the expectations and standards that society or those around us set for us? Isn't it just better to accept ourselves as we are? What's wrong with having good self-respect or self-esteem?But what does the Bible have to say about this? Is loving oneself supposed to be a priority, according to the Bible? Romans 9: 21 talks about how it is the potter who decides what the clay he’s using gets shaped into, because he is the creator. Even so for us, the One who created us is the only person who knows our real purpose. So rather than to focus on those around us, wouldn't it be better to come and sit in His presence and take an honest look at our lives and see if we're fulfilling the purpose for which He has created us, and living up to the standards that He has called us to live by? And when we do that - when we earnestly seek God, He will open our eyes to show us the truth of who we really are. Then we realize that we are sinners, flawed, imperfect, separated from God’s presence because of our sin. When we see ourselves that way, as once sinners who have now been saved by the sheer grace of God and His unconditional love for us and we recognize this amazing gift that we have been given when we did not in the least deserve it, our natural response is one of gratitude and a heartfelt reciprocation of that love that was given us.

Disciple means to be a follower of Christ. This kind of following is not looking at some pictures or videos and liking or commenting on them on social media pages, or something that we do when we’re bored, or as a means to pass time. This is a calling that’s much deeper, although sometimes we don’t quite see it that way. "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.” So the first thing we need to do to be a disciple is to make Jesus the Lord and Master of our lives. What does that mean now? A master is someone who is in control of you. You submit to him and do as he tells you. So it means that everything we do is in obedience to what Jesus has told us and taught us. But bear in mind, that this is not a mindless, robotic obedience, that we have been forced into. John 14: 15 says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments”. This obedience is born out of love, in response to His own love for us and the immeasurable grace that He has shown us, in the sacrifice of His Son as atonement for our sin.

Luke 6: 40 says, “…everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.” So in order to be a disciple, we need to strive to eventually become like the teacher. As women of hope, we cannot claim to be followers or disciples, if we are not prepared to learn from Christ’s teachings and do as He has commanded us and taught us. To be a disciple is to live with Christ as our example and for our ultimate aim to be Christ-like perfection.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving - Colossians 3:23-‬24‬‬‬. Think of all the things you do in a day, think of the most boring or the most annoying parts of your day, and consider how different they would be if you were doing them for the Lord instead? But in order to do that, we first need a relationship with the Lord, where we are tuning in to hear Him every day through His Word and by His Spirit. Without the relationship, there's no point in working trying to please God, because we simply don't have the direction we need. When the going gets tough and frustrations and pressures build, if we don’t have the voice of God leading us and directing us, we don’t really know what the right thing to do is, and if it is in fact what is pleasing to God.

One of our crucial responsibilities as mothers is to teach our children what it means to be His children. And the best way to do that is by modelling the lifestyle of a Bible-loving, God-honouring, prayerful person ourselves. In fact, the best way to get our kids to do anything is to first set an example for our kids of the desired behaviour. Do you wonder how Hannah was able to give Samuel away, after she had longed and prayed for him so desperately? It was because she understood that he was a gift from God to her and that he actually belonged to God and her role was as a steward, to prepare him in the first few years of his life for the purpose that God had created him for. She had perfectly understood what it really means to be a parent. She realized that it was more important for Samuel to fulfil his purpose than for him to be with her and grow up in her presence. Can you imagine the kind of relationship she must have had with God, in order to be able to willingly do that? And that’s what we are called to, as well. To be so totally surrendered to the will of God and trust in Him so completely, and to raise children whose only focal point is to please their Maker.

Ephesians 5:24 says “Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.” Our submission is meant to be equivalent to the way the church submits to Christ – humble, willing, loving, wholehearted submission. Some of the practical ways in which we can demonstrate God honouring submission.
1. Allow them to take the lead. In fact, pray that they will take the initiative and lead the decisions of the family. If you’ve been in the habit of grabbing the lead every time, ask God for the wisdom and strength to take a step back.
2.Learn to negotiate and compromise, in humility and love, not with the intention to get your way or wanting to prove yourself right, but keeping in mind that outcome that will glorify God
3. Be quick to recognize your husband’s strengths and slow to point out his flaws. Refrain from criticizing him or complaining about him to others, including the children. Children are always watching and picking up on these things, and you are influencing your children’s opinion and perception of their father.
4. Don’t undermine his decisions.
5. Work on filtering your actions, words and attitudes
6. Don’t label him as being a certain way. Doing that will never let you look beyond that perception
7. Rebellion, deception and manipulation are sin. God is displeased with these.

Of course, these aren’t the only ways to play the role of a God honouring wife. These are just some pointers, a place to start from.

If you haven’t considered till now that you may be dishonouring God in how you play your role as a wife, seek forgiveness today. Take your unique family situation to the presence of God today and ask Him what is it that He wants you to work on and change today to be the kind of wife that He wants you to be, and for your marriage to honour God the way He wants it to.

Hebrews 12:2 & 3- Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God- Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. It encourages us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus so that we don’t lose heart. Truth be told, being a woman of hope is no easy joke. Being available to listen to and speak hope to other, to help and walk and love and pray and forgive – it can get a bit tiring. Jesus said in Matthew 19:26 – “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” When the Spirit of God is at work in us, you will see the evidence in our lives. Galatians 5 lists the evidence of His work as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. God still offers us encouragement should we feel tired or weary. In fact, Paul is offering the same encouragement that Jesus did in Matthew 19. He says keep your eyes on Jesus because He is the perfecter of our faith. We cannot do this by ourselves for sure! But the more we rely on God and seek His help and keep looking to Jesus, His Spirit will perfect us and make us untiring women of hope! What a loving God He is!

A forgiving heart?

How is that a means of hope?

I Corinthians 13: 7 - Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love always hopes. What do we do when we are wronged? Hate, curse, take revenge?
But the Bible says love always hopes. It is hope that gives us the strength to repay good for evil. Without hope, we have no power to absorb the wrong and to continue walking in love. We start feeling self-pity and anger. But when we, in love for others, have hope for them, we can forgive them. It helps us think that they could one day change, they could find Christ and they can be transformed. We would be much more forgiving of people if we had that kind of hope in them. And that can give them hope too! Imagine a mother telling her teenage son she forgives him because she has hope in him. Imagine a mother in law who will tell her daughter in law she has hope in her. Can you imagine how it would transform them and their relationships too?

Bent in prayer! 1 Timothy 2: 1 - First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people.
Paul is urging us to not simply pray but to make supplication or requests, pray for, intercede for or pray on behalf of and praise God - but all this for others! It will take great love for others if you must celebrate and praise with them and pray on behalf of them when they are struggling. It’s a supreme act of love to pray for someone. Sometimes the situations seem impossible and it looks like there is no hope and there is nothing you can do for someone, but in those times and at every other time, you can pray for them to a God who says “with men this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible.” Pray in love, pray in faith and pray in His will and we can have confidence that God hears our prayers made for those we love. He is able to bring hope into the hopeless lives and situations of those around us.

Matthew 5: 40 & 41 - And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. This verse talks about helping those who are not willing to or able to repay the favour. It speaks of someone who is actually against you!True! Here they are suing you and forcing you and Jesus asks us to go beyond what they are forcing you to give and give more. What can be a greater testimony for Christ than the one who follows in His example of praying for the forgiveness of the very ones that were killing Him.Now that can truly bring light and hope into any darkened life! That takes great love, doesn’t it?A woman of hope must first and foremost be a woman of love who has tasted for herself hope and love in Christ Jesus! If you have ladies, go out there and share that love and hope with this needy and broken world. You will truly make it a better place and bring glory to the Lord.

1 Peter 3:15 - But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.Peter encourages us to be gentle and respectful in speaking to others. He also says that we must always be ready to share with anyone the reason for our hope. But He says do it with Jesus as your Lord and Master. In other words, we must always be ready and willing to share with anyone the hope that we have in Christ Jesus but we must do it with the guidance and direction of our Master Jesus Christ.

James 1:19 - My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

When was the last time someone came to you searching for someone to just listen to their struggles? Were you the listening ear that they needed?
We can recollect so many times when a friend or sister was hurting and needed an empathetic friend. Yes! We all have that. But usually, rather than listening, we give them our opinions on what they should or shouldn’t have done. Instead of being patient and gracious in listening to them, we get upset and angry at their struggles and failures.Nothing gives hope like a friend who will hear us out! When we are in a crisis, we usually know what we did wrong. But knowing that we have a friend who will listen to us and will encourage us in dealing with our crisis gives us confidence that our crisis is not final and that we can come out of it. That kind of a friend is truly precious. A faithful friend will always be careful with the things you share with them privately. It is important that you as a listening friend are also a faithful friend. Then you will be a real source of hope to those around you.

Blessings (cover) by Miracle Shatananada

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

'Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not our home

What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise

As a woman of hope, knowing that you are no longer condemned, how can you change the way you view yourself?

A relationship with God through Jesus Christ is not based on our performance because we already are accepted, loved and forgiven. We can start believing our worth in Christ and we can experience freedom. A relationship with God differs from being religious. Religion says you do what is right in order to earn acceptance, love and forgiveness.

When Jesus talked with the woman caught in sin in John 8, He did forgive her but He also stated, “Go now and leave your life of sin.” He was telling her to embrace her new identity as someone who is free and forgiven.

Today, how are you embracing your new identity in Christ?

When you look at yourself in the mirror, who do you see? God created each one of us as a unique “masterpiece.”

We are made with outstanding workmanship! Here are some of the Bible verses which affirm that we are God’s Masterpiece.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14.

“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” Philippians 1:6

“…We are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord…” 2 Corinthians 3:18.

As women of hope, we need to remind ourselves everyday that we are God’s Masterpiece.

Forgiven. Worthy. Loved. Known. Chosen. Treasured.

Today is the United Nations’ World Day Against Trafficking in Persons . Every country in the world is affected by trafficking with the majority of the victims being sexually exploited. Almost one-third of human trafficking victims are children and 71% are women and girls.

As we support the United Nations campaign to raise awareness, would you join TWR India Women of Hope in prayer and commit to learn more about how you can help us minister to the women and girls affected?
