The sacred mugumo (fig tree) wasn’t just a symbol of life for the Agikuyu—it was a portal to the spirit world. These towering trees were believed to house the spirits of ancestors, and important community decisions or prayers often took place beneath their sprawling branches.

Cutting down a mugumo was considered a grave taboo, bringing curses to anyone who dared. Some say that if a mugumo fell naturally, it was a divine message signaling major change. Talk about nature being a hotline to the heavens! 🌌🌿

He led his people in one of the most daring resistances against colonialism by sabotaging the construction of the Uganda Railway. His warriors would dismantle tracks, ambush trains, and disrupt supply lines, using guerrilla warfare guided by his prophetic wisdom.

Koitalel wasn’t just a strategist; he was a unifier who inspired his people to stand firm for their land and culture. Though he was betrayed and killed during a peace meeting in 1905, his story remains a powerful symbol of resilience and freedom.

Koitalel’s legacy proves that one leader can make history.

I have recently been reminded the importance of moving forward and keeping on. There are so many turns and twists that happen as you move from one day to another. Every new season is like a new episode on my life's movie, or story.

What resonates with me right now is that I must keep writing this story. My mantra lately has been 'Self-confidence, speed, and simplicity.'
